Foul Ball: Seagull's on the Field!

Foul Ball is your daily baseball recap

4 A's 3 Twins: The A's scored four runs in the last two innings to shock the Twins. Orlando Cabrera singled in a run and Adam Kennedy hit a two-run home run in the eighth to tie the game. Then Raji Davis singled in the ninth inning to give the A's the win. Brad Zeigler pitched two crucial innings for the A's to pick up the win. Orlando Cabrera will be added to the long list of Emilio's by committing his ninth error of the season.

2 Astros 1 Cubs in 13: Geoff Blum has beat the Cubs on back-to-back night's. This time in the 13th inning, Blum singled in the winning run. Derek Lee tied the game in the ninth ining for the Cubs with a home run. The Cubs left a total of 8 men on base in the game. Not to be outdone, the Astros left 11 men on base. Not a great game to watch for offense.

6 Cardinals 5 Marlins: Cody Ross committed a costly error in the eighth inning to give the Cardinals the win. A ball was hit to center field and the ball rolled right under Ross' glove. Two runners scored on the play giving the Cardinals the win.

Cody Ross Quote: From the AP, “I missed it, flat out,” Ross said. “Trying to block it and it just went right through my legs. The game is on the line right there and I got to come up with that play. There’s no excuse.” I think I might have a new Word of the Day because of this little error.

5 Rockies 4 Brewers: Colorado has won eight straight games, and all of them on the road. First they swept the Cardinals and then they go to Milwaukee and sweep the Brewers. Milwaukee didn't help themselves in the game by hitting into three double plays and committing two errors in the game. Houston Street picked up the save despite giving up a ninth inning home run to Ryan Bruan.

2 Diamondbacks 1 Giants: Max Scherzer went 7 2/3 innings giving up 3 hits and no runs for Arizona. Justin Upton drove in both runs for Arizona with a home run and a single. I guess the Giants weren't going to score more than three runs every game.

4 Indians 3 Royals in 10: Best part of this game came at the end. With runners on in the tenth inning, Shin-Soo Choo hit a liner that hit a low-flying seagull. The ball bounced off the bird and rolled to the wall, allowing a Cleveland runner to score and win the game.

6 Phillies 3 Mets in 10: The Phillies rallied from a 3-1 deficit to tie the game. Then steroid user, err, Raul Ibanez hit a three-run home run in the tenth inning to give the Phillies the win. Philadelphia has the best road record in the majors with a 23-9 record. More injury news for the Mets, as they placed John Maine on the 15-day DL.

Here's the seagull being hit by the bird.
