The Must List: Week 4

We're finally reaching the point of the year when conference match ups are the norm. There are several conference games that are worth watching this week. Also the 3:30/12:30 time slot this Saturday is absolutely loaded with games. You're definitely going to have to fire up espn3 just to keep up with all the games that will be in play. Here's the must list for this upcoming week of college football.

Announcing Schedule

Sept. 22
NC State at Cincinnati, 8 (ESPN: Rece Davis, Jesse Palmer, Craig James, Jenn Brown): I complained a lot about the uninteresting Thursday night ESPN games last year. So far this year the games haven't been that much better. Well looking at this NC State-Cincinnati game we're right back to the crap Thursday games. I have about as much interest watching this game as I do having my colon examined.

Sept. 24
Notre Dame at Pittsburgh, Noon (ABC: Dave Pasch, Chris Spielman, Urban Meyer, Quint Kessenich): Pittsburgh suffered an epic collapse last week against Iowa. I want to see them play against Notre Dame who actually had a competent offense. I can't imagine this game ending well for the Panthers. Then again I wouldn't be surprised if Pitt won this game.

North Carolina at Georgia Tech, Noon (ESPN: Bob Wischusen, Bob Davie): Both of these teams are undefeated and are ranked in the lower half of the polls. Both of these teams have also played a creampuff schedule so far. UNC's schedule has been a little bit tougher up to this point but not by much. We'll see this week if Georgia Tech is really as good as their stats so far say.

Georgia at Mississippi, Noon (SEC Network: Dave Neal, Andre Ware, Cara Capuano): I'm interested in this game for one reason, I love watching trainwrecks. Both of these teams are awful. Both of these teams have coaches who will probably be fired after the season. You can make bets on this game like how many INTs will be thrown and how many fumbles won't be recovered. Fun for the entire family!

Arkansas at Alabama, 3:30 (CBS: Verne Lundquist, Gary Danielson, Tracy Wolfson): Arkansas struggled to put away Troy last week. What is going to happen to them against Alabama? How many rushing yards is Trent Richardson going to rack up against the Razorbacks? Also will the Razorbacks offensive line give QB Tyler Wilson enough time to throw? I have a feeling this game might be a blowout by halftime.

Oklahoma State at Texas A&M, 3:30 (ABC: Sean McDonough, Matt Millen, Jeannine Edwards): This is probably the game of the week. Both teams have explosive offenses that are very fun to watch. Can either team stop an opposing offense? Texas A&M has held teams to 10 points a game so far while Oklahoma State has given up 27 points a game but against tougher competition. This will certainly be an interesting game to watch to see what each offense will look like against better competition.

Florida State at Clemson, 3:30 (ESPN: Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge, Holly Rowe): Both of these teams played great games last week. Clemson won while Florida State lost. Knowing Clemson, they'll probably lose this game on a field goal in the last seconds because well they're Clemson and Clemson loses games like this.

Vanderbilt at South Carolina, 7:00 (ESPN2: Mark Neely, Ray Bentley):Both teams are heading into this game with undefeated records. Yes even Vandy has an undefeated record. If this game was in Nashville, I would give Vandy more of a shot. I just can't pick against USCe at home with Marcus Lattimore taking handoffs. Even if Stephen Garcia is still the USCe quarterback.

LSU at West Virginia, 8:00 (ABC: Brent Musburger, Kirk Herbstreit, Erin Andrews): West Virginia offense vs the LSU defense. This should be really good. What's going to interest me is if LSU QB Jarrett Lee makes a mistake that all LSU fans know he's capable of making during this game and if the WVU offense can must any offense at all against the LSU defense. Also hopefully Musburger doesn't call WVU QB Geno Smith "Genocide" Smith like some of his colleagues did on Twitter last week.

USC at Arizona State, 10:15 (ESPN: Joe Tessitore, Rod Gilmore, Shelley Smith): This should be a good nightcap for Saturday. A tough Arizona State team at home against USC. And with Tessitore on the call you know something weird is gonna happen.

Recipe of the Week, Grilled Bacon Jalapeno Wraps: This recipe reminds me of my cousin who now lives in Indiana because he would cook Grilled Bacon Jalapeno Wraps during the holidays and they were delicious. I just hope when I cooked the Jalapeno Wraps this weekend, they're just as good.

Alcoholic Beverage of the Week, Sea Dog Pale Ale: What I love about the Sea Dog Brewery, they actually have a list of stores where you can find their beer. I wished more of these micro brews would actually list where their beer is sold.

  1. The afternoon games look great, but the rest of the games look pretty meh.
