The Greatest Card Ever

I need some cheering up. The depressing news out of Sacramento today is that NBA has given up on Sacramento as a NBA city and that the Kings could possibly move by next year. I needed some cheering up and this basketball card cheered me up. It's an 1992-1993 Upper Deck Mitch Richmond card. It's more of a painting on a card. with Richmond shooting outside of Arco Arena. I love this card because Richmond was my favorite player and Arco Arena is my favorite arena/stadium.

At the same time I love this card, it's depressing as hell. It's depressing because of the thought of the Kings no longer in Sacramento after this year. What people don't understand is that the Kings represent the northern valley of Sacramento. They're not just the pride of Sacramento, but the pride of small valley towns that I grew up in. While the Bay Area teams have a huge presence where I grew up, they've never represented towns like Colusa, Williams, Lodi, or Chico. You've probably never heard of these towns and that's okay. Just remember these small feel represented by the Sacramento Kings. Think of the Kings as the blue collar team, where fans crowded a small barn on the northern side of Sacramento screaming their lungs out in love of the Kings. That's something teams like the 49ers, Giants, A's, Warriors, Sharks, and Raiders will never know about. Those teams don't represent small blue-collar Sacramento valley towns, they represent high dollar white-collar towns from the Bay Area. I pray the Kings don't move, but I feel like at this point that a move of the Kings is inevitable.
