The National League playoff situation is all set. The Giants eliminated the Dodgers last night so that means St. Louis is the last wild card team and will travel to Atlanta for the play-in game.
Where it gets interesting is the American League. The A's have tied the Rangers for the lead in the American League West. Yes the A's and Rangers are tied for the AL West and play for the divisional crown this afternoon. Then you have the AL East with the Yankees and Orioles. We need a Yankees loss and a Orioles win to see these two teams play tomorrow in a playoff for the AL East. (Keeps fingers cross). I'm sure this isn't exactly what Selig envisioned with the second wild card but I bet it comes close.

Braves are already beating Pittsburgh :( Oh the Pirates.
ReplyDeleteOne fight you haven't talked about is the fight for the 1st overall position in the NL between Washington and Cincinnati.
ReplyDeleteI really want to see the Rangers win today for two reasons: 1) it increases the chance that the Raiders will have a 100% grass field for the rest of the year and 2) A's fans and their whining amuses me.
ReplyDeleteWell if the A's lose today they'll still continue to play. The Raiders still have probably two more weeks on the half grass/half baseball diamond field.
DeleteOur next home game is against the Jaguars on the 21st. There has been talk as well that the NFL may move that game to Monday night.
ReplyDelete"Our"? You play for the Raiders now? Kidding.
DeleteUnless the A's aren't as tough as they appear, then yeah maybe the Raiders won't have to worry about the field.
Yeah, yeah, sometimes I slip up with the whole "we/our" thing. I know a lot of homers of various persuasions, so it happens
DeleteAnything that will help keep my mind off of how bad the Falcons could beat this team next Sunday is okay by me.
I really hope to get to use my tickets for tomorrow night.
ReplyDeleteDo you get a refund if that game isn't played?
DeleteYes.
DeletePhillies are trying to ruin the Nats chance at the best record. Up 1-0.
ReplyDeleteAbout fucking time Teddy got his.
ReplyDeleteBob Carpenter: "Can we call Teddy the Duane Kuiper of mascots?
