Foul Ball: Old Guys Rule

Philadelphia 13, Atlanta 15, 11 Innings: There was so much going on in this game I don't know if my little recap can really do it justice. I'll start off though saying there was a combined 28 runs scored, 36 hits, 3 double plays, 8 walks, 18 strikeouts, and 15 men left on base. Roy Halladay started the game and gave up 12 hits and 8 runs in 5 1/3 innings of work. The Braves blew two leads and Philadelphia blew one lead. And then old man Chipper Jones ended the game in the 11th inning with a home run. (Video above is via Big League Stew)

Los Angeles 5, Colorado 8: This was another crazy game. You that hilarious blown call (picture below) and the Rockies blowing the save in the ninth inning only to see their own old man (Jason Giambi) hit a walk-off in the bottom of the ninth.

Minnesota 0, Los Angeles 9: Jared Weaver no-hit the Twins last night, striking out 9 batters. I would be more impressed, but this was against the Twins. That's like throwing a no-hitter against a little league team. Totally unfair advantage.

Kansas City 3, Detroit 2: This was a typical Jonathon Sanchez roller coaster ride of a game. Took a no-hitter into the 5th inning. Gave up a double with two outs and then walked the next two batters to load the bases. Someone gets out of that inning without giving up a run, leaves the game, teams blows the lead, Sanchez is left with a no-decision and 7 strikeouts. Never change Sanchez. Oh yeah Chris Getz knocked in the game-winning run in the ninth inning.

Texas 5, Toronto 11: After winning every series they were involved in to start the year, the Rangers have now lost two series in row and both series' were against AL East teams. The Blue Jays only scored in three innings during this game, but each of those innings the Blue Jays scored 2 or more runs including 6 runs in the 4th inning.

Baltimore 5, New York 0: The Orioles walked into Yankee Stadium like bosses and took 2 out of 3 from New York and gave Ivan Nova his first loss of the year. Matt Wieters homered and drove in two runs. Jake Arrieta shut down the Yankees in 8 innings giving up only 5 hits and striking out nine. I'm a believer in the Orioles but kt1000 isn't..............

New York 1, Houston 8: Piece of advice to the Mets. If you want to compete in the NL East, don't get swept by a mediocre Astros team. Chris Johnson had a huge day for the Astros hitting two home runs and driving in 6 runs. And of course since it was the Mets, both of those home runs were Johnson's first home runs of the year. LOL METS

  1. Giants are back in "Swing at Everything" mode and are not surprisingly losing.

  2. It's a nice start Keith, but I'm not buying any rotation that includes Jason Hammel & Tommy Hunter in the AL East.
