Baseball Update: Good Timing Nationals

The Baseball Update takes a look at the stories and happenings in baseball.

Great Timing Nationals: The Washington Nationals, the team of many screw-ups, actually perfectly timed something. Tonight the Washington Nationals will host Military Appreciation Night tonight against the San Francisco Giants. Any military personnel with valid ID will be allowed to watch tonight's game for free.
To celebrate Military Appreciation Night, thousands of complimentary tickets will be donated to military personnel and their families to see the Nationals face the defending World Series Champion San Francisco Giants on Monday, May 2 at 7:05 p.m.

Military personnel can receive four complimentary tickets with a valid ID, available for pick up at the Grand Staircase Box Office beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Tickets may also be picked up prior to the game at the Main Box Office during non-game hours.
Perfectly timed Nats.

Breaking News: Miguel Tejada Is Washed Up: One of the many unfortunate consequences of the Pablo Sandoval injury is the fact Miguel Tejada will receive more playing time, specifically at third base. Tejada at this point in his career is three shades beyond washed up. Just look at his stats for this season. His OBP is a awful .253, his slugging percentage is at .304, he's only hit one home run and drove in nine runs. Did I mention he'll be playing at a power position? And unless the Giants pitching staff stops walking batters at a high rate, this is going to be a long year in San Francisco. Thank God the Giants won the World Series last season.

Twins Blunders: The Minnesota Twins at the moment are dreadful. The pitching staff has imploded and the offense forgot how to hit. Injuries has been a major concern for the Twins as several of their players have gone on the disabled list. The players called up to replace the injured Twins players simply have not been producing. Specifically the platoon of Drew Butera and Steve Holm at catcher. Steve Holm used to play for the Giants, I know how awful he is. The Twins are in a awfully lot of trouble if they have to trot out Holm every other day to play at catcher along with Butera.

Josh Johnson Is Kind Of Good: Roy Halladay, Tim Lincecum, Cliff Lee, and Felix Hernandez have earned much praise over the years. And deservedly so. A pitcher though he doesn't nearly receive the credit he deserves is Josh Johnson. Johnson's numbers this year so far, 3 wins, 0.88 ERA, 0.71 WHIP. Yeah, he's kind of a good pitcher.

Maybe Jose Bautista Isn't a Fluke: Maybe Jose Bautista's season last year wasn't a fluke.

Speaking of the Marlins: I think this song is appropriate at the moment.
