Where will Prince Fielder Go?: Prince Fielder won't become a free agent until after next season, but there are already talks of the Brewers moving Fielder. Yahoo's Jeff Passan notes that Fielder's agent Scott Boras is asking for a contract for Fielder that settles between $125 million and $180 million. The Brewers will not be paying that much for Fielder.
Two teams that could trade for Fielder are the Chicago White Sox and the San Francisco Giants. The White Sox may not have enough to trade for Fielder at the moment. Fielder to the Giants has been a rumor now for two years and it has become a popular meme at McCovey Chronicles. If the Giants traded for Fielder, they would have to send either Matt Cain, Jonathon Sanchez, and Madison Bumgarner. That may be too steep of a price for the Giants to pay. Also since Sanchez is very inconsistent, the Brewers may ask for more than just Sanchez. By the trade deadline though, I see Fielder in a Brewers uniform. They'll probably try and trade him during the off-season when more teams have the cash to trade for Fielder
Money Problems Could Curtail the Type of Players Traded: One of the major themes coming from this year's trade deadline is money problems. Passan reports that teams will be willing to trade a higher rated prospect for a pitcher like Ted Lilly and Brett Myers than for a pitcher like Roy Oswalt. That's sad when you think of it. A team would rather trade a higher rated prospect for Lilly and Myers than for Oswalt.
Leo Nunez and Cody Ross Hot Commodity's?: It's that time of the year again for the annual Marlins garage sale. The Red Sox have already made contract with the Marlins about Leo Nunez and Cody Ross. It's unknown who the Yankees are interested in, but Fox Sports Ken Rosenthal speculated that Nunez and Ross are on the Yankees radar.
Quick Hits:
- MLB Trade Rumors report the Rockies are looking to upgrade their bullpen, starting pitching, and corner infield situations.
- Phil Rogers of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Washington Nationals might trade Adam Dunn. This is a contradiction to what was said last week and that was the Nationals weren't looking to trade Dunn and instead sign him to a new contract after the season. Dunn wants a four-year contract of $60 million. That may be too steep of a price for the Nationals to pay.
- Bod Brookover of the Philly Inquirer reports the Phillies are looking to add a pitcher to their rotation. Roy Oswalt, Dan Haren, Cliff Lee (Just kidding. Wanted to make sure you're still paying attention.) Ted Lilly, and Brett Myers are all players the Phillies might look at to add rotation depth.
- Is it deja vu all over again for the Orioles front office at the trading deadline?
- Will the Tigers trade Jeremy Bonderman who is a free agent after the season?
Thanks for posting the typical Peter Schmuck nonsense.
