This play exemplifies everything that is wrong with the Brewers and everything that is right with the Pittsburgh Pirates this season. Or look at it the other way, is this bad base running or a smart double play?
The answer is that it's both. First Aoki should know you don't run when the ball his hit either to shortstop or third base. Second Jonathon Lucroy should have realized he's a catcher and he should have never tried to leg out a double. The Pirates would keep the game tied because of that play and would go on to win the game. With the Cardinals loss, the Pirates are now back in first place. The NL Central is going to be exciting the rest of the season.
