Pure Joy

The San Jose Sharks-Los Angeles Kings playoff series was already memorable. There had already been an two overtime games, a four-goal comeback, and a series of bone crushing hits and game six was no different last night.

The momentum of game six shifted several times throughout the game. The Kings scored two goals in the third period to tie the game at 3. Late in the game with the score tied, the refs called a ridiculous five-minute penalty on San Jose's Jamie McGinn. I thought for sure the Sharks would either lose at the end of regulation or during the beginning of overtime while on the penalty kill. The Sharks PK unit along with goaltender Anntti Niemi stoned the Kings and successfully killed the penalty. Then at the 2:22 mark in overtime Joe Thornton, who has been called a playoff choker whether you agree or disagree with that sentiment, scored the game/series winning goal.

That could have been the only way for this series to end. In overtime with Quick looking dejected after giving up the game-winning goal. Just an incredible game and a incredible series. Pure joy after the Thornton game-winner, unless you're Terry Murray.
