Ranking the 2010-2011 Bowl Games

There are over 30 bowl games now in college football. I'm a sucker for bowl games, so I'll at least watch a full half of probably twenty of the games. There are some bowl games though I'll probably pass on. So let's rank every bowl game from the must see to the games you couldn't pay me to watch. (Rankings: 10 Must See, 1 Couldn't Pay Me To Watch)

Bowl schedule via JFein.

December 18
New Mexico Bowl (Albuquerque, NM): Brigham Young vs. Texas-El Paso 2:00 (ESPN)
- How does a bowl game between two 6-6 teams sound to start off the bowl season? (Ranking: 5)
Humanitarian Bowl (Boise, ID): Northern Illinois vs. Fresno State 5:30 (ESPN)- Northern Illinois lost the MAC Championship and their coach on the same weekend. (Ranking: 2)
New Orleans Bowl (New Orleans, LA): Ohio vs. Troy 9:00 (ESPN)- I just hope Rufus the Bobcat will visit Bourbon Street. Update!: Bubbaprog has convinced me to move this game up in the rankings because it's being played in New Orleans and Ohio has a punter who can kick the ball 85 yards. (Ranking: 4)

December 21
Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl (St. Petersburg, FL): Southern Mississippi vs. Louisville 8:00 (ESPN)
- Ruth Chris can't sponsor a bowl game? (Ranking: 2)

December 22
Las Vegas Bowl (Las Vegas, NV): Utah vs. Boise State 8:00 (ESPN)- A BCS caliber type of game played three days before Christmas. Gotta love the bowl system. (Ranking: 10)

Sun Bowl (El Paso, TX): Miami (FL) vs. Notre Dame 2:00 (CBS)- People are excited about this game because it's a rematch of the Catholics vs Convicts. These same people realize Michael Irvin and Tim Brown haven't played in college for over twenty years? (Ranking: 5)
Liberty Bowl (Memphis, TN): Central Florida vs. Georgia 3:30 (ESPN)- George O'Leary's red face vs. Mark Richt's tan body. (Ranking: 2)

  1. Don't I have to buy tickets to the Military Bowl, in order to make sure Maryland gets invited to a better bowl next year?

And whatever happened to the rule that all teams with a winning record had to be picked before bowls could start taking 6-6 teams? Someone needs to bring that rule back.
