Yankees owner George Steinbrenner passed away today at the age of 80. Say what you want about his ownership of the Yankees and how he changed baseball for the better or worse, you had to respect the man. He was passionate about winning and would do anything possible to achieve that goal. I believe every sports fan wants an owner like that. For now let's remember Steinbrenner for his great appearances on "Seinfeld."

Fan Beaten To Death Outside Of Phillies Ballpark
Philadelphia sports fans are sort of notorious. Whether it's booing Santa Claus or cheering Michael Irvin when he lays motionless on the ground. It is what Philly fans are known for. And this weekend has been one of the worst of Philly fans. Already this weekend we have seen a Phillies fan point a lazer pointer at opposing players in the batters box. And now this.

Fan Beaten to Death Outside Citizen’s Bank Park in Philly ( The Big Lead)
Police say a group from a bachelor party got into a fight with other patrons at McFaddens Restaurant in the Citizens Bank Park complex. The trouble started at about 7 p.m. during the closing innings of Saturday night's Phillies-Cardinals game.Horrific is the only word I can use to describe this.
The groups were told to leave the bar. The dispute, which involved as many as 30 people, moved outside to a parking lot near the ballpark. Police say 22-year-old David Sale of Lansdale was assaulted there and taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was pronounced dead.

The Death of McNair Is Hard to Grasp (Update)
I have to say that I am still in shock over the death of Steve McNair. I was at my parents house ready to eat some barbecue and light up some fireworks when my brother first told me about McNair's death. The details surrounding his death since though, is what has been so shocking. It was first reported that his death was a Murder-Suicide. It was reported that a women approached McNair about a year ago and claimed he slipped a 'roofie' in her drink. A 'roofie' is slang for date-rape drug. And that her boyfriend "was going to kill him." This rumor has not been shot down by police yet.
Then the police finally revealed the identity of the women who was killed along with McNair. Sahel Kazemi a 20-year-old women was found dead along side McNair. She was McNair's girlfriend who had hoped that McNair would divorce from his wife and marry her. There has been rumors that she killed McNair because he wouldn't marry her and then she took her own life.
McNair's wife is now claiming that she never knew about his girlfriend.
Nashville police are saying though that McNair was murdered. He was shot twice in the head and twice in the chest. Kazemi had a single gunshot wound to the head. And that the weapon used in the murders was found underneath Kazemi. The police are not ruling out a Murder-Suicide, but they are also not ruling out homicides. Possibly the jilted boyfriend killed the both of them out of rage.
The details surrounding this case are so puzzling that McNair's death has been hard to grasp. Who killed McNair and this young women? Why they were killed? Is it a murder-suicide? Either way you look at it, "Air" McNair's death is shocking right to the core.
Update: PFT is reporting that these murders could have been professional hits. Florio, who is a former lawyer, thinks that a professional could have killed both McNair and Kazemi and made the crime scene look like a murder-suicide. This case is so bizarre that I wouldn't rule out anything.

R.I.P. Michael Jackson
"The King of Pop" Michael Jackson has died at the age of 50.
He was rushed to the UCLA medical center earlier today after having an heart attack. A family friend confirmed later that Jackson had indeed died.
Say what you want about this guy's personnel life, he was one hell of a singer. His album 'Thriller' is one of the highest selling albums of all-time. He entertained millions of people and his songs are still played on the radio today. I leave you with two of my favorite Jackson songs.

R.I.P. Wayman Tisdale
Today is indeed a sad day in Northern California and Oklahoma. Former Oklahoma Sooner and Sacramento Kings great Wayman Tisdale has passed away. He was 44.Tisdale was fighting bone cancer since 2007 and even had to have his right leg amputated.
Tisdale is a Oklahoma legend. He was a thee-time all-American averaging 25.6 points and 10.1 rebounds in his career at Oklahoma. Tisdale was once again remembered, when Blake Griffin asked him if it was o.k. if he could wear his number 23. Of course Tisdale said it was fine and his legend as a good guy lived on.
I personally remember Tisdale as the first Kings player I loved. I remember the teams he was on were terrible, but he would always go out on the floor every night and try his hardest. His finest season in the NBA occurred in 89-90 with the Kings when he averaged 22.3 points and 10.1 rebounds a game.
Oh by the way, Tisdale was also an accomplished musician.
He leaves his wife Regina and four children.
Wayman Tisdale will be missed.

R.I.P. Chuck Daly
Former NBA and college coach Chuck Daly passed away last night. He was 78. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March and was undergoing treatment. He died in Jupiter, Florida with his family at his side.Daly is famous for coaching the Detroit "Bad Boys" from 1983-1992. He lead Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Dennis Rodman, and John Salley to back-to-back championships in 1989 and 1990. He will also be remembered as the first coach of the original dream team back in 1992. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1994. His Detroit teams were famous for their rough play and tough defense. "Jordan Rules" was Daly's way of stopping Michael Jordan.
Daly also coached the Cleveland Cavaliers, Orlando Magic and the New Jersey Nets. He also coached at Punxsutawney High School, Boston College, and Penn before coaching in the NBA. He was elected as one of the Top Ten Coaches in NBA history back in 1996. He will be missed.

Hulk Hogan Will Go O.J. On You
I think everyone knows Hulk Hogan is going through an ugly divorce right now with his ex-wife Linda. Well Hogan isn't taking Linda's new choice for a boyfriend well."I could have turned everything into a crime scene, like OJ, cutting everybody's throat," he told Rolling Stone Magazine.I think Hulk needs to lay off the roids. They are shrinking his package and turning him crazy. He goes on to say.
"You live half a mile from the 20,000-square-foot home you can't go to anymore, you're driving through downtownClearwater and see a 19-year-old boy driving your Escalade, and you know that a 19-year-old boy is sleeping in your bed, with your wife . . . I totally understand OJ. I get it."I can totally understand why Hulk is upset. I would go O.J. on here to.
No in all seriousness Hulk needs to tone down. The Chris Benoit incident is still in the back of many peoples minds. And the last thing wrestling needs now, is the biggest wrestler of all-time threatening his wife and saying he understands O.J. He needs to calm down, get back in the ring, or just move. But he shouldn't threaten anyone, because people will start thinking he is peaking on steroids. And maybe he is?

R.I.P. Mark Fidrych
Man I hate doing this. First Harry Kalas passed away today. Now Mark "The Bird" Fidrych has passed away at the age of 54."Former All-Star pitcher Mark "The Bird" Fidrych has been found dead in an apparent accident at his farm in Northborough,Massachusetts. He was 54.
Worcester County district attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. says a family friend found Fidrych about 2:30 p.m. Monday beneath a pickup truck. He appeared to be working on the truck, Early said."
Fidrych will always be remembered for his magical rookie season in 1976 when he went 19-9 and won the American League rookie of the year.
Also people remember him as the pitcher who would talk to the ball and would groom the mound. Injuries cut short his career.
Thoughts and prayers with the Fidrych family.

Another Wrestler Found Dead
Here we go again. Tell me where you have heard this before. A wrestler is found dead in his or hers apartment. There is no sign of foul play but there seems to be drugs involved. If you have heard this before, then you now where I am going with this story. At approximately 8:00pm on Friday, March 13, 2009, Tampa Police Officers responded to the Post Harbour Apartments, located at 725 Harbour Place Drive to check on the welfare of Mr. Andrew J. Martin. A neighbor reported that she could see into his apartment through a window and that Mr. Martin appeared motionless for several hours.Andrew Martin, known in the wrestling world as Test, was found dead at the age of 33. He wrestled in the WWE up until 2007 when he was released due to a failed drug test.
Officers entered the apartment and discovered Mr. Martin to be deceased. At this time there is no indication of foul play. The deceased was transported to the Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The date of the autopsy is undetermined at this time. The next of kin has been notified of the death.
Just another sad story coming out of the wrestling world. How many wrestlers have to be found dead, before someone does something.
I know Martin wasn't wrestling with the WWE before his death. But they have had wrestlers die during their stay with the WWE. Namely Eddie Guerrero and Brian Pillman. The WWE needs to do a better job with the health of their wrestlers.
I have said before, if there was an organization that needed an union it is the WWE. Too many former or current wrestlers of the WWE have turned up dead. And the majority of the deaths revolve around heart failure due to steroid use.
After the Chris Benoit murder-murder-suicide, that should have been a clue for them.
Oh they rolled out some sort of drug testing policy, and even suspended a couple of high-profile wrestlers, but it isn't enough.
Guys are still showing up on T.V. jacked-up as ever. They are still getting hit in the head with steal chairs. They still have no off-season. And more and more wrestlers are popping up dead. There is at least one a year who ends up dead.
Add Andrew Martin to the list of wrestlers found dead in a room somewhere. He is just the latest. There will be more. And the WWE or other wrestling organizations still don't do enough for their former employees.
Business as usual in the wrestling profession.
