Florida 1, Arizona 5: The ankle breakers have lost nine out of their last ten games. And all of those games have been at home. Take that ankle breakers! Daniel Hudson scattered eight hits but only allowed one run in six innings of work. Stephen Drew had three hits on the game and two RBIs. The tattooed one, Ryan Roberts, also homered for the Snakes in the game.
Detroit 3, Seattle 7: When you give up two home runs in one game to Miguel Olivo, then you deserve to lose. It didn't matter in the standings though for the Tigers as the Indians also lost, so the Tigers are now tied for first place in the AL Central. Felix Hernandez walked almost as many as he struck out, which is surprising because his WHIP on the year is 1.19.
Philadelphia 4, Chicago 3: The Cubs jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first inning and then went on to get shut out the rest of the game and lost 4-3. Ryan Howard drove in three runs, including the game-winning run in the seventh inning.
Toronto 1, Boston 14: Boston has now won nine straight games, including sweeps over divisional teams New York and Toronto. The Red Sox scored 35 runs against the Blue Jays, including 30 runs alone in the past two games. Jon Lester threw a two-hitter in eight innings and Kevin Youkilis drove in four runs for the Sox.
Baltimore 6, Tampa Bay 9: The Baltimore Orioles hit three home runs in the game and still lost! Just to give this fact some context, the Giants have only hit two runs during their recent 10 game home stand. So yeah, a team really shouldn't lose a game where they hit three home runs. The Rays hit home runs themselves in this game, including an Inside-the-Park home run by Evan Longoria in the eighth inning.
Milwaukee 4, St. Louis 3: The Brewers swept the Cardinals and now lead the NL Central by a half of game over the Cardinals. Prince Fielder hit his 19th home run of the year in the game and it came in a big moment. With the Brewers down by 1, Fielder smashed a two-run home run.
Minnesota 6, Texas 1: Francisco Liriano damn near threw another perfect game in this game. Liriano took a no-hitter into the eighth inning, only to see Adrian Beltre break it up with a clean single. Still not a bad outing for Liriano as he gave up two hits, one run, struck out nine in eight innings of work. Elvis Andrus was taken out of the game by Ron Washington in the ninth inning for a lack of effort. Thankfully for Andrus, the Mavericks won the NBA championship tonight so this story will get buried.
Colorado 8, Los Angeles 10: Yep it's officially summer in Colorado. A grand total of eight home runs were hit in this game.
San Francisco 4, Cincinnati 2: The Giants didn't manage much offense during their 10-game homestand, but were able to go 6-4 with two series wins and a series split. The good news for the Giants is that Pablo Sandoval is about to come off the DL. The bad news, now Freddy Sanchez is injured. The Giants beat the Reds Sunday night by coming back from a two run deficit with Nate Schierholtz knocking in the game-winning run in the seventh inning. That was twice in this series Schierholtz won a game for the Giants.
Houston 1, Atlanta 4: The Braves have now won six straight games and need one more victory tomorrow to sweep the Astros. Tommy Hanson struck out 14 batters in seven innings of work. Brian McCann and Dan Uggla both hit two-run home runs.
