Video: Don't F*ck With Buck

I won't go on any rants about "unwritten" rules in baseball. Let the players and managers govern themselves and stay out of their way. They don't need some asshole on their couch or on a TV set (looking at you Mike Wilbon) wagging their finger at baseball players for governing themselves. Yes we might think it's foolish, but we're not there in the ballpark or in the clubhouses.

Now that being said I love sign stealing and I love when the team who's signs are being steeled get mad. Well dumbfucks create better signs. How hard is it to change signs quickly? Why are you angry at another team stealing signs when it's your dumbasses that created the shitty signs in the first place?

I bring this up last night because you could see the season slipping out of Joe Girardi's hands last night in Baltimore. Girardi thought the Orioles 3rd base coach Bobby Dickerson was stealing the Yankee signs. So he yelled at Dickerson. Well Orioles manager Buck Showalter or any other manager would never allow the opposing team to yell at one of their coaches/players so Buck got out of the dugout and yelled back at Girardi leading to this.



Showalter giving Girardi the throat slashing gesture like he's Chris Webber in his prime is my favorite moment of the baseball season. It's absolutely beautiful. It just says, "Your season is over and you know it." And of course the Yankees lost last night slipping to 3 games back in the wild card while the Orioles are now 1.5 games back.

The lesson here is that you better be more creative at creating signs. For someone who has a industrial engineer degree, Girardi sure does have his signs stolen a lot. The other lesson here is don't fuck with Buck Showalter.

A lot of craziness in sports this past weekend. Thankfully all the top moments have been recorded. Here are the videos of the weekend.

In a scene very reminiscent from the "What's Your Deal?" scene, Jim Schwartz didn't particularly like Jim Harbaugh's exuberant handshake after the 49ers victory over Detroit. Schwartz decided to let Harbaugh know about his feelings which lead to both teams confronting each other in the hallway to the locker rooms.



The Indianapolis Colts lost again on Sunday. They're now 0-6 on the year and are frontrunners for Andrew Luck. Didn't stop Dallas Clark from making this ridiculous catch. (Via Jose3030)



Now I've seen a lot of celebrations. But I've never seen a defensive player flip the bird after a sack like AJ Hawk did on Sunday.



There was also tragedy on Sunday. Indy car driver Dan Wheldon lost his life in a wreck at Las Vegas. Instead of completing the race, the drivers decided to give Wheldon a five lap salute. Be prepared to cry watching this video.

Victor Cruz was both hero and goat on Sunday. First he was a hero for making this incredible catch against the Seattle Osprey.



Then Cruz was a goat for not coming up with this catch which lead to the game-winning score for the Seattle Osprey.



Hockey cheerleaders are the dumbest idea ever. It's the kind of idea teams use to goose up their standings only the cheerleaders aren't enough to get people into the stands. That's why I laugh at this ice cheerleader falling down on the rink. (Via The Big Lead)



My favorite moment of the weekend involved a punter. During the LSU-Florida game, Les Miles does what he does best, call for trick plays involving the kicker or punter. This time it involved punter Brad Wing taking the ball and running into the end zone. One problem though, Wing styled his touchdown before the end zone and was called for a penalty so the touchdown didn't count. It still makes me laugh though that a punter is styling against Florida. In one of the most bizarre fights I've ever seen, Victor Ortiz lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr. via knockout. A few seconds after Ortiz head butted Mayweather, Floyd sucker punched Ortiz to record the victory. The fight though was nothing compared to the post-fight interview between Mayweather and Larry Merchant. (Via Sports Grid)



I'm a big fan of the scoreboard. The scoreboard never lies and it drives losing fans crazy when they think their team is better than the team that just defeated their team (Hey Phillies fan, look at the scoreboard of the 2010 NLCS). That's why I loved Michael Vick pointing to the scoreboard as he was leaving the field with a concussion last night in Atlanta. The Falcons thought would get the last laugh and get to point at the scoreboard after the game was over. (Via Sports Grid)



The 49ers-Cowboys game was painful yesterday, for both sides. The Cowboys had quite a few players leave the game because of injury. The 49ers though suffered the biggest pain and that was defeat. A reality show star Jesse Holley broke the 49ers fans hearts with this play in overtime. Holley holding the ball over his head before reaching the end zone caused 49ers announcer Ted Robinson to go on a epic rant about players celebrating early, hello Desean Jackson, that I will forever remember and laugh about.



And finally we have two grandmothers shotgunning beers at a Michigan tailgate. I might become a Michigan fan after watching this video. (Via MGoBlog)

Rex Ryan thinks Bruce Boudreau Has a Potty Mouth

Last night was the debut episode of Penguins-Capitals 24/7 on HBO and let's just say it didn't disappoint. HBO does a spectacular job with their reality TV shows based on sports. Whether their following Floyd Mayweather before a fight or following a NFL team during training camp. This edition of 24/7 is different for a couple of reasons. First it's based on two hockey teams. Second it's taking place after the season has already began and will follow the teams until the meet in the annual 'Winter Classic' on New Year's Day.

Where the show isn't different is with the personalities and Washington Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau fits right into the HBO/Rex Ryan/Cursing mold. Check out this speech he gave to his team after a loss.



I have to be honest. I've never heard Bruce Boudreau speak before until last night's episode. He sounds like a cross between Stan Van Gundy and a 13-year old boy going through puberty.

The other highlight of the show was Pittsburgh's Deryk Engelland fighting Toronto's Colton Orr with microphones turned on and the aftermath of what happened to Engelland after the fight.



I do suggest watching this series, even if you don't like hockey.You'll certainly love the personalities of the show. You'll love to watch Alexander Ovechkin shaving in his underwear without shame. And you'll certainly love Bruce Boudreau even though he might now even be the Capitals coach once we hit the New Year.

RIP Leslie Nielsen

What a terrible weekend for me. The Sacramento Kings are plunging towards the abyss. California lost to Washington and are not eligible for a bowl game for the first time since 2002. The San Jose Sharks are injured and inconsistent. And the 49ers haven't even played yet this week. And then this sobering news came over the news wire yesterday, actor Leslie Nielsen has passed away. Yes, Enrico Palazzo has passed away. Nielsen starred in two iconic movies from the 1980's 'Airplane!' and 'Naked Gun.' Nielsen also starred in 'The Poseidon Adventure.' Nielsen may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.

"Well, you know what the first thing I'm going to say is: 'Spartans! What is your profession?' "One of my favorite coaches in all of sports is Tom Izzo. There is something about the guy I've always loved. I would run through a wall for the guy. This next video is another reason why I love Tom Izzo. At Midnight Madness at the Breslin Center in East Lansing, Izzo brought out none other than King Leonidas to pump up the Sparty crowd. Yes, Gerard Butler made an appearance in East Lansing and went into full character. Butler yelled at the crowd, "Well, you know what the first thing I'm going to say is: 'Spartans! What is your profession?' " As the crowd cheered Butler spouted off his famous line from '300.'



Incredible! Incredible from the stand point that Butler would show up on a college campus and chant lines from his own movie. Incredible from the standpoint that Izzo, know as a showman at Midnight Madness, could pull something like that off. I love Tom Izzo and Sparty.

Video: Boise State Defeats Virginia Tech in The Final Minute

Boise State 33 Virginia Tech 30: Boise State somehow defeated the Virginia Tech Hokies. I say somehow because Boise State blew a 17-0 lead, turned over the ball twice, and had 11 penalties for 105 yards. None of that mattered as Kellen Moore drove the Broncos down the field, while being aided by a questionable personnel foul, and hit Austin Pettis for the game-winning touchdown.

All what Boise State needs to do now is beat Oregon State at the end of month and they should go undefeated on the season. Will they make the championship game is what is yet to be determined. I still don't believe they'll make it to the championship game. Not even if there's not another undefeated team. The coaches would never vote Boise State higher than third.

As Musberger and Herbstreit pointed out the AP poll doesn't matter (Boise State is ranked 3rd in the AP) while the coaches poll ultimately matters when it comes to the BCS (Boise State is ranked 5th in the coaches poll). You really think the coaches would vote Boise State into the championship over a one-loss Texas or Florida? If you think that will happened, then you live in a dream world that I want to joined.

We're never going to see a Boise State or TCU in the championship game unless there's a playoff or there's a plus-one system. Sad to think about it, especially when Boise State has earned the right to at least be in the championship game discussion.

'Around the Horn' Talks Jay Mariotti's Arrest

The big news a couple of weeks ago was that Jay Mariotti was arrested for an alleged domestic dispute. Mariotti was suspended from both his AOL job and from his appearances on ESPN's 'Around the Horn.' Yesterday on 'Around the Horn' the panel discussed the Mariotti incident. They didn't discuss the actual incident, but rather the reaction is it got. SI's Richard Deitsch commended the panel for the discussing the issue instead of just ignoring it. Needless to say this segment was mostly uncomfortable especially the Kevin Blackistone part. Watch for yourself. (Awful Announcing)

Pete Carroll Is Up To His Usual Tricks

Pete Carroll is infamous for his practical jokes. He famously staged the death of LenDale White at USC by throwing a dummy dressed in White's jersey off the the roof of the building. He pulled a practical joke on one of his players by saying he was arrested for Internet piracy. Everson Griffen faced the wrath of Carroll's jokes. With Carroll moving on to the Seattle Seahawks, his practical jokes have moved on with him. Watch Carroll placed rubber snakes in an ice chest and hilarity ensues.

R.I.P. George Steinbrenner

Yankees owner George Steinbrenner passed away today at the age of 80. Say what you want about his ownership of the Yankees and how he changed baseball for the better or worse, you had to respect the man. He was passionate about winning and would do anything possible to achieve that goal. I believe every sports fan wants an owner like that. For now let's remember Steinbrenner for his great appearances on "Seinfeld."

'Heart of Darkness': Top human movie villains of all-time. My personnel favorite is Hans Gruber of "Die Hard". My second favorite villain is Hannibal Lector. They're both creative and cunning and they both thoroughly make their movies more enjoyable to watch.

When I was a kid during Summer Vacation, my mother, brother, and I would watch the original 'Star Wars' series. A fan was born right then and there. I especially loved the lightsaber duels. A Great Tournament & Thank You's

The 2010 tournament will go down as one of the greatest tournaments of all-time. There were game-winning shots, upsets, and classic games.

The title game last night was an instant classic. While I'm not happy about Duke winning, I must give them props. Duke played smart basketball throughout the entire tournament. That's how they were able to beat a more athletic Baylor team. While Duke may not have been the best team in the regular season, they were certainly the best team in the tournament. Amazingly for Duke, this title rested on a last-second shot by Butler's Gordan Hayward. Luckily for Duke the shot missed, but it was damn close.



This wasn't the only great moments of the tournament. Who can forget about Ali Farokhmanesh and Northern Iowa beating the number one overall team in the tournament Kansas.



Or Korie Lucious beating Maryland with a last-second shot



The Saint Mary's Gaels and Omar Samhan became one of the Cinderella teams of the tournament after beating Villanova and reaching the Sweet 16.



The Xavier-Kansas State Sweet 16 game will go down as a classic. Jordan Crawford became known more for this game, than his dunk on LeBron James.



Murray State's Danero Thomas broke the hearts of Vanderbilt with a last-second game-winning shot.



And I don't think anyone will ever forget West Virginia coach Bob Huggins hovering and hugging Da'Sean Butler after Butler blew out his ACL against Duke in the Final 4.


And now to the thank yous. Live blogging the entire NCAA tournament is a lot of work. For one your live blogging 10 days of college basketball. I love college basketball but the games can be slow and boring and anyone can lose interest in the games very quickly. So I want to give a huge thanks to JFein for being my wingman for this tournament. JFein actually did the toughest work by live blogging Championship Week. I want to thank Mookie and Kris for their help as producers. Jame Craven for running the scoreboards when he was available.

I want to thank Rick James Bible Owner for making us all laugh. I want to thank Al, Flames Fan, and Scott for not being trolls. These guys actually showed up and just commented. They didn't act like jerks like some people who showed up.

Howard Schnellenberger Talks About "The U"

Here is an interview with Howard Schnellenberger talking about the ESPN documentary "The U".



A couple of things from this interview. One of the greatest "What if's?" in sports, is what if Howard Schnellenberger never leaves the University of Miami for the USFL?

Does Miami ever have a swagger? Schnellenberger was well known for running his teams like a boot camp. I don't think we would have ever seen Miami players celebrating touchdowns, wearing fatigues, or the school be hit with violations. He was too much of a General to let his teams just run wild, like the Miami program eventually did once he left.

Also if Schnellenberger never leaves Miami, does he go down as one of the greatest college football coaches of all time? The talent was there and Schnellenberger was enough of an offensive mind to utilize that talent. I think if Schnellenberger stays at Miami, he goes down in the ranks of all-time great college football coaches with Bear Bryant, John McKay, and Joe Paterno.

The other thing I took from this interview was his opinion about the famous Nebraska "Fumblerooski" in the 1984 Orange Bowl. He called that play “illegal immoral, and unsportsmanlike play.” Classic.

Happy Thanksgiving

Not much around these parts this week. I've had some mid-terms this week at school then tomorrow of course is Thanksgiving. So I haven't been posting much this week. Don't worry though, everything will go back to normal next week. Until then, enjoy Thanksgiving with your family and enjoy these videos. These videos will be completely random, so don't be too confused.

Since I'm in a giving mood, enjoy this video on Labrador Retrievers. These are my favorite breed of dogs and they are arguably the best breed of dog in the world. They can do everything. They can retrieve your bird that you shoot. They are gentle with your kids and other animals. Quite simply, they are the best dogs.



Hakeem Olajuwon is the most underrated basketball player of all-time. He's also the most forgotten superstar. Olajuwon was the only NBA center that wasn't a stiff. He had some of the greatest low post moves ever. Also he dominated games between the other three top centers during his time, David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, and Shaquille O'Neal. This video shows how Hakeem dominated Robinson in the 1995 Western Conference Finals.



And what would Thanksgiving be without Charley brown?
