Oh My

(Note: I'm going to be out of town for the rest of today and tomorrow. I'll be back Friday with a post.)

Oh my, I don't think I've ever heard a dignified broadcaster like Dick Enberg discuss "Blue Balls" before. But that's what Enberg was discussing with Tennis great Chris Everett. Everett had the perfect response to Enberg, "I'll leave that one alone."

Federer Wins the French

Roger Federer completed a triple feat when he defeated Robin Soderling today at the French Open. He finally won his first French Open, completed the career Grand Slam, and tied Pete Sampras with 14 Grand Slam titles.

Federer didn't let history or the weather predict the his outcome. He looked like his normal dominate self against Soderling beating him in straight sets.

Now the question will be ask. Is Roger Federer the greatest men's tennis player of all-time? I say no because Pete Sampras dominated in a time when men's tennis had a deeper field. Sampras had to compete against Andre Aggasi, Jim Courier, Boris Becker, Ivan Lendl, and Michael Chang. Compared to Federer who's only real competition over the years has only been Rafael Nadal.

I will have to let time go by before I crown Federer the greatest men's tennis player. It's easy to overlook the accomplishments of Sampras.

Congrats though to Roger Federer for winning the French Open.
