Breaking News: Our Nightmare is over

Our long national nightmare is over. No the economy hasn't recovered yet. No there is peace in the Middle East. But Brett Favre has finally made a decision about his future in the NFL.

And the verdict is, he's staying retired. Or at least according to ESPN.

Quarterback Brett Favre has informed Minnesota Vikings officials that he will remain retired, according to The Star Tribune.

Coach Brad Childress confirmed the news to the Star Tribune, leaving the Vikings in an unexpected and awkward spot with training camp set to open Wednesday. The Vikings are now left to choose between Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels as their 2009 starter.

"I just think it was a rare opportunity to explore a Hall of Fame quarterback who had background in the NFC and in this division," Childress said to the newspaper. "He knows our system inside out ... This doesn't change anything about how I feel about our football team."

Well I guess Rachel Nichols can finally pack up her tent and get off Favre's lawn. That's unless Favre wakes up tomorrow and decides he wants to play again. We've all been here before folks.

Breaking News: Mark Buehrle Throws a Perfect Game

We saw Jonathon Sanchez throw a no-hitter a couple of months ago(even though it should have been a perfect game) and now we got to see White Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle throw a perfect game. Buehrle struck out six batters in the process. This isn't the first time though for Buehrle. He has thrown a no-hitter before.

Buehrle though would have never had the perfect game if it wasn't for Dwayne Wise. Wise was a ninth inning defensive replacement, and he made one of the best catches I have ever seen. Watch for yourself.



Congrats to Mark Buehrle. And he better buy a nice steak dinner for Mr. Wise.

Breaking News: Jonathon Sanchez Throws a No-Hitter

San Francisco Giants pitcher Jonathon Sanchez just threw a No-Hitter against the San Diego Padres.

Sanchez struck out 11 and walked none. Because Juan Uribe committed an error in the game, he couldn't record the Perfect game. Either way congrats, to Jonathon Sanchez!

Breaking News: Orlando Will Face Off Against Los Angeles

There will be many executives crying tonight, because they will not be getting their LeBron-Kobe match up. Instead they will be getting a Orlando-Los Angeles match up.

Dwight Howard outplayed LeBron James scoring 40 points in the game. I guess we have to Rip off the Master of Panic label off of Stan Van Gundy.

Breaking News: Rachel Alexandra wins the Preakness

No surprise, the filly Rachel Alexandra became the first girl horse to win the Preakness in 85 years.

Mine That Bird finished second.

The track was kind of sloppy because of rain. The best part of the race, was at the beginning. When they staged the horses, one of the horses bucked it's rider right off his back. Other than that, kind of a boring race.

And of course, Calvin Borel and his nails on the chalk board voice was going crazy after the win.

BREAKING: Auburn Chooses Their Coach

After a coaching search that included interviews with, Buffalo coach Turner Gill, Ball State coach Brady Hoke, and a few others Auburn has finally choose a coach.

According to CBS Dennis Dodd, Auburn has chosen Iowa State coach Gene Chizik as their next coach.

Chizik was the Auburn defensive coordinator from 2002-2004, including leading the best defense in the nation in 2004 en route to an unbeaten season.

Chizik then left for Texas, where he was also the defensive coordinator, leading the team to the 2005 National Championship. Chizik was one of the hottest assistant coaches in the nation after that season.

In 2007, Iowa St. choose Chizik to lead their program. He only went 5-19 in two season's at Iowa St., including a zero win season in the Big 12 this year.

This is an interesting choice for Auburn. He is familiar with the program and conference, but he has not been that successful in his tenure as the Iowa St. coach. Hoke or Gill would have been better choices because of their track record of turning around their respective programs.

I hope Chizik is ready for the always demanding Bobby "Jet fuel" Lowder.
