Foul Ball: The Pilots Live!

Seattle 2, Los Angeles Angels of Orange County 1: Both Dan Haren and the one and only Doug Fister "Foul" went eight inning giving up one run. Too bad their teams didn't reward them until the ninth inning. That's when Carlos Peguero drove in the winning run off a sacrifice fly. Both Haren and Fister, despite their brilliance, picked up the no decisions.

Toronto 3, Tampa Bay 2: Juan Rivera and JP Arencibia homered for the Blue Jays providing Ricky Romero all the run support he would need. Romero went seven inning giving up three hits, one run, while striking out six. I still wish the Blue Jays would wear these uniforms.

New York 1, Washington 0: Dillon Gee and two Mets relievers shut down the Natinals on Thursday. Gee went seven innings giving up two hits, no runs, two walks, while striking out seven. Livan Hernandez only gave up one run on a Justin Turner single in the fourth, but the Natinals offense completely stagnated against Gee.

St. Louis 4, Houston 2: Who had Kyle McClellan in their office pool to reach six wins before every other pitcher? Somehow McClellan is 6-1 on the season which is the best record for a pitcher in the majors. McClellan shut down the Astros in eight innings yesterday, which really isn't that hard to do. Not bad for a guy who was a long-reliever last year and this year is the fifth man in the rotation.

Arizona 2, Atlanta 1: Josh Collmenter, aka the guy with the tomahawk delivery, bested the Braves on Thursday to give Arizona the sweep. Collmenter went six innings gave up no runs and only two hits with one strikeout. The Braved flied out a lot in this game.

Baltimore 2, New York 13: I'm convinced if the Orioles didn't give up five runs in the first inning, they would have beaten the Yankees. Seven different Yankee players had RBIs on the night including Jorge Posada. That's just embarrassing Baltimore. Also never question Mike Francesa about Mariano Rivera!

Cincinnati 3, Pittsburgh 5: Pittsburgh went to Cincinnati and swept and knocked the Reds out of first place. The Pirates scored three runs in the fifth inning, two of the runs coming off a Neil Walker double. James Russell pitched to the seventh inning and four Pirates relievers pitched the rest of the game shutting down the Communists.

Boston 4, Detroit 3: The man named Al Alburquerque gave up the winning run to the Red Sox. Despite that, it's policy of this blog to forgive anyone named Alburquerque. Carl Crawford singled home the winning run in the ninth inning. If Justin Verlander knew how to win games, the Tigers would have beaten the Red Sox. (Giants fans will laugh at this reference.)

Florida 1, Chicago 5: Marlon Byrd and Starlin Castro drove in two runs apiece to give the Cubs the two-game sweep over the fish. Casey Coleman picked up the victory for the Cubs

Philadelphia 1, Colorado 7: Jason Giambi turned back the clock to his steroid glory days and hit three home runs against the Phillies and drove in all seven Colorado runs on the evening. Surprisingly enough, Giambi never had a three home run game until last night. Two of those home runs were hit off of Kyle Kendrick and the other home run was hit off of Danys Baez.

Kansas City 2, Texas 1, 10 Innings: Darren Oliver has five loses on the season. There's one problem with this, Oliver is a reliever! Oliver didn't even have a combined five loses from 07-2010. Even worse for Oliver, he gave up the winning hit to Jeff Francoeur! That's a rough night.

Oakland 1, Minnesota 11: The Twins putrid offense finally exploded Thursday afternoon. Justin Morneau homered and had three hits on the afternoon. Rene Rivera hit his first home run in nearly five years for the Twins to go along with another home run from something called Jason Plouffe. A's pitcher Tyson Ross had to leave in the first inning after facing just one batter with a pulled oblique muscle.

Video of the Day: I'm surprised the McCourts could afford to film this commercial.
