Foul Ball: Comebacks And The Winless

Jersey tastes good.
Chi Cubs 6 Arizona 5: The Cubs almost blew a 4-1 lead because Jeff Samardzija sucks as badly at baseball than he did at football. Thankfully for Samardzija and the Cubs, they were able to hold on to beat the Snakes. Tyler Colvin hit a home run and knocked in three runs for the Cubs.

Tampa Bay 3 Anaheim 5: The Rays horrendous start to the season continued with another loss. They're 0-4 to start the year. Torii Hunter knocked in two runs and Jared Weaver pitched 6 2/3 innings to pick up the victory. Now only if the Angels went back to wearing these uniforms.

San Diego 3 San Francisco 1: Same old song and dance for the Giants against the Padres. Score one run then lose because the Padres get a couple of bloop hits and the umpire is really squeezing the strike zone. I should be used to this by now.

Toronto 7 Oakland 6 in 10 Innings:  Only Oakland could jump out a 5-0 lead and blow it. Twitter star/Oakland starting pitcher Brandon McCarthy pitched well, but was betrayed by a faulty defense behind him that committed two errors. In the tenth inning Josh Willingham gave Oakland the one-run lead. So of course Grant Balfour served a meatball to Yunel Escobar in the bottom of the tenth for the walkoff home run. The A's have no luck.

NY Yankees 4 Minnesota 5 in 10 Innings: Until this game, the Yankees just flat out owned the Twins. Owned the Twins in the playoffs. Owned the Twins at Yankee Stadium. Owned the Twins in Minnesota. Owned the Twins period. The Twins though finally broke through on the Yankees in a haze of walks and Nick Swisher stumbling in the outfield. The Twins scored four runs in the 8th inning to tie the game and then won it in the tenth off a Joe Mauer single. Oh yeah. Andreuw Jones got a face full of Onion rings during the game.

Kansas City 7 Chi White Sox 6 in 12 Innings: I'll say this about the Royals. They have been very entertaining to start the season. That might not last, but they're at least fun to watch so far.  The Royals made another comeback and beat the White Sox in the 12th inning off a walk-off single by Melky Cabrera.

Cleveland 3 Boston 1: The Red Sox still haven't won a game this year only this time they lost in front of of a few thousand fans.

Terry Francona Quote: From the AP recap: “It’s not a lot of fun,” manager Terry Francona said. “But I don’t think anyone is going to feel sorry for us. We’ve got to play the game right and things will work out.” No Tito, we don't feel sorry for you.

Video of the Day: I would probably make fun of this Red Sox fan, but I would probably do the same thing to my kid involving the Giants and Dodgers (Via The Big Lead)

  1. Bumgarner was getting squeezed by the ump, but he also lost complete composure.
