College Basketball Open Thread

I'm going to be busy all day so I'm posting this open thread a little early. Since all the sports news is centered around the NFL at the moment, I thought this would be a good time to break up the monotony of the Super Bowl coverage with a little college basketball. My friend Kris' team Maryland plays Duke tonight on ESPN. Since this game is in College Park, Maryland tonight I have interest in this game. College Park oozes Duke hatred so much that it's fascinating watching the Duke-Maryland game every year. Also Syracuse plays UConn tonight for the battle of the Northeast. So it's a perfect night to take your mind off of all the Super Bowl coverage.

Schedule via the506.

7:00 Syracuse @ Connecticut – ESPN,
7:00 Virginia Tech @ NC State – ESPN2
7:00 Marquette @ Villanova – ESPNU
 9:00 Duke @ Maryland – ESPN
9:00 Missouri @ Oklahoma State – ESPN2
9:00 Clemson @ Virginia – ESPNU
11:00 Nevada @ Utah State – ESPN2

  3. Keith, I'm just a little tired and worn out. Save for the comment above, it'd be best if I kept my bad jokes/Michigan grumbling to a minimum for a while.

  4. Who knew? I would be happier that a Duke grad is commenting on this game instead of Dickie V.

  5. I want to know how RJBO's #BTNtervention went. ;-)

Also, I may need one myself.

  6. @Justin: Hahaha. I try not to watch, but then Sparty's trailing lowly Iowa 46-24 in the 2nd.....

Somehow, Wyoming is only trailing the Fighting Jimmers 61-59 with 2:25 left.

  7. Geez. Wyoming steps on the baseline in back-to-back possessions, down 61-60 with 1:03 left.

  8. Duke up 7 at the break, despite dominating the middle part of the 1st half.

Maryland needs to do a better job of keeping Duke off the boards

  9. Good effort by Wyoming, but some terrible offense by the Cowboys and 2 killer late And-1s allow BYU to win 69-62, despite Jimmer Fredette's struggling shooting night.

  10. Also, it was good of the ACC office to assign a D level crew to this game. Plenty of shaky calls in the half.

  13. Nice montage of Maryland students hating Duke, ESPN. Did you cut any of the ones who suggested they hated Duke since you show them all of the time?

  14. You just can't win in 2011 college basketball if you can't make 3's.
