The Rundown: 9-1-2010

(The Roundup is a collection of college football news along with my smartass comments.)

Iowa Player Hit While Driving a Motorcycle: This video is incredibly scary. Iowa offensive lineman Josh Koeppel was hit by a pick up driving in the intersection while driving a motorcycle.

This video was believed to been have shot by a dash-board camera in a police car, but there is no authenticity. Koeppel amazingly walked away from this wreck with only cuts and bruises. He'll not play in Saturday's game against Eastern Illinois.

Prepare Your Eyes for Bleeding: Nike is coming out with a line of jersey's for college teams to wear at different times this season called "Pro Combat Uniforms." Florida will wear the "pro combat uniform" in their annual game against Georgia. Virginia Tech will wear the special uniforms on Monday against Boise State. All of these jersey's are truly awful, but Boise State's pro combat uniforms will make your eyes bleed.

Those pants! Those jersey's! That helmet! They're all truly terrible. And when did Boise State have gray in their uniform scheme? And what about the orange and blue sleeves? And what is up with that interpretation of a Bronco? And what about that placement of the Bronco on the pants? I've always enjoyed Boise State's uniforms, but these are truly awful. You've already ruined Oregon, Nike, do you have to ruin 10 other schools as well?

The Howard Schnellenberger Award!: That's right the man who wares fancy suits, smoked a pipe, and started the Miami dynasty in the early 1980's will have a trophy named after him. After every Louisville-Kentucky football game the Howard Schnellenberger Award will be given to the MVP of the game. And it's about damn time. Anyone who smokes tobacco from a pipe is a hero of mine.

Journalistic Integrity!: Former Florida International University Miami Herald beat writer Pete Pelegrin, who blasted the Herald for it's lack of coverage of FIU, will now write for, you guess it FIU. If you're going to be a homer, might as well write for your favorite team.

Tradition!: Phillip Fulmer as the Fiddler on the Roof. Just watch.

Quick Hits: If you're not following Kentrell Lockett on Twitter, you're missing something..... Longtime Oklahoma announcer Bob Barry Sr. will step down after the season...... Both TCU and Oregon State looking for redemption when they play each other on Saturday..... Michigan State quarterback Kirk Cousins is ready to lead.... The NCAA was wrong on the Masoli ruling.

  1. Oof. I don't mind the logo, but not placed right there on the pants.
