Yes folks, Greg Paulus has decided on what school he will attend to play football. Thankfully I can rest easy today now that Greg has made his decision.

He will be returning to his home town to play for the Syracuse Orange. He will have one year of eligibility.

Now if we can only get a football version of this video.

Greg Paulus Must Be Liking The Attention He's Getting

The Green Bay Packers have already given former Duke point guard Greg Paulus a look. And now Paulus claims Michigan will give him a shot at their quarterback position.

"There has been an opportunity given there," Paulus said Thursday morning on a conference call with reporters. "I thought it was a really good visit. It was really helpful to get to be on a campus and meet with coach [Rich] Rodriguez and see the system and understand what types of opportunities are out there."

Paulus can play right away if he decides to play for Michigan. He graduates from Duke in June and he can enroll in a graduate program and play right away. But I think good 'ole Greg thinks of himself highly.

Paulus said he can only play for Football Bowl Subdivision teams, ruling out a move to a Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) member.

I guess he is too good to play at Delaware like Joe Flacco. Also it's been reported that Duke football coach David Cutcliffe would only accept Paulus if he moved to wide receiver. Apparently he is too good for that, and he is too good to sit on the bench.

Paulus is solely interested in playing quarterback and would enter Michigan's open competition under center if he chooses to join the Wolverines.

"The chance to compete for a starting job is important," Paulus said. "With me only having an opportunity to play for one year, the chance and the opportunity tocompete at a high level is important. There is an opportunity to do that at Michigan."

Michigan already has a stud freshman at quarterback name Tate Forcier. He has took the majority of snaps in spring practice and has reportedly looked really good. Paulus though wants the job.

"The quarterback position is like being the point guard," Paulus said. "You get the ball every possession and every play. That's exciting to me."

This quote made me fall out of my chair in laughter. The last time I checked, Paulus lost his starting point guard role to Jon Scheyer at Duke. The last time I checked, Paulus was sitting on the end of the bench.

Look I know this guy was an high school player of the year in football, but he hasn't played the sport in four years. I think there might be some rust there.

But think about this for a second. How cool would it be to see Paulus loose the starting quarterback position to a freshman? I would love to see him standing on the sidelines during one of those cold November days in the Big House watching a freshman play the position he is destined for.

Update: Paulus has been on everything today. Radio, T.V., books written about his tea bagging experiences at Duke. If you hated this guy before, today was not a good day.

Greg Paulus to the NFL?

I have to admit, one of the things I am going to miss next college basketball season will be Greg Paulus. I will miss him getting tea bagged by opposing players. I will miss him flopping. I will miss Mike Patrick protecting Paulus. Oh wait.....

That's why I was surprised to hear the Green Bay Packers were having Paulus work out as a quarterback.

I am not surprised that he is willing to go the NFL route. After all he was the Gatorade football player of the year. And if you weren't sure about that, Dickie V. always reminded us that he was once offered a scholarship to Norte Dame.

But why would the Packers watch his work out? They have the franchise in Aaron Rodgers. A 2Nd round pick in Brian Brohm. And a national championship winning quarterback in Matt Flynn. I wish him the best of luck.

He earned widespread praise, however, for his conduct and demeanor after losing the starting job, giving guidance to the younger players and never showing outward disgruntlement.

I do have to ask. If he does make an NFL roster, will Jensen Reed produce another video like this?

BYE-BYE GREG PAULUS, IT'S BEEN FUN

Well with Villanova's ass-kicking of Duke tonight that means only one thing. O.K. that means multiple things, but those are too many to list here. No with Duke's loss, that means Greg Paulus has played the last game in Durham, North Carolina.

Little Greg, grew up in Syracuse, New York. He is only one of two players to be named National High School Football Player of the Year, and not go on to play football.

He was heavily recruited by Syracuse, Norte Dame, and Duke. He choose Duke and began his career in 2005.

His freshman year was the best year Duke has had with him on their team. They won the ACC title, while Paulus had 187 assists for the year.

His sophomore season he struggled with an injured foot. Sadly, he recovered. Also that was the year he famously flopped in their tournament game against VCU which they would go on to lose.



His Junior season was his best statistical season. But Duke still lost in the 2nd round to West Virginia.

His Senior season was his worst. He was demoted in favor of Nolan Smith. They promptly got their ass handed to them by Villanova in the Sweet 16.

I am personally going to miss what Greg Paulus has given us. So this is my personal tribute to Greg Paulus.
