Foul Ball: Darrell Evans is Impressed Detroit

Detroit 6, Cleveland 2: The Tigers beat the Indians two out of three games and take a one game lead over the Tribe in the AL Central. The Tigers can further their lead in the AL Central in Interleague with games against the struggling Rockies and Dodgers. Jhonny Peralta and Ryan Raburn hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning and Max Scherzer picked up the victory.

Marlboro Man Quote: From the AP: “We’ve got a little something going,” Leyland said. “But it’s such a long grind. I don’t get carried away.” Thanks for ruining the fun Grandpa.

Toronto 3, Baltimore 4: The Orioles finally won a game in Canada. For the first time since 2009, the Orioles finally beat the Blue Jays in Toronto and they had to do it in the ninth inning! Ryan Adams singled the game-winning run in the ninth inning after Derek Lee scored on a fielder's choice.

Philadelphia 3, Florida 0: Cliff Lee drove in the winning run and pitched a complete game shutout. He only struck out four and walked two, so the day was failure for Lee. THROW NO-HITTERS EVERY GAME YOU PITCH CLIFF!

Pittsburgh 5, Houston 4: The Pirates picked up their first sweep of the season, but Andrew McCutchen lost his 14-game hitting streak in one of the more bizarre ways. Let the AP recap discuss it.

"The victory came on a day when Andrew McCutchen’s career-long 14-game hitting streak ended despite his single in the sixth inning.

The Pirates learned during the game that Major League Baseball’s scoring committee had unanimously ruled that a double he was credited with on Saturday against the Mets be changed to an error by the third baseman, ending what was the longest current streak in the majors."

That sucks.

Minnesota 1, Chicago 0: Michael Cuddyer's solo home run was all the runs needed for Nick Blackburn as the Twins beat the ChiSox. Blackburn went eight innings and gave up seven hits but he got the White Sox to ground into two double plays and strand eight runners.

Washington 7, St. Louis 4, 10th Inning: Coming into Thursday's game, Kyle Lohse had only given up five home runs on the year. Lohse gave up three home runs alone on Thursday against the Nationals. Despite that, the Cardinals were able to take this game into extra innings where they would lose on a Danny Espinosa three-run home run.

  1. The AL Central is the Tigers for the taking. The Twins are surging, but I don't think they'll climb out of the cellar this year. The White Sox are too inconsistent. And the Indians are who we thought they were. This division is the Tigers.
