College Football Open Thread: Week 10

Big day. Bama vs. LSU kicks off at 8 PM and that's really the game everyone wants to see. There are also some other games worth keeping an eye on. I haven't been this excited for a college football Saturday since the first week of the season. Should be a tremendous day. So enjoy whatever game you're watching, leaving comments, and don't be a troll.

  1. Can I just pretend Brian Wilson doesn't pitch for the Giants?

    ReplyDelete
  2. "Backs vs. Cocks"-Brian Wilson

    That was great.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Lee just trolled Bama fans. Awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I guess Hoke wants pneumonia. Why else would he not wear a jacket?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Nice to see neither Michigan B1G school can tackle this afternoon. Geez.

    ReplyDelete
  6. @RJBO: anOSU can't tackle either this morning.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I didn't even notice the Stanzi-inspired Hawkeye logo helmets. Heh.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Not smart, Iowa. Good field position after stopping Michigan (again) and they quick count on 4th and inches and come up short on the sneak.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Love it or leave it, RJBO.

BTW, are you going to be around tonight for the big game?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Since I'm cheering for Michigan, I must hate America.

    I'll definitely be around, Keith.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Oh come on RJBO. Iowa ain't that bad. ALL. THAT. CORN.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Haha. I was just talking about the Iowa helmets: http://yfrog.com/ntmqblpdj

I have no qualms against corn.

Early scoring or not, I'm not even gonna bother going to the BTN overflow channel for Indiana-AnOSU.

  13. Touchdown Michigan! A pass that wasn't a force-job from Denard.....but the PAT is blown.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Soldier Field is impressed with the grass at the Florida-Vandy game.

    ReplyDelete
  15. What a catch by McKnight! Touchdown Gophers!

    ReplyDelete
  16. 14-7 Minnehaha. Props to Sparty for enacting the Wolverines "Must Comically Fade in November" strategy.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Sparty is just following big brother's footsteps.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Sparty is stopped by the Gophers on 4th and 9. Should've just tried to pin Minnesota deep.

    ReplyDelete
  19. If anyone is up for a good laugh at Penn State today, check this out.

I am thoroughly saddened and disgusted.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Glen Mason sounds like a louder, worse version of Bob Griese in his later years. #NotGood

    ReplyDelete
  21. I saw that story break late last night. Even the AD knew. I would say JoePa knew, but I don't think he knows what he had for breakfast yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ohio State and Indiana tied at 10. That may be my only saving grace right now. #GoIndiana

    ReplyDelete
  23. That is sickening what happened in State College.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Do the Hawkeyes have to have a hyphenated wide receiver every year? #Martin-Manley

    ReplyDelete
  25. Initial reports seem to clear JoePa of any wrong-doing, but still, not good for him, his reputation, or possibly his future with the program.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Easy touchdown pass for Iowa to the fullback. So much for the highly rated Wolverines Red Zone D. #MisleadingStats

    ReplyDelete
  27. Let's not talk about that Penn State story again today. I actually want to enjoy this day.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Agreed, Keith. I just wanted to acknowledge seeing the story.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sigh. Denard should've just taken the sack; instead he leaves the ball on the ground. Iowa ball.

    ReplyDelete
  30. DIE IN A FIRE DR. PEPPER COMMERCIAL!

    ReplyDelete
  31. At least the Wolverines held the Hawkeyes to a FG. 17-6 Iowa.

    ReplyDelete
  32. What a catch by Hemingway! #DenardHighThrow

    ReplyDelete
  33. Enough of Devin Gardner's cameo appearances. Michigan lucky to recover that fumble. Give it to Denard, like on that 20 yard run.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Gardner should never see the field again.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hard to believe. But Denard has actually regressed without Rich Rod.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I know the staff is trying to shoehorn Shoelace into a pro-style offense, and I'm guessing the coaches fear Gardner would transfer, but this is ridiculous. Denard is no longer running effectively and tentative throwing (when he was a shaky passer at best) and Gardner is out of sorts when he does come in for his play or two.

    17-6 Iowa at the half.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I think Minnesota is going to be just fine with Jerry Kill.

    ReplyDelete
  38. On the lighter side of things, Ohio State and Indiana are tied at 13 at halftime.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Minnesota's kicking themselves for firing Glen Mason and hiring Tim Brewster. Mason had the Gophers at a 8-9 win plateau every year with some NFL talent. I think that's the best they could ever be, improvements to facilities or not.

    Touchdown M-S-U

    ReplyDelete
  40. Braxton Miller is playing LIKE A BAUS! #EDSBSMeme

    ReplyDelete
  41. Mike Hall on the BTN: "Today, we spotlight MSU's Zeke the Wonder Dog." Sorry, that's a worse halftime show than the Bucket Boys.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Shoelace almost thew another INT there.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Denard is lucky, lucky, lucky on that 3rd and 9 blitz. Fluttered into Vinson Smith's hands.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The Sooners loss to Texas Tech looks worse and worse and worse. 31-6 Longhorns at the half? Early this season, it would've taken Texas 3 games to get 31 points.

    ReplyDelete
  45. "Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium," Ohio State? Bleh.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I wonder when that other college in Columbus will name their field after Jonathon Sanchez?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Still better than Mark Light Field at Alex Rodriguez Park, Justin. #HurricanesBaseball

    ReplyDelete
  48. TOUCHDOWN INDIANA! Oh it's an exciting one on the B1G Network!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Denard Robinson is more brittle than Tate Forcier. #Science

    ReplyDelete
  50. Robinson is more brittle than that one white running back. #IStillCan'tRememberHisName

    ReplyDelete
  51. Orioles to hire Dan Duquette as GM, per Tim Kurkjian. Did Kevin Malone say no? #"NewSheriffInTown"

    ReplyDelete
  52. Orioles to hire Dan Duquette as GM

Have we checked on Kris yet? This can't be good for his health.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Too bad Michigan doesn't have two Blake Countess-caliber corners out there, true freshman or not.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I'm going to get something to eat. I'll be back for the 12:30 games.

    ReplyDelete
  55. You won't miss anything. Iowa is suffocating Michigan with this long drive; Minnesota should fold late; the other games on are less watchable than these two.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Decent TD drive for the Wolverines (Denard to Koger). Might be too little, too late. 24-16 Hawkeyes.

    ReplyDelete
  57. You might want to either cover McNutt or bench JT Floyd, Michigan....

    ReplyDelete
  58. Coker is stuffed! 4th & 1 upcoming! Wolverines need this stop.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Michigan just #JuquaParker'd on 4th down. Sigh.

AND THEY CALLED A FALSE START! HAHA!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Good 20 yard completion to Hemingway to get out of their end zone.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Michigan has to punt. 4th and 8. Your own end. Only 2 timeouts. Punt and hope.....

    ReplyDelete
  62. I can't watch anymore of this. I'm watching Minny-Sparty and chalking up the Michigan game as a loss.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Touchdown M-S-U. Le'Veon Bell

Matt Devlin: "All he needed was a couple of inches." #Favre'd

    ReplyDelete
  64. Caught! 1st down Roberson to Hughes! #BTNOverflowChannel

    ReplyDelete
  65. There's now way Indiana can actually win this game....right? #GoHoosiers

    ReplyDelete
  66. Travis Howard with the interception with 4:07 left. Indiana in trouble now.

    ReplyDelete
  67. SMITH?!?!?!? TOUCHDOWN MICHIGAN!!!!! WHAT HAPPENED?!?

    ReplyDelete
  68. WHAT WHAT WHAT? MICHIGAN TOUCHDOWN? HOW?

    Here comes a review

    ReplyDelete
  69. Smith was down. this should get overturned.

    ReplyDelete
  70. DENARD OVERTHREW ROUNDTREE! GEEZ! THAT WAS A TD!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Denard to Odoms to the Michigan 41. Out of bounds.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Denard to Rountree to the Iowa 45. Clock running.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Denard to Gallon to the Iowa 32. Out of bounds.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Timeout Iowa with :38 left so Micah Hyde can possibly come back into the game after being shaken up.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Michigan uses their last timeout with :16 left.

    ReplyDelete
  76. And my school is losing 31-7 to Kutztown heading into the 4th quarter. This could spell the end of our playoff hopes. Fuck.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Robinson the overthrow. 2nd and goal. 12 seconds left.

    ReplyDelete
  78. THEY SAY INCOMPLETE! OUT OF BOUNDS! 7 SECONDS LEFT!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Knee was down, but the ball wasn't completely secured by Hemingway.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I don't think that's a touchdown. Ball looks like it is moving.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Denard scrambles, has a man, INCOMPLETE! TWO SECONDS LEFT! 4TH AND GOAL!

B1G football. It does not get any better than this, folks.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I thought Denard was a dead duck in the backfield.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Meanwhile, Minnesota has 2:22 and 90 yards to a tying TD in East Lansing. #NoShot

    ReplyDelete
  84. I've seen pass interference called on lesser infractions.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I'm not gonna crow about the call.

Channel 7 here has a barnburner between Ball State-EMU (as in a barn burning would be better viewing).

    Ball State's QB's name is "Wenning?" #InsertCharlieSheenJoke

    ReplyDelete
  87. Sweet, I've got Minnesota-Sparty bonus coverage on the B1G Network.

    ReplyDelete
  88. The Michael Reghi Game Of the Week always is within 3 points with the last drive deciding it.

1st down Ball State! 13 seconds left to the EMU 27 after the spike.

    ReplyDelete
  89. 1ST DOWN MINNESOTA ON THIRD AND A MILE! SPIKED AT THE 45 WITH 21 SECONDS LEFT! 55 YARDS TO GLORY!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Calling back-to-back timeouts to ice the kicker in college should be a penalty like in the NFL. #BallState-EMU

    ReplyDelete
  91. Schott hits the 44 yard FG! Ball State leads 33-31 in Ypsilanti. #Click

    ReplyDelete
  92. Looking at the 3:30 games (aside from aTm-Sooners)....I need to buy some groceries. #BackAt5

    ReplyDelete
  93. I will be right pick. I have to run a few errands. My school is losing 45-14 in the 4th quarter, likely out of the playoffs now. I feel safe leaving.

    ReplyDelete
  94. 14-3 Northwestern leads Nebraska in more Legends Division action on the B1G Network.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Wow, Nebraska. Way to completely not tackle the quarterback.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Northwestern still lead by 4 heading into the 4th quarter on the B1G Network. Northwestern attempting a field goal, and it's no good!

    ReplyDelete
  97. TOUCHDOWN!!!! NORTHWESTERN! 12:16 LEFT IN THE GAME!!! AN UPSET IS BREWING ON THE B1G NETWORK!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Nebraska is driving now, at the Northwestern 16.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Cotton with the catch at the two, reaches for the goal line as he is brought down, HE GOT IT! TOUCHDOWN NEBRASKA!

But on replay the knee is down before the ball crosses the goal line. This is being reviewed and it should be overturned.

    Hopefully RJBO is watching this....

    /thriller on B1G Network with Eric Collins'd

    ReplyDelete
  100. Up the middle TOUCHDOWN NEBRASKA!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Nebraska going for 2, Martinez on the option, dives for the endzone, HE GOT IT!

    ReplyDelete
  102. 2nd and goal Northwestern at the 1. 2:35 to go. Nebraska does have 3 timeouts.

    ReplyDelete
  103. There is no one at the Cal game. This entire year has been a disaster for Cal. The AT&T Park idea was a disaster from the start.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Colter on the keeper, no signal yet, it looks like he is in, TOUCHDOWN NORTHWESTERN! 1:34 AWAY FROM THE UPSET! THEY ARE UP TWO SCORES!

    ReplyDelete
  105. TOUCHDOWN NEBRASKA WITH 18 SECONDS LEFT!

Now they need the onside kick. Anything can happen on the B1G Network.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Nebraska has to burn a timeout before the onside kick??? HAHAHAHAHAHA!

    ReplyDelete
  107. Northwestern recovers the onside kick! They will upset the Cornhuskers!

    Welcome to the B1G, Nebraska.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Flyers game starting now with the Game Of The Century starting in an hour.

    ReplyDelete
  109. "I always liked that name." - Steve Coates

    Thanks for that, Coatesy.

    ReplyDelete
  110. When I said "Back at 5," I didn't think I meant 5 PDT.

Long story short, one of my nephews snookered me into dropping him off at the maaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllll (#KanyeWest'd) by saying 'he was stranded.' #I'mAGullibleFoolOfAnUncle

    ReplyDelete
  111. No more B1G football today. Do you know how depressing this is for myself and RJBO?

    ReplyDelete
  112. Is this the spot for LSU-Bama? I thought there might've been a CiL for it, or is that only reserved for a "Celebrity Fight Night" Live-Blog?

@Justin: I heard a good chunk of the N'Western game in the car. #WGN'sSignalIsStrongAtNight

    ReplyDelete
  113. @ RJBO: All you missed was Nebraska run into the juggernaut that is Northwestern without Dan Persa and Wisconsin doing unspeakable things to Purdue.

    ReplyDelete
  114. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Arkansas lead South Carolina 3-0 already.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Wait. "Celebrity Fight Night" is $30 in HD? I wouldn't pay $10 to watch Octomom-Amy Fisher nor Jose Canseco-Lenny Dykstra....

    ReplyDelete
  117. #13 Houston & UAB tied at 7 after 1 Quarter.

    ReplyDelete
  118. A quick aside: If LSU-Bama is close, I better not hear the narrative become "They should meet in the MNC game," especially if Gary Danielson decides to spew this in the afterglow. That blowhard was the loudest mouthpiece against a Michigan-AnO$U rematch in 2006....although he was right.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Virginia 31, Maryland 13.

    Poor poor Kris.

    ReplyDelete
  120. At least the O's will hire "integral piece of forming the 2004 World Series team" GM Dan Duquette.... #ForgotWhichBoobSaidThat #NoRelief

    ReplyDelete
  121. Flyers lead 5-0. With less than 1 minute to play in the first period.

    /at least anOSU won

    ReplyDelete
  122. Ryan Broyles out for the season (Torn ACL), per ESPN's BottomLine. Ouch.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Okay. I'm fed and going to hunker down for the night.

    ReplyDelete
  124. DENNIS JOHNSON ON THE KICK RETURN! TOUCHDOWN ARKANSAS!

    ReplyDelete
  125. KICKOFF RETURN BY DENNIS JOHNSON! TOUCHDOWN HOGS! #LSU-BamaAboutToKick #Click

    ReplyDelete
  126. Kevin Frazier: "Shock therapy induces seizures (to combat depression). If I get that depressed, slap me."

Good job, WWJ-TV. I want those 10 seconds back for even seeing that much of "The Insider Weekend." #DumberForIt

    ReplyDelete
  127. Oh goody. Todd Blackledge stuffing himself again.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I've always liked the Blackledge food segment. #I'mLame

    ReplyDelete
  129. I heard an interview with Uncle Verne on 670 the Score yesterday. He said CBS gave up "the 1st pick of SEC games, this rematch in Baton Rouge being at night on ESPN and CBS can't show Michigan-Alabama next year" to get LSU-Bama this year. Hope it's worth it. Of course, had they not chose 'Bama-Florida in prime time.....

    ReplyDelete
  130. You should seriously watch his radio show on CBS College Sports, Justin.

    ReplyDelete
  131. "Barkevious Mingo?" WTF kind of name is that?

    ReplyDelete
  132. For what CBS gave up for this game, I hope it's worth it for them.

    ReplyDelete
  133. When Le-sh is shouting, he doesn't -sh a-sh mu-sch.

    ReplyDelete
  134. YahooForde Pat Forde
Damn, The Hat bit it running on field. Not sure what happened, but looked over and saw him -- Hatless -- getting up off turf.

    LULZ

    ReplyDelete
  135. Ugh. I can't believe I'm rooting for Saban. Not so much rooting, but that's who I think will win, with Trent Richardson being the difference.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Tyler Wilson got Pick-6'd by the Cocks. 14-10 South Carolina.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Wolfson: "You've always shown some trickery. Do you have something under that hat tonight?"

    ReplyDelete
  138. Good run by Trent Richardson to open the proceedings.

    ReplyDelete
  139. You might want to cover Richardson...fumble or not.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Trent Richardson! Gary Danielson is going to have a bout with priapism by the end of this one.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Nice stop by LSU to hold Bama to a FG try.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Good blocking. Better coverage.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Wow, this really better be worth it for them.

    ReplyDelete
  144. I like Oklahoma State, but what on earth are they wearing tonight?

    ReplyDelete
  145. LSU is actually moving the ball on this defense.

    ReplyDelete
  146. South Carolina-Arkansas is a real barnburner. #Should'veBeenOn3:30OnCBS

    ReplyDelete
  147. Jordan Jefferson punches that across the line to gain for the 1st. #HadTo

    ReplyDelete
  148. Bob Kraft has to be at every sporting event CBS has, right?

    ReplyDelete
  149. Even if the Pats aren't playing on CBS this week.

    ReplyDelete
  150. SEC Football: perfect time for girl-on-girl action.

    ReplyDelete
  151. "I call them dirty runs."-Danielson.

Might want to change your pants then.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Maaaaaaybe you went to the well two too many times running Lacy.

    ReplyDelete
  153. 1st INT in Jarrett Lee's last 150 passes.

    Nice catch by Hanks!

    ReplyDelete
  154. Knocked away by Morris Claiborne in the end zone to end the 1st Quarter!

    ReplyDelete
  155. Danielson: "There are 10 DBs in this game that will play in the NFL." Ah geez....

    ReplyDelete
  156. Holy crap, Hocker. That was an atrocious FG attempt from 29 yards. 24-14 Hogs nearing halftime.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Okie State leads K-State 14-10 still in the 1st.

/important games no one cares about

    ReplyDelete
