Inside the Paint: Someone Stop the Cavs & Welcome to the NBA, Blake Griffin

Cleveland 95 Boston 87: Well for one night, the Cleveland Cavaliers didn't need Lebron James. The Cavs defeated the team that beat the Cavaliers in the playoffs last season. J.J. Hickson lead the way for Cleveland with 21 points, six rebounds, and one assist. The Boston big three didn't exactly show up last night. According to ESPN Stats & Info the Boston big three combined for 34 points on 12-for-33 (36.4 percent) shooting.

Antawn Jamison Quote: If Jamison actually played well in the playoffs for Cleveland, maybe Lebron would have never broke the hearts of Cleveland. From the AP: “This was for the city.”

Philadelphia 87 Miami 97: The big three of Miami finally looked like a real team on Wednesday night. The big three combined for 61 points and outscoring the 76ers on the floor by five points in the 25 minutes they played together. Evan Turner had an impressive debut coming off the bench for the Sixers and leading their team with 16 points to go along with seven rebounds. Too bad the city of Philadelphia didn't show up for the young man's debut.

Minnesota 116 Sacramento 117: I'm a homer so we're going to talk about the Sacramento Kings. The Kings were able to hold off the Timberwolves in the final seconds to pick up their first opening night victory since 2003(When they defeated Cleveland in LeBron's NBA debut). And the Kings were without Tyreke Evans (suspension) and Samuel Dalembert (Injury). Carl Landry lead the Kings with 22 points and 11 rebounds and rookie DeMarcus Cousins had 14 points.

Oklahoma City 106 Chicago 95: Kevin Durant does what Kevin Durant does by scoring 30 points to go along with Russell Westbrook's 28 points and six assists. This game was actually close at one point, but the Thunder held the Bulls to only 13 points in the fourth quarter and would eventually go on a 11-0 run during the final quarter.

New Jersey 101 Detroit 98: The Pistons aren't going to win many games this season so they blew an golden opportunity to pick up one of those wins against the Nets. The Pistons allowed the Nets to go on a 13-3 run in the final 1:40 minutes left in the game. Anthony Morrow hit the Piston with a three-point dagger with 26 seconds left. Amazingly last year it took the Nyets 18 games to win their first game of the year last season. This year, they got the monkey off their backs quickly.

Charlie Villanueva Stating the Obvious Quote: From the AP, "This is definitely one of those games we just couldn't finish," Villanueva said. "We were up seven with 1:40 to go and we pretty much had the game won. We had to win that game. We just didn't do the things down the stretch to win that game."

Los Angeles Clippers 88 Portland 98: Blake Griffin finally played in his first career NBA game and he was quite impressive. Griffin, who missed all of last season with a broken knee cap, scored a double-double in his debut (20 points, 14 rebounds). The Clippers are still the Clippers though and lost to Portland.
