Cleveland 2, Minnesota 3, 10 Innings: The Indians magical run at the beginning of the year is starting to run out. The Indians lost again on Wednesday and have now lost four out of their last ten games and have seen their lead in the AL Central shrink to one game. The Indians lost on Wednesday because of a throwing error. Yep, the magic has ran out.
Baltimore 3, Oakland 2: The Oakland A's are a grease fire right now and it appears nothing can put them out. The A's were swept by the Orioles and now have lost nine games in a row and are dead last in the AL West. Yes, even the Mariners are better than the A's. Mark "I strike out a lot" Reynolds homered and Zach Britton struck out six batters in six innings of work.
New York 6, Boston 11: The Yankees are just getting owned by the Red Sox now. David Ortiz once again homered against the Yanks to go along with home runs from D.L. Drew and Carl Crawford. 50-year old Tim Wakefield and former Yankees reliever Alfredo Aceves combined to shut the Yankees. Read this story to understand the photo to the right.
Pittsburgh 3, Arizona 2, 12 Innings: For the first time since 2005, the Pirates are over .500 this late in the season. Kind of amazing to think about. The Pirates reached the .500 level because of an Andrew McCutchen walk-off home run in the 12th inning.
Texas 7, Detroit 3: Alexi Ogando pitched till the eighth inning and picked up his seventh victory of the year. Ogando only gave up one run and six hits to improve his record to 7-0. Adrian Beltre homered and drove in two runs for the Rangers. Josh Hamilton also drove in two runs.
Kansas City 8, Toronto 9: Four different players homered in this game and none of those players happened to be Jose Bautista. Failure! Adam Lind hit a grand slam and Jayson Nix hit a three-run home run to provide all the offense for the Blue Jays.
Houston 4, St. Louis 1: Someone named Bud Norris became the first Astro pitcher to take a no-hitter in the seventh inning since Roy Oswalt back in 2006. Norris' only blemish was a home run he gave up to Lance Berkman, that was also the only hit Norris gave up in the game. The Astros closer somehow didn't blow the save. Four different Astros drove in the runs for Houston in the game.
Cincinnati 1, Chicago 4: Ryan Dempster ended the Cubs eight-game losing streak on Wednesday. Dempster went six innings and gave up one run and three hits. Three Cubs relievers shut down the Reds after the sixth inning. Carlos Pena homered and drove in two runs for the Cubs to go along with a home run from Aramis Ramirez.
