Los Angeles 2 San Francisco 5: Thankfully for the Giants, their pitching was on top of their game last night. Or at least wasn't giving up runs, because the pitching staff in total gave up 10 hits and five walks to the Dodgers. The Giants pitching staff wanted to give this game away, including Brian Wilson who loaded the bases before finally closing the game, but at the end they couldn't. The Dodgers left 11 men on base.
Detroit 6 Texas 8 in 14 Innings: Nelson Cruz won the game twice for the Rangers. Cruz won the game in the 11th inning when he deked Detroit's Johnny Damon preventing him from scoring. Then in the 14th inning, Cruz hit a game-winning two-run home run. Two scary moments in the game. Brandon Inge was drilled by a pitch breaking his wrist and Rangers pitcher Dustin Nippert was hit in the head by a line drive. Nippert thankfully will be fine.
St. Louis 8 Philadelphia 4: Albert Pujols, Allen Craig, Skip Schumaker, and Randy Winn all homered in a six at-bat span against Phillies pitcher Kyle Kendrick. The Phillies might as well send Kyle Kendrick to Japan now that he gave up a home run to Randy Winn. The Phillies offense imploded last night. The Phillies left nine men on base and hit into three double plays including two by $125 million dollar man Ryan Howard.
Minnesota 4 Cleveland 10: What the hell are the Indians doing? When they're suppose to be rolling over and letting the good teams beat them, they're actually trying and winning. After sweeping the Tigers in a four-game series over the weekend, the Indians went to Minnesota and beat the Twins. So much for an easy victory.
Oakland 1 Boston 2: Dice-K was dealing last night. Dice-K went 6 2/3 innings giving up two hits, one run, two walks, and striking out six. A's pitcher Ben Sheets wasn't too bad himself pitching 6 2/3 innings giving up seven hits, two runs, and striking out two. There were scouts in Oakland last night evaluating Sheets for a possible trade.
The Phillies might as well send Kyle Kendrick to Japan now that he gave up a home run to Randy Winn.
ReplyDeleteIf only that trade for Kobayashi was real....the Phillies would have gotten a pretty good deal as it turned out.
MLB might discipline Phil Cuzzi for his call/conduct in and after that Mets-Giants game. Heh. At least Jim Joyce was apologetic.....
I doubt MLB will do anything to Cuzzi. They didn't do anything to Joe West and his transactions were a lot worse.
