Must List: Week 11

Well there are no "Games of the Century" this week, but we do have a great slate of games this week to keep us entertained. After what felt like a mediocre slate of games throughout October, we're finally near the end of the season and at the point of the schedule were one loss could knock a team right out of the national championship picture or place them in the top 5. Case in point this week's Stanford-Oregon game. That's just one game, here are the other games in this week's must list.

Thursday, November 10
Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech, 8:00 (ESPN: Rece Davis, Jesse Palmer, Craig James, Jenn Brown): I hate how the ACC has their teams in these goofy divisions. I had to look up the standings to see that Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech play in the same division. I also see that Georgia Tech has to beat Virgina Tech to win the Atlantic Coastal Gulf Stream division. This is the type of information that everyone needs!

Saturday, November 12
Florida at South Carolina, Noon (CBS: Tim Brando, Spencer Tillman, Lewis Johnson): I'm watching this game for one reason only, Brando is calling it. I can already hear the awful puns spewing out of Brando's pie hole. Here are the rosters for both teams. Expect Brando to use some type of awful pun from these names.

Nebraska at Penn State, Noon (ESPN: Dave Pasch, Chris Spielman, Urban Meyer, Tom Rinaldi): If LSU vs Bama was the 'Game of the Century' is this game the 'Awkward Game of the Century' after this week's events in Happy Valley? I'm not even sure I can watch this game just for the pure awkwardness. Especially since Urban Meyer is in the booth and he's rumored to become the next Penn State coach.

Auburn at Georgia, 3:30 (CBS: Verne Lundquist, Gary Danielson, Tracy Wolfson): Georgia needs to win this game to keep their lead over South Carolina in the SEC East. Now watch Georgia go out and lose this game and South Carolina is the sacrificial lamb for LSU in the SEC Championship Game.

Miami at Florida State, 3:30 (ABC: Sean McDonough, Matt Millen, Heather Cox): While looking up the ACC standings I see that both of these teams are in opposite divisions. I love how karma corrected everything in the universe because obviously neither of these teams have played in the ACC Championship. Which means you should never put geographic rivals in opposite divisions. If only the Big Ten didn't make this mistake with Ohio State and Michigan................

TCU at Boise State, 3:30 (VS: Paul Burmeister, Shaun King, Anthony Herron): TCU wants to avenge their 09 Fiesta Bowl loss by ruining Boise State's quest for a perfect season. I would almost choose TCU in this game, but they'll be playing on the blue turf so I have to go with the Broncos here. Should be a fun, high scoring game.

Maryland vs Notre Dame, 7:30 (NBC: Tom Hammond, Mike Mayock, Alex Flanagan): My friend Kris Thompson would like to share his thoughts on this game which happens to be Notre Dame's annual "hey let's play in a neutral stadium for recruiting purposes" game: A matchup of two teams wearing ugly uniforms and coaches with a bad grasp of reality at the worst stadium on the East Coast. Turn it on and be thankful you aren't giving $150 to Notre Dame & Daniel M. Snyder for the privilege of being there (unlike some of us). I'm sure NBC wishes they could air a "Whitney" marathon instead of this garbage.

Oregon at Stanford, 8:00 (ABC: Brent Musburger, Kirk Herbstreit, Erin Andrews): Don't tell SEC fans, but this game will be ten times more exciting than last week's LSU-Alabama. Stanford is a very physical team that can beat up Oregon, the question will be if they can keep up with Oregon's speed and can they keep up with Oregon's pace in the second half. The other question will be is will Stanford fake injuries during the game like last year?

Recipe of the Week, Mashed-Potato Spring Rolls: This recipe comes from my friend James Craven. This is another recipe to use with your leftover Thanksgiving food. You use the leftover mashed potatoes to basically make egg rolls which sounds really delicious right now. Hold on for a second, I need to go to Panda Express............

Alcoholic Beverage of the Week, Snow Day: Now I was never a big fan of New Belgium's seasonal brews. Snow Day though is the exception to that rule. Snow Day has a creamy roasted nuts taste that is breathtaking. It also has a malt beverage taste that is also great. This has quickly become one of my favorite seasonal beers.

  1. That rumor about Urban Meyer purchasing real estate in the State College area has been proven false. While certainly a candidate for the job, I would say Meyer is far from a certain thing.
