Sharks Complete Incredible Comeback
Before last night there had only been three teams that made 4-goal comebacks during a Stanley Cup playoff. After last night there are now four teams that have made the 4-goal comeback in a Stanly Cup playoff game with the latest team being the San Jose Sharks.
The Sharks started game 3 as poorly as they looked in game 2. The Kings took a 4-0 lead by the early part of the 2nd period and then the Sharks made their comeback. Patrick Marleau, Ryane Clowe, and Logan Couture all scored to make the score 4-3 at the 13:47 mark of the 2nd period. Los Angeles scored another goal to make the score 5-3 Kings and that would be the last time the Kings would score. Ryane Clowe would score again to go along with Joe Pavelski's game-tying score. The Sharks scored five goals in the 2nd period, a franchise record, to become the fourth team to erase a 4-0 deficit in Stanley Cup playoff history.
Neither team would score in the third period so of course this game had to go to overtime. After no one scored in the third period, I thought we could be in for a long overtime. I was wrong. Devin Setoguchi scored at the 3:09 mark to complete the Sharks comeback and give San Jose a 2-1 series lead. Six different Sharks had two points on the night and 12 different Sharks had points on the night. Just an incredible game that I'll always remember.
