Monday Night Open Thread

The Vikings-Giants finally play their game tonight, only it will be in Detroit at Ford Field. I'm sure that won't be awkward at all. Look for a good stream to watch that game. The real MNF game tonight is the Ravens-Texans. I'm sure the Texans will find some way to blow this game in the fourth quarter. Should be a fun/awkward night of football. Leave comments, enjoy the games, and don't be a troll.

  1. The Texans could find a way to blow the game in the 4th Quarter, if the Ravens don't beat them to it.

  2. Brett Favre is officially inactive, ending his 297 consecutive starts streak.

I don't feel so bad not getting a couple of the 30,000 ticket allotment now. Of course, I thought I could go on my lunch break and get tickets. #Fail

    ReplyDelete
  3. ESPN has spent the first 30 minutes talking about Favre, Alex Smith, and Josh Freeman and hasn't mentioned the game that is actually going to be shown tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  4. of course not. ESPN would have dumped the Ravens/Texans in a hot second, if they had any chance of getting the Giants/Vikings game.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Also, the retractable dome is closed tonight, which begs the question: why do NFL teams want retractable domes, if they're keep 'em closed most of the time?

  6. This stream jumps around a lot, but it's all I can find right now.

The Phillies are looking for suitors for Blanton. And here we go......

    ReplyDelete
  12. Kris, the Vikings brought the PA guy and all the assorted sounds to make it seem like a Vikings home game.

Vikes better not putz around fixing the Metrodome roof or clearing & preparing TCF Bank Stadium. They would hate to have Ford Field full of Bears fans next week.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Giants at the 1. 3rd and goal coming up. Hold on, a challenge.

Meanwhile WOLF-TV is running a crawl saying they are sorry they can't air the Giants game and tried to do everything possible to get the game shown in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton market.

    ReplyDelete
  14. that was Harbaugh-esqe challenge from Coughlin

    ReplyDelete
  15. The call will stand.

@ Kris: Thanks for the stream. This one works much better.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Touchdown Giants!

Joe Buck thought that flag was going to be on the Giants for sure, but no, offsides on the Vikes.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Jacobs walks in for the TD, but that was a ridiculous challenge from Coughlin.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  24. Chris Carter just called the Texans, "The Houston Titans."

    ReplyDelete
  25. Aikman: "the wave is back & only because they gave out all of these free tickets in Detroit."

    Buck: "They're just entertaining themselves."

    ReplyDelete
  26. sportswatch Neil Best
Fans chanting "Let's Go Lions" now. Also booed when video board said, "Quiet Please, Offense at Work" for Vikings. Strangest night ever here

So RJBO is at Ford Field tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Giants are not totally winners in this situation, Troy Aikman. This situation now has them facing the Eagles on short rest.

  29. good thing the Texans aren't playing on the Eastern Washington field

    ReplyDelete
  30. Gotta throw it here, Giants. And throw it into the endzone.

    ReplyDelete
  31. It's under review. They are questionning whether or not Kevin Boss took an appropriate length shit with the ball in order to complete the process of the catch.

    ReplyDelete
  32. "Does Mike Pereira work on Monday nights? Can someone in the studio check to see if he is available?" - Joe Buck
"I did not know I worked on Monday nights." - Troy Aikman

And sure enough, they brought in Pereira..........after Jeff Tripplett made the call.

  35. Derrick Mason: whines when he doesn't get the ball, but is always good for 1 or 2 perplexing drops when he does get it.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yes, Curt, that short tribute to Favre was indeed fitting.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Timeout Ravens

@Justin Fox fired up its studio for 1 game?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Rackers is short on the 52 yard FG attempt

    ReplyDelete
  46. i'm just sitting here waiting for the inevitable Andre Johnson explosion

    ReplyDelete
  47. good return & then the unsportsmanlike penalty puts the Ravens in great shape

    ReplyDelete

  53. 21-3 Giants.

Booker to the endzone on the return, but there is a flag. Illegal block in the back on the Vikings.

    ReplyDelete
  54. @RJBO Real Michael Reghi would be an automatic follow for me

    /Twitter needs more "Big Fellas"

    ReplyDelete
  55. Gruden: "That's a good name for this guy: Ngata Today." #Brando

    ReplyDelete
  56. Here is a thought about the Phillies and Lee. The Phillies cannot come close to Lee in money and years, in comparison to what the Yankees can. So it's not like Lee is just using the Phillies for leverage. They may be behind the Yankees and Rangers in the pecking order because of that, but this is not a simple leverage situation. And if it is, is is a dumb, pointless, and senseless one.

    ReplyDelete
  65. "The Texans deserve to be booed." - Gruden a bit earlier in the game

Wow. One of the few teams he won't endorse to the Hall Of Fame then?

    ReplyDelete
  66. Berman: "They tried the wave (in Detroit). They don't know who to root for." Tigers fans occasionally do the Wave at Comerica. #Rubes

    ReplyDelete
  68. Gruden: "How about Yards After Missed Tackles. I call it a YAM."

    ReplyDelete
  72. Sources say Lee's decision is likely coming tomorrow. There's still time for ESPN to order a 1-hour special with Jim Gray!

    ReplyDelete
  73. @ RJBO: Good idea. Tarvaris Jackson is injured and Joe Webb is the QB for the Vikings. The Giants are 16 seconds away from winning 21-3.

    ReplyDelete
  84. TD Jones and time for the Texans D to step up...again

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  129. Cliff Lee can now lose to the Giants twice a year now.

/Sorry I can't take him seriously after losing to the Giants twice in the World Series.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Well this has been a historic night.

    ReplyDelete
  131. The Philies and Giants have by far the top 2 rotations in baseball. Phils have the slight edge but the Giants have the ring and trophy that matters the most.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Of course, SportsCenter only says Lee isn't going to the Yankees. Typical.

    ReplyDelete
  133. I like to give Cliff Lee kudos to take less money to play on the Phils. At this rate, the Phils don't need much of a pen to win.

    ReplyDelete
  134. @Longley: The Giants proved the Phillies can't hold their pitchers joke strap and they'll prove it again.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Lee might of left 50 Mill on the table. Crawford and Werth, took the money and ran.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Now I sit back and wait for the Tigers to trade Oliver & Jacob Turner for Greinke. Hey! Heyman said The Tigers were a dark horse! #NotDrunk

    ReplyDelete
  137. In a span of 4 minutes, the state of Texas lost Cliff Lee and a football game. Different cities, yes, but funny nonetheless.

And through all this, ESPN can only talk about Favre.

    ReplyDelete
  138. 3 off-season prizes, 0 new Yankees.

    This is awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  139. @ longley: The ironic part of this is the Phillies more than anyone else thought Cliff Lee would take every penny he possibly could, shades of what Jayson Werth did.
