Being An NHL Linesman Can Be Dangerous

We complain a lot about referees. It's a part of being a fan. I even complain about them, but I do have respect for referees especially refs in contact sports like football and hockey. They are in a danger zone anywhere on the field or ice. Example: last night's Minnesota-Vancouver game.

Vancouver's Max Lapierre (who I hate with the passion of a thousand suns) tried to dump Minnesota player Cal Clutterbuck into the Vancouver bench. Clutterback tried to fight back with his fists, but he accidentally nailed linesman Darren Gibbs.

That linesman must have a iron jaw. That was a straight hard punch right to his chops. Much respect for him. Oh yeah Lapierre, Clutterbuck, and Dan Humhuis were kicked of the game for this little scuffle. Karma was restored when Vancouver lost 5-1.
