There's only one game this week that will get all the hype. I'm of course am talking about LSU vs Alabama. This is really the only game that matters on Saturday, but there are other games worth checking out. Here's this week's must list.
Thursday, November 3rd
Florida State at Boston College, 8:00 (ESPN: Rece Davis, Jesse Palmer, Craig James, Jenn Brown): I highlight this game for one reason, these Thursday night games are getting worse and worse. I will continue to highlight these terrible Thursday night games until we finally receive quality games on this night.
Saturday, November 5th
Texas Tech at Texas, Noon (FX: Gus Johnson, Charles Davis, Tim Brewster): Texas Tech is a bizarre team. They either upset Oklahoma in Norman or get blown out by Iowa State at home. I guess that's just Tommy Tuberville doing his thing. So of course this game can only go two ways. Texas Tech beats Texas or Texas Tech loses by 21 points.
Vanderbilt at Florida, Noon (SEC Network: Dave Neal, Andre Ware, Cara Capuano): Florida is a disastrous mix of injuries and youth, while Vanderbilt has lost two straight heart-breakers. This might not be the greatest game of the day, but it's one to check out with 5 minutes left.
Army at Air Force, 3:30 (CBS: Spero Dedes, Steve Beuerlein, Lewis Johnson): I've always had a strong infinity for the service academies. In my own dopey way I feel like I must watch their games to honor the young men who serve their country. I'm also in love though with the triple-option.
Texas A&M at Oklahoma, 3:30 (ABC: Sean McDonough, Matt Millen, Heather Cox): Texas A&M continues their Big XII farewell tour with a stop in Norman. Texas A&M may have lost three games this year, but they're certainly interesting to watch. I watch them just to see how they are going to screw their next almost victory.
South Carolina at Arkansas, 7:15 (ESPN: Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge, Holly Rowe): The underrated game of the week. Too bad this game will be overshadowed by the LSU-Bama game. Both of these teams can be really fun to watch on offense, even if South Carolina no longer has Stephen Garcia on their team ;(
LSU at Alabama, 8:00 (CBS: Verne Lundquist, Gary Danielson, Tracy Wolfson): I along with the rest of the nation apparently according to the ESPN coverage, couldn't be more excited for the Game of the Century between LSU and Bama. Both teams have spectacular defenses and suspect offenses. The key to this game will be Trent Richardson for Bama and if LSU can stop him. I'm personally rooting for a close game that has Bama on top and Crazy Les Miles calls for a fake field goal that actually works that goes for the game-winning touchdown. If that happens, then we all win.
Kansas State at Oklahoma State, 8:00 (ABC: Brent Musburger, Kirk Herbstreit, Lisa Salters): This is another solid game just to keep an eye on if there's a defensive lull in the LSU-Bama game (which is most likely will be the case). Both of these teams can score points, the question will be if K-State can keep up with OK State's pace because they couldn't last week against Oklahoma.
Oregon at Washington, 10:30 (FSN: Craig Bolerjack, Joel Klatt, Petros Papadakis): I think if there's one game where Oregon could be upset it's against Washington. The game is in Seattle and the Washington offense can put some points on the board. Also Oregon looks beatable this year, but you have to stop them in the third quarter. That's when they dominate. You have to stop them in that quarter.
Recipe of the Week, Turkey Pot Pie: Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Instead of making sandwiches with the leftover turkey, how about make a pot pie with the leftovers? This recipe of the week will help you make a delicious turkey pot pie the day after Thanksgiving.
Alcoholic Beverage of the Week, Mendocino Oatmeal Stout: For whatever reason Oatmeal Stouts have become very popular recently. The best one in my opinion is the Mendocino Oatmeal Stout. This stout actually tastes like a Starbucks coffee which is really unique and delicious. This Stout is also a great pair with the recipe of the week.
LSU VS Bama should be awesome. I haven't been this excited for a college football game since the last big Ohio State vs Michigan game. (Sorry RJBO)
