Foul Ball: John Lannan Out Pitched Roy Oswalt?

Washington 2, Philadelphia 1: There was a pitching dual yesterday in DC and John Lannan beat Roy Oswalt. Wait, what? That's just what it says in the boxscore. In reality both pitchers only pitched five complete innings and Oswalt committed one mistake more than Lannan when he gave up a home run to Layyyyyynce Nix. Other than that, this was a bullpen game with neither team reaching base.

Tampa Bay 0, Texas 3: Both Colby Lewis and David Price pitched eight innings, Lewis made two less mistakes than Price. Lewis only gave up four hits and two walks while striking out eight and not allowing anyone to score. Price gave up five hits, but two of the hits resulted in runs for the Rangers

Chicago 1, Houston 3: Brett "Boom outta here" Myers pitched six innings giving up only three hits and one run. Amazingly the Houston bullpen didn't blow the lead and the Astros were able to walk out of Chicago with the sweep. Jason Michaels and Michael Bourn drove in the only runs for the Astros.

Boston 4, Chicago 7: Amazingly the White Sox won their ninth consecutive game at Fenway Park yesterday and swept the Red Sox. Paul Konerko gave the good guys the lead in the seventh inning with a RBI-single and then hit a home run in the ninth to close the door on the bad guys.

Oakland 2, New York 4: Talk about ownage. The Yankees swept the A's in Oakland for their tenth consecutive victory over the A's. The Yankees have also beaten the A's 23 out of 26 games. The A's can't even hold a lead against the Yankees like yesterday when they blew a one-run lead. Even worse for the A's, their own former player Nick Swisher was the one who broke their hearts.

Kansas City 2, Anaheim 0: After these two teams played home run derby in the first two games of this series, they finally decided to stop hitting. Starting pitchers Tyler Chatwood and Felipe Paulino gave up no runs. In fact, the only pitcher on the day give up any runs was Anaheim reliever Scott Downs who gave up a game-winning two-run home run to Billy Butler in the ninth inning.

Toronto 9, Cleveland 13: The Indians jumped to a 12-run lead by the third inning and then damn near allowed the Blue Jays to tie the game. Matt LaPorta hit a three-run home run for the Tribe to go along with three RBIs each from Asdrubal Cabrera and Grady Sizemore. Josh Tomlin picked up his eighth victory of the year.

Seattle 1, Baltimore 2: The Orioles avoided the sweep when former Mariners prospect Adam Jones launched a solo home run in the eighth inning to give the Birds the victory. Jim Palmer can now put back on his snug tight underwear.
