College Football Open Thread: Week 11

Okay I have to make an confession. I won't be around for the majority of the day. Today is the opening day of pheasant season so I'll be going back to my home town to visit my father. I won't be hunting, but I will be at a party celebrating both the beginning of the pheasant season and the end of the harvest season. All crops in the area that I grew up in have been harvested, so the farmers in the area like to celebrate the end of the season. That's what I'll be doing. I will be back though for the regular Sunday NFL live blog. That shouldn't stop you though from enjoying today's slate of college football games. So enjoy the game, leave comments, and don't be a troll.

Must List and Announcing Schedule

  1. Go Huskies!

/I can't find a stream that is not going to fill me with spam
    //Listening to WHLM Radio.

  2. I'll be here for about an hour, then I have to leave.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Dueling punts to start the game. Mercyhurst ball at their own 35 with 10:35 left in the 1st.

    ReplyDelete
  4. 61-yard touchdown run for Mercyhurst.

    7-0 Lakers.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I can't believe the Wolverines actually got a turnover, let alone a scoop-and-score. #Hater

  6. "Gordon picks it up & the GPS says endzone."- Chris Martin

    ReplyDelete
  7. 26-yard field goal for Bloomsburg. Good.

    7-3 Mercyhurst.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Pass interference called on a pass that was 15 yards over the head of the Mercyhurst WR. That was 3rd down. And figures the next play is a touchdown.

"The Lakers have stunned the Huskies." - Jim Doyle

    14-3 Mercyhurst.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Bad comparison between Braylon Edwards & Roy Roundtree, Chris Martin. Roundtree didn't drop that wide open TD.

    ReplyDelete
  10. 3rd & 17 Bloomsburg. This could have started better.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Draw? Oof.

FUMBLE ON THE PUNT!!! BLOOMSBURG BALL!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  12. QUITEH!!!!!!! TOUCHDOWN BLOOMSBURG!!!!!!!!!

14-10 Mercyhurst with 1:49 left in the 1st.

Franklyn Quiteh is a freshman running back who is leading all of Division II in rushing yards for the season. I don't know much about scouting D2 players for NFL Drafts, but if he keeps this up over the next 2-3 years, I wonder if he'll get an NFL shot.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Michigan actually forced a team to a FG????? 14-3 Wolverines.

    ReplyDelete
  14. See Tennessee. This is what happens when a Simms kid isn't playing. Good thinks happen.

  17. If anyone is bored with the morning games and want to listen to what I'm listening to, here is the link to the radio stream. It is the local Bloomsburg radio broadcast so the announcing is obviously with a slight bias, but these guys are decent listen, imho.

    ReplyDelete
  18. End of 1 in Erie. 14-10 Mercyhurst.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Mercyhurst inside the Bloomsburg 5. Bleh.

    ReplyDelete
  20. "Good to hear Timmy B's voice."-Craig Bolerjack

    Speak for yourself, Craig.

    ReplyDelete
  21. It's only Purdue, but I'm not used to Michigan forcing 3-and-outs. #It'sEarly

    ReplyDelete
  22. Good grief this is shaping up into an arena game. Now Bloomsburg is driving with the football, inside Mercyhurst 43, but facing a 3rd and 3.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Incomplete.

Punt blocked. Mercyhurst returns it to the Bloomsburg 35.

    /Should have went for it

    ReplyDelete
  24. INTERCEPTED!!!!!!!!!!! VINCE BROWNING!!!!!!!!!!!! YES! YES! YES!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Geez Denard. Throws the Pick-6 in the Red Zone and whiffs on the tackle attempt.

    ReplyDelete
  26. You guys enjoy yourselves. I have to leave now, I'll talk to you tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Eric Collins: "The Boilermakers with some Hope." Where's Wayne Larrivee?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Our leading WR got injured in the 1st quarter and has not returned from the game. Bleh.

Incomplete on 3rd down. Punt time.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Gordon with the Pick 6! 21-0 Vols and things are starting to get ugly at Rocky Top.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Punt return touchdown Mercyhurst. 28-10 Mercyhurst in the 2nd.

    ReplyDelete
  31. NOW here comes the excitement in West Lafayette. Michigan fails on 4th and 1, Purdue with great field position, down 14-10.

    ReplyDelete
  32. 4th down coming up. I'd go for it.

    ReplyDelete
  33. FAKE!!!! COX!!!! 1ST DOWN!!!!! THANK GOODNESS!

    ReplyDelete
  34. "If you can't punt, don't."

    Indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Purdue turns the bad RichRod decision on 4th and 1 into a FG. 14-13 Michigan.

    ReplyDelete
  36. 28-17 Mercyhurst with 3:15 left in the 2nd quarter.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Denard Robinson (and Michigan in general) can't run today against this vaunted *cough*cough* Purdue defense.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Eric Collins is fond of saying the runner gets "stoned."

    ReplyDelete
  39. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Touchdown Mercyhurst. 35-17 Mercyhurst with 1:35 left in the 1st half.

Bloomsburg's defense is supposed to be one of the best there is.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Denard Robinson with an 11 yard pooch punt. Purdue's gonna win this game easily. #Hater

    ReplyDelete
  42. Mercyhurst has scored more points in this half against Bloomsburg than any team has scored in a game against Bloomsburg.

    35-17 Mercyhurst at halftime.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Why the Hell would Purdue call a timeout on 4th and 6 with 2 seconds left in their own end of the field? Michigan's D is bad, but not that bad...

    ReplyDelete
  44. 14-13 Michigan at the half after a Purdue Hail Mary-turned pick-turned lateral-after lateral to nowhere.

Nice 4 second interview with Charissa Thompson, RichRod.

    ReplyDelete
  45. TD Vinson Smith after the Purdue muffed punt, but Michigan Ndamukong Suh's the XP. 20-13 Wolverines.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Eric Collins: "Left handed...left footed punt."

    ReplyDelete
  47. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Chris Martin after another Denard pick: "One thing Sweet 16 has shown, is that he will give away birthday presents."

    ReplyDelete
  49. Heh. Denard is gonna get the hook for Tate Forcier.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Bloomsburg putting together an offensive drive late in the 3rd, but it is looking like it might be too little, too late.

    ReplyDelete
  51. "Being bowl-eligible is like being an eligible bachelor. Doesn't automatically mean you're married the next day." - Dave Lapham

    ReplyDelete
  52. QB draw touchdown Bloomsburg!

/Now the score is a little less humiliating.

    ReplyDelete
  53. 42-24 Mercyhurst.

A BU turnover followed by a quick score, and I would not be quick to rule us out, though losing both our leading WR and RB to injury this game will hurt a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Mercyhurst to midfield. Geez. Who swapped the Bloomsburg defense with the Michigan defense?

    ReplyDelete
  55. If Purdue had even a halfway decent and healthy QB, they would've had an easy TD on 3rd down.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Denard back in at QB after the 3 and out on the last possession by Forcier.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Mercyhurst is in BU territory. A turnover is needed. Now.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Back-to-back Personal fouls on Michigan after a drive to the Red Zone. Good God.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Denard fumbles. Purdue ball. #PutInForcier! #NotReally

    ReplyDelete
  60. Not sure why Mercyhurst just threw 3 straight passes in this situation, all of which fell incomplete.

32-yard fielder is BLOCKED! 12:03 left, Bloomsburg trails 42-24. 18-point deficit. Amazing this game is not over.

    ReplyDelete
  61. At least Purdue has their own Robinson at QB making terrible decisions. Throws a pick right to James Rogers.

    ReplyDelete
  62. TOUCHDOWN BLOOMSBURG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Hahaha Justin.
Forcier is now back in there for Michigan.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Bloomsburg going for 2. Butler is stopped just short on the carry.

    42-30 Mercyhurst.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Michigan leads 20-16 at the end of 3 Quarters. I'm getting the "How will they blow this?" feeling I normally get when I watch the Lions.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Not sure why we went for 2 there. Kick the PAT and make it an 11-point game.

    ReplyDelete
  67. OH! Mercyhurst had a wide open receiver down the field but the QB couldn't find his man in bounds! 3rd & 6 Mercyhurst. This is effing huge.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Crap. Diving catch for a 1st down.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Holy shit Broekhuizen. Brutal attempt at a 42 yard FG.

    ReplyDelete
  70. And touchdown. 48-30 Mercyhurst

8:04 left, but Bloomsburg can't get a defensive stop for the life of them. Very uncharacteristic of them.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Of course. Kick return to midfield.

/I hate it when my teams tease me like this.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Oh geez. Overthrow of a wide open WR by 5 yards. That sounded like a sure TD.

    ReplyDelete
  73. TOUCHDOWN BLOOMSBURG!!!!!!

/Until our defense gets a stop, I'm not jumping up and down.

    ReplyDelete
  74. 6:27 left in Erie. 49-37 Mercyhurst

    ReplyDelete
  75. Mike Shanahan thinks RichRod should pick a QB and stick with him. Denard back in for Michigan.

    ReplyDelete
  76. ONSIDE KICK BLOOMSBURG RECOVERS!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Why on earth was Mercyhurst not playing the onside kick there? Geez.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Officials conference. No one is quite sure why.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Mercyhurst ball. Huh?

Ball didn't touch the ground is the ruling? That's a rule?

    ReplyDelete
  80. Why would Mercyhurst even try and pass here? Incompletion stops the clock.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Michigan-Purdue is a freaking joke. 10 turnovers, 5 QBs used combined. Georgia-Auburn can't start fast enough.

    ReplyDelete
  82. 3rd and 25. Mercyhurst throws a 35 yard completion.

    That's been this game.

    ReplyDelete
  83. 56-37 Mercyhurst with 3:28 left in the game.

Mercyhurst Lakers, the 2010 PSAC Champions.

Good thing Bloomsburg is likely a playoff team.

    ReplyDelete
  84. 56 points is the most points Bloomsburg has given up since the 2000 National Championship game.

    ReplyDelete
  85. FD Denard to Koger! Michigan needed that, up by 4 late in the 4th.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Wow Northwestern! Driving on Iowa, down 3 with 90 or so seconds left.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Wisconsin 76 Indiana 13. Yikes.

And, Bucky the Badger has left the stadium.

    ReplyDelete
  88. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  89. It's a final. 56-37 Mercyhurst wins the 2010 PSAC Championship.

D2 playoffs selection show is tomorrow at 3 on ESPNNEWS.

I don't get ESPNNEWS and I probably have a meeting that time tomorrow anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Touchdown Northwestern! But Dan Persa is hurt.

    Wildcats scored too quickly. #Millen

    ReplyDelete
  91. Touchdown Northwestern! Iowa will get the ball with about 70 seconds left, though.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Touchdown Michigan! Hopkins!

Can't wait for Wisconsin to put 91 on the Wolverines next Saturday....

    ReplyDelete
  93. Ooh, nearly a killing Stanziball!

    ReplyDelete
  94. Bloomsburg should still make the tournament, but there is no way they will be one of the top 2 teams and get a first round bye, something they would have had with a win (they started the day ranked #2 in the Super-Regional).

    ReplyDelete
  95. And, Indiana scores to draw within 56!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Stanzi nearly gets picked again! 4th down for Iowa.

And, we have 80 in Wisconsin!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Stanzi is sacked! Iowa calls their last timeout.

    ReplyDelete
  98. And, it's mercifully over in Wisconsin. Badgers absolutely destroy the Hoosiers, 83-20, tying a modern day Big 10 record for points scored in a game.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Damn. I still can't believe that Michigan didn't allow an offensive TD. Purdue's shitty QB scenario has to do with that. #Hater

    ReplyDelete
  100. TOUCHDOWN MINNESOTA WITH :19 TO PLAY!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  101. N'Western owns Iowa. Hawkeyes virtually eliminated from Big 10 Championship contention as Chelsea Dagger plays in Evanston.

    ReplyDelete
  102. And, Iowa's Big 10 title hopes just evaporated with that loss.

    ReplyDelete
  103. If that Bloomsburg game was painful, I dread how painful this PSU-anOSU game is going to be.

/Good thing I have a shitload of work to do

    ReplyDelete
  104. South Florida defeats Louisville 24-21 in OT to become bowl eligible for the 6th consecutive season.

And, Cam Newton will get the start for Auburn vs. Georgia

    ReplyDelete
  105. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Can CBS get out of Ole Miss-Tennessee? Kenny Rogers would pay $180,000 for this game to be switched out....

    ReplyDelete
  107. Apparently I won't be privileged to supporting a team that plays a good game on defense today.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Ruptured achilles for Persa. He done.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Ouch. I liked Dan Persa, save for the puns announcers dug up.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Georgia's "Baccari Rambo" with a personal foul. That sounds like a pseudonym for when rock stars check into hotels.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Jeff Carter has signed an 11-year, $58M extension with the Flyers. That could have been worse. Much worse, in fact.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Review gives a TD run to Cam Newton. Worth every penny. #rumor #innuendo

    ReplyDelete
  113. Brent and Kirk have an obsession with mentioning that McGloin is from Scranton, PA.

    ReplyDelete
  114. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  115. "You keep watching your game, I'll be watching games all across the country." - Robert Flores

    ReplyDelete
  116. TOUCHDOWN PENN STATE!

Here's a stat for you. That is the 1st TD pass a Joe Paterno coached team has ever scored in Columbus, Ohio.

    ReplyDelete
  117. "Buckeyes a three touchdown favorite, according to Bodog." - Brent Musburger, avid gambler.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Can someone count in the SEC? Going for it on 4th and 1, Georgia broke the huddle with too many men. Luckily, they got the timeout before the penalty.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Nice run by Redd.

McGloin is having his way with the Ohio State defense thus far.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Verne: "That news update was for the benefit of all of those who might've been stuck on a cruise ship south of San Diego and didn't know about Cam Newton."

    ReplyDelete
  121. I like McGloin a lot better than Bolden thus far. It's not that Bolden is a bad QB, that's not true, but McGloin gives this team and this offense a personality that they did not have with Bolden, a naturally shy and quiet person.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Touchdown Chapas! Georgia leads!

Auburn's secondary is an absolute garbage fire.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Brent: "(McGloin) looks up and checks himself out on the big screen."

    ReplyDelete
  124. TOUCHDOWN MOYE!!!

This is Moye better than the Bloomsburg game.

And for the first time ever, Penn State has scored 2 TDs in a game against Columbus. And after getting 0 passing TDs in the Horseshoe before this game, McGloin has 2 on the day.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Brent: "The kid with moxie's got a pair!"
"We've got an underdog howling, and I mean howling...."

    ReplyDelete
  126. Suffice to say I didn't see this one coming.

    ReplyDelete
  127. This is Moye better than the Bloomsburg game. #Brando

Mario Fannin was Wide Open for an easy TD and dropped it.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Justin, I chalked up McGloin's successes against Michigan as just going up against a Practice Squad-level defense. To say he's been impressive against AnOSU would be an understatement.

    ReplyDelete
  129. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  130. SDSU leads TCU 14-0;
    Georgia leads Auburn 21-7. #GettingCloserToBoiseState-LSUTitle

    ReplyDelete
  131. So, uh, this is really happening.

I think Penn State and Bloomsburg may have switched identities for the day. Penn State is playing like I expected Bloomsburg to play and Bloomsburg played like I expected Penn State to play.

    ReplyDelete
  132. San Diego State 14, TCU 0. Go SDSU.

    /Boise for BCS'd

    ReplyDelete
  133. The Penn State wrestling team was on campus for a match last night.....I wonder if the football teams used that opportunity to swap identities or something?

    ReplyDelete
  134. Well isn't that the impossible trivia question, Brent.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Brent: "The kid...the gunslinger as one of his teammates calls him..."

    ReplyDelete
  136. SDSU's lead now down to 14-7, TCU with a phenomenal punt return for Kerley...sliced in half by a personal foul.

    ReplyDelete
  137. I criticize Paterno a lot, but I like his aggressiveness in this game.

    ReplyDelete
  138. TD TCU, but the XP is no good. SDSU leads 14-13 near the end of the 1st.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Not sure why you go the outside on that, but I still like that decision, even if it did not pay off.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Oooh. McGloin's hurt?

Herbstreit: "Unless that baby's broke, nothing's gonna stop #11 in white today."

    ReplyDelete
  141. 3 and out for Ohio State after failed 4th down attempt.

From what I'm seeing, most PSU fans on the internet did not like that previous decision to go for it. In large part I think it is because I believe in a more aggressive football philosophy.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Ted Robinson's doing the game on Versus instead of Beninati. #ThereIsAGod

    ReplyDelete
  143. Holy shit Utah. Down 28-3 to Notre Dame? Bleh.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Tied at 21 on the Plains.
3 great games on at the same time.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Dalton to Kerley for the Horned Frogs TD! 27-14 TCU

    ReplyDelete
  146. You've got to tackle Herron in space short of a FD, Nittany Lions. #PennStateFanForADay

    ReplyDelete
  147. Touchdown Dalton to Kerley. 34-14 TCU near halftime as order is restored in Fort Worth.

    ReplyDelete
  148. A 96 yard TD drive after halftime for the Buckeyes. #Ruh-roh

    ReplyDelete
  149. Tony Barnhart on CBS at the half with the soliloquy about the Cam Newton scenario.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Looks like a stinger for Stephfon Green.

    ReplyDelete
  151. "The Cam Newton case exposes the worst in human behavior." - Tony Barnhart

I think that is taking it a tad too far.

    /Understatement'd

    ReplyDelete
  152. Pick six. Ohio State leads.

Okay, maybe going for it on 4th down at the end of the 1st half was not such a good idea after all.

    /hindsight'd

    ReplyDelete
  153. A measure of revenge for Devon Torrance. Touchdown Buckeyes on the Pick-6. Bleh.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Now the refs will review if the ball went 10 yards or not. More griping about replay from Verne & Gary.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Smith needs to make that catch. Unacceptable drop on his part.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Calls stands on the Plains. Sean Payton call works for Gene Chizik after halftime.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Penn State is completely falling apart in the 3rd quarter.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Thank goodness that quarter of pain and torture is over.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Thanks for nothing with that Johnny Moseley groin shot, Skating With the Stars commercial.

    ReplyDelete
  160. What a catch by Chris Durham! Georgia needed that to stay in this game.

    ReplyDelete
  161. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  162. There is no way that Ohio State will pass the ball on this drive.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Holding negates a 40-yard run. Haha.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Touchdown Georgia!

    tied again at Auburn

    ReplyDelete
  165. The Penn State defense played that as well as they could. That's about one of the luckiest bounces you will ever see in a football game.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Game over in Columbus.

Can't say I am too disappointed about that one. I never expected Penn State to beat Ohio State.

    ReplyDelete
