Monday Night Open Thread
The Vikings-Giants finally play their game tonight, only it will be in Detroit at Ford Field. I'm sure that won't be awkward at all. Look for a good stream to watch that game. The real MNF game tonight is the Ravens-Texans. I'm sure the Texans will find some way to blow this game in the fourth quarter. Should be a fun/awkward night of football. Leave comments, enjoy the games, and don't be a troll.

The Texans could find a way to blow the game in the 4th Quarter, if the Ravens don't beat them to it.
ReplyDeleteBrett Favre is officially inactive, ending his 297 consecutive starts streak.
ReplyDeleteI don't feel so bad not getting a couple of the 30,000 ticket allotment now. Of course, I thought I could go on my lunch break and get tickets. #Fail
ESPN has spent the first 30 minutes talking about Favre, Alex Smith, and Josh Freeman and hasn't mentioned the game that is actually going to be shown tonight.
ReplyDeleteof course not. ESPN would have dumped the Ravens/Texans in a hot second, if they had any chance of getting the Giants/Vikings game.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the retractable dome is closed tonight, which begs the question: why do NFL teams want retractable domes, if they're keep 'em closed most of the time?
ReplyDeleteThis stream jumps around a lot, but it's all I can find right now.
ReplyDeletehttp://atdhe.net/30673/watch-new-york-giants-vs-minnesota-vikings
Careful with atdhe. It can give some computers viruses.
ReplyDelete3-0 Vikings at the end of 1.
ReplyDeletealso, AP is hurt.
my stream is:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.ucubd.com/mashups/Giants-vs-Vikings-12-13-2010-4160.html
wow. even playing the Viking horn in Detroit after a Vikings pick
ReplyDeleteTake this with a grain of salt because it's coming from Jon Heyman.
ReplyDeleteThe Phillies are looking for suitors for Blanton. And here we go......
Kris, the Vikings brought the PA guy and all the assorted sounds to make it seem like a Vikings home game.
ReplyDeleteVikes better not putz around fixing the Metrodome roof or clearing & preparing TCF Bank Stadium. They would hate to have Ford Field full of Bears fans next week.
Giants at the 1. 3rd and goal coming up. Hold on, a challenge.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile WOLF-TV is running a crawl saying they are sorry they can't air the Giants game and tried to do everything possible to get the game shown in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton market.
that was Harbaugh-esqe challenge from Coughlin
ReplyDeleteThe call will stand.
ReplyDelete@ Kris: Thanks for the stream. This one works much better.
Touchdown Giants!
ReplyDeleteJoe Buck thought that flag was going to be on the Giants for sure, but no, offsides on the Vikes.
Jacobs walks in for the TD, but that was a ridiculous challenge from Coughlin.
ReplyDelete@Justin
ReplyDeleteyou're welcome, & enjoy the Venezuelan youth sports commercial they play during every break.
Might not get very many comments from me tonight. I'm tired as hell and might watch this game in bed.
ReplyDeletethe Cofield taseing himself sack dance even drew a chuckle from Joe Buck.
ReplyDeleteI'm so nervous following Twitter right now.
ReplyDelete/Cliff Lee sweepstakes'd
@ Kris: And the creepy NFL Sunday Ticket music!
ReplyDeleteSeriously. It frightens me.
/Good thing I am going back home to my family's Sunday Ticket this Thursday!
The wave? Really, Detroit? The wave? Didn't the wave die with the Soulja Boy?
ReplyDeleteChris Carter just called the Texans, "The Houston Titans."
ReplyDeleteAikman: "the wave is back & only because they gave out all of these free tickets in Detroit."
ReplyDeleteBuck: "They're just entertaining themselves."
sportswatch Neil Best
ReplyDeleteFans chanting "Let's Go Lions" now. Also booed when video board said, "Quiet Please, Offense at Work" for Vikings. Strangest night ever here
So RJBO is at Ford Field tonight.
Giants are not totally winners in this situation, Troy Aikman. This situation now has them facing the Eagles on short rest.
ReplyDeleteSo RJBO is at Ford Field tonight.
ReplyDelete^See Comment #2
good thing the Texans aren't playing on the Eastern Washington field
ReplyDeleteBrett Favre's best moments?
ReplyDeleteYay
Gotta throw it here, Giants. And throw it into the endzone.
ReplyDeleteDamnit touchdown Boss.
ReplyDeleteIt's under review. They are questionning whether or not Kevin Boss took an appropriate length shit with the ball in order to complete the process of the catch.
ReplyDeleteOH MASON DROPPED IT!
ReplyDelete"Does Mike Pereira work on Monday nights? Can someone in the studio check to see if he is available?" - Joe Buck
ReplyDelete"I did not know I worked on Monday nights." - Troy Aikman
And sure enough, they brought in Pereira..........after Jeff Tripplett made the call.

ReplyDeleteDerrick Mason: whines when he doesn't get the ball, but is always good for 1 or 2 perplexing drops when he does get it.
ReplyDeleteYes, Curt, that short tribute to Favre was indeed fitting.
ReplyDeleteTimeout Ravens
ReplyDelete@Justin Fox fired up its studio for 1 game?
When did HW Bush join the Red Hat Club?
ReplyDeleteDid Craig Sager loan George H.W. Bush a jacket for the game? Yikes.
ReplyDeleteWhy do the Texans' suites look like a Residence Inn by Marriott room? #HugeLamp #GeorgeHWBushShotOnTV
ReplyDelete@ Kris: Yes. Yes they did.
ReplyDeleteTouchdown Ravens!--McGahee!
ReplyDeleteTouchdown McGahee!
ReplyDeleteGruden will eventually devolve into accusing Cundiff of using PEDs. #Touchbacks
ReplyDeleteI'll talk with you guys later. I'm about to fall asleep watching this game.
ReplyDelete"They want Vontae Leach to go to the Beach." - Jon Gruden
ReplyDeleteCan this guy shut up, already?
If I took the "This Guy" count this week, it would approach the high 20s easy. Maybe next week.
ReplyDeletei love me some Sizzle
ReplyDeleteRackers is short on the 52 yard FG attempt
ReplyDeletei'm just sitting here waiting for the inevitable Andre Johnson explosion
ReplyDeleteGreat catch by Owen Daniels!
ReplyDeleteREDDING!!
ReplyDeletegood return & then the unsportsmanlike penalty puts the Ravens in great shape
ReplyDeleteRedding hasn't moved that fast since he signed that contract that made him the highest paid DT with the Lions. #Bitter
ReplyDeleteTouchdown Derrick Mason!
ReplyDeleteGreat catch by Mason! TD-Ravens
ReplyDeleteI need to have my face magnetically detached from Twitter.
ReplyDelete/Can't......stop.......following.
Touchdown Bradshaw. 20-3 Giants. PAT pending.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling left out. The time is getting close for me to join Twitter.
ReplyDeleteI'll join Twitter when the Real Michael Reghi does. #HellFreezingOver #MaybeSoonerThanThat
21-3 Giants.
ReplyDeleteBooker to the endzone on the return, but there is a flag. Illegal block in the back on the Vikings.
@RJBO Real Michael Reghi would be an automatic follow for me
ReplyDelete/Twitter needs more "Big Fellas"
Gruden: "That's a good name for this guy: Ngata Today." #Brando
ReplyDeleteHere is a thought about the Phillies and Lee. The Phillies cannot come close to Lee in money and years, in comparison to what the Yankees can. So it's not like Lee is just using the Phillies for leverage. They may be behind the Yankees and Rangers in the pecking order because of that, but this is not a simple leverage situation. And if it is, is is a dumb, pointless, and senseless one.
ReplyDeleteINTERCEPTION! CARR!
ReplyDeleteSchaub picked by Carr!
ReplyDeleteOh, the Don Denkinger blown call. #BaseballSeasons1985 #MLB-N
ReplyDeleteCount me out for the Favre tongue bath by Berman at halftime
ReplyDeleteI think "I Will Remember You" by Sarah McLaughlin will run on a bed underneath Berman at halftime.
ReplyDelete"is it #43 Troy Pooloomooloo of the Steelers..."--Jaws
ReplyDeleteTOUCHDOWN RAVENS!! MASON!
ReplyDeleteWhat is it with Monday Night Football and blowouts? Yeesh.
ReplyDeleteTirico: "I want to make Houston people feel good. Their stadium's nice. They'll host the Final Four."
ReplyDeletePUT IN ORVLOVSKY!!!!! #kidding #NotDrunk
ReplyDeleteThe Joe Webb era has begun in Detroit!
ReplyDeleteTouchdown Andre Johnson! Wide open!
ReplyDeletewell, that was way too easy
ReplyDelete"I feel like I'm at the U"--Gruden to a chorus of groans in the booth
ReplyDelete"The Texans deserve to be booed." - Gruden a bit earlier in the game
ReplyDeleteWow. One of the few teams he won't endorse to the Hall Of Fame then?
Berman: "They tried the wave (in Detroit). They don't know who to root for." Tigers fans occasionally do the Wave at Comerica. #Rubes
ReplyDeleteThat Berman 3 Minutes on Favre has so much sap, you could blow your nose with a pancake. #SimpsonsReference
ReplyDeleteDAVID REED! TOUCHDOWN RETURN!
ReplyDeleteGruden: "How about Yards After Missed Tackles. I call it a YAM."
ReplyDeleteTerrible tackling by the Texans.
ReplyDeleteYou are not missing much if you are not watching this Vikings game. In related news, support Venezuelan soccer!
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteThe only way I'm missing something on that broadcast is if Joe Buck openly weeps about Favre. #Won'tDVRTheReBroadcastOnTheNFL-N
ReplyDeleteSources say Lee's decision is likely coming tomorrow. There's still time for ESPN to order a 1-hour special with Jim Gray!
ReplyDelete@ RJBO: Good idea. Tarvaris Jackson is injured and Joe Webb is the QB for the Vikings. The Giants are 16 seconds away from winning 21-3.
ReplyDeletereally Kubiak? FG?
ReplyDeleteBing Crosby & Baseball, then the 1960 World Series Game 7 Telecast on MLB-N Wednesday, brought to you by Sweet Valencia Oranges. #I'mAHack
ReplyDelete@Justin
ReplyDeletehmmm, the message I got from those commercials was that Hugo Chavez is planning to scare the west with a super kickball team
I die a little inside with every Andre Johnson catch
ReplyDeletelooks like Walter's knee hit on the chalk; but Kubiak is going to challenge
ReplyDeleteKnee came down out of bounds. Not a catch.
ReplyDeletecall is confirmed, incomplete
ReplyDeletepunt perfectly downed inside the 5. but, i'm nervous
ReplyDeleteAll Schaub needs is to throw it near Andre and he'll catch it
ReplyDeletethis is getting interesting. where did everyone go?
ReplyDeletethis could be the game...4th and 5 at the 7
ReplyDeleteThis could be the ball game if Houston can't convert
ReplyDeleteTD Texans...Jones
ReplyDeleteTD Jones and time for the Texans D to step up...again
ReplyDeleteOne score game now...
ReplyDeletei'm still stunned that
ReplyDelete1. Schaub didn't get a grounding call on 1st Down &
2. Landry didn't make that pick in the end zone
San Diego St is up 29-17 over Cal Poly with 11:26 left in the 2nd half...
ReplyDelete2 more FD's will do it for the Ravens
ReplyDelete3rd & 1 ---the Texans burn their last TO
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind a pass here, with how bad that Houston pass D is
ReplyDeleteShould of went deeper or take a sack.
ReplyDeletethe Ravens D is going to have to win this--again.
ReplyDelete2:00 warning-Texans still 75 yards from paydirt
ReplyDeleteInteresting Ravens TO
ReplyDeleteI you guys stayed up for the Sharks-Stars game. #OrNot
ReplyDeleteFirst Down Jones and gets out of bounds
ReplyDeleteTackle him in bounds, not throw him out
ReplyDeleteTwo middle fingers to Webroot Security. #Anti-VirusFail
ReplyDeleteRyane Clowe is carrying the Sharks this season. He scored again tonight.
ReplyDeleteWhat a play by Arian Foster to get out of bounds, call a TO Ravens
ReplyDeleteTexans 4 yards from the end zone
ReplyDelete1st & Goal Johnson. Clock running.
ReplyDeleteThis would be a perfect time to use one of those TO's Harbaugh
ReplyDeleteTOUCHDOWN ANDRE JOHNSON!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletewhat a catch by Andre Johnson. unreal.
ReplyDeleteJACOBY JONES! TIE GAME!
ReplyDeleteOH WHAT A CATCH JACOBY JONES!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTIED GAME!
ReplyDeleteJACOBY JONES NOW!!!! THESE TEXANS CAN SNAG THE BALL!!!!!
ReplyDeletePitchforks & torches are at the ready
ReplyDeleteBack to back 95+ yard TD drives. Wow.
ReplyDeleteno lead is safe with this Ravens D
ReplyDeleteHarbaugh should of used another TO to give that D some rest at least
ReplyDeleteTexans are still capable of a comical late loss. #CaptainObvious
ReplyDeleteOT in Houston! Wow!
ReplyDeleteRavens leave 2 TO's on the clock for no use
ReplyDeleteI turned on Conan thinking this game was over. Wow. What a comeback by Houston.
ReplyDeleteSign: "All I Want For Christmas Is A Texans Playoff Game." #StockingFullOfCoal
ReplyDeleteRavens get the ball...
ReplyDeleteRavens win the toss and receive the ball.
ReplyDeleteRavens to get the ball to start, this could be over quick
ReplyDeleteBring back Billick!
ReplyDelete/worst coached team in the NFL
Time for the Texans to blow this game. #AlsoCaptainObvious
ReplyDeleteHow did Flacco get that away?
ReplyDeleteHow the hell did Flacco find Mason?
ReplyDeleteGreat play by Flacco
ReplyDeleteThey ran that right to the teeth of the blitz
ReplyDelete1st down Boldin
ReplyDeletegood pass to Boldin to the 40
ReplyDeleteWay to leave Boldin open, Quin
ReplyDeleteBREAKING NEWS - CLIFF LEE IS NOT GOING TO BE A YANKEE, REJOICE
ReplyDeleteTirico: "Pollard is taking up residence in Flacco's face."
ReplyDeleteThat throw was out into Rice University
ReplyDeleteFlacco sacked by Mark Anderson! #FormerBearNowGood
ReplyDeleteMark Anderson with a huge sack on Flacco
ReplyDeleteguess what? Ken Rosenthai was right about Lee!

PISTOL!!!
ReplyDeletePICK 6! HAHAHAHAHA TEXANS!
ReplyDeleteClassic Houston
ReplyDeleteOnly the Texans could lose like that.
ReplyDeleteScott Mitchell did the same thing in OT with Darrell Green in Washington. #HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
ReplyDeleteAND A WALK OFF INTERCEPTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteUNREAL!!! #FEARTHETURTLE!!
ReplyDeleteGruden: "Haloti Ngata saying Ngata Tonight."
ReplyDeleteTirico: "Houston has seen this story before."
ReplyDeleteHeyman just confirmed Lee is a Phillie
ReplyDeleteCliff Lee can now lose to the Giants twice a year now.
ReplyDelete/Sorry I can't take him seriously after losing to the Giants twice in the World Series.
Well this has been a historic night.
ReplyDeleteThe Philies and Giants have by far the top 2 rotations in baseball. Phils have the slight edge but the Giants have the ring and trophy that matters the most.
ReplyDeleteOf course, SportsCenter only says Lee isn't going to the Yankees. Typical.
ReplyDeleteI like to give Cliff Lee kudos to take less money to play on the Phils. At this rate, the Phils don't need much of a pen to win.
ReplyDelete@Longley: The Giants proved the Phillies can't hold their pitchers joke strap and they'll prove it again.
ReplyDeleteLee might of left 50 Mill on the table. Crawford and Werth, took the money and ran.
ReplyDeleteNow I sit back and wait for the Tigers to trade Oliver & Jacob Turner for Greinke. Hey! Heyman said The Tigers were a dark horse! #NotDrunk
ReplyDeleteIn a span of 4 minutes, the state of Texas lost Cliff Lee and a football game. Different cities, yes, but funny nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteAnd through all this, ESPN can only talk about Favre.
3 off-season prizes, 0 new Yankees.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome.
@ longley: The ironic part of this is the Phillies more than anyone else thought Cliff Lee would take every penny he possibly could, shades of what Jayson Werth did.
ReplyDelete
