Foul Ball: Jimenez Outduels Lincecum

San Francisco 0 Colorado 4: You might as well hand Ubaldo Jimenez the Cy Young right now. The guy can't be touched. Jimenez pitched a complete game shutout against the Giants. Jimenez improved his record to 10-1 on the season with a 0.90 WHIP and 0.78 ERA. Jimenez faced off against Tim Lincecum who is struggling big time right now. Lincecum looks uncomfortable on the mound and has given up a lot of walks in recent games. Giants fans are hoping it's just a blister hampering Lincecum, but I'm seriously fearing the worse.

Atlanta 9 Philadelphia 3: The good news for Philadelphia, they weren't shutout. The bad news, they lost to Atlanta and moved back for a tie with the Braves in first place of the NL East. Not even a Roy Halladay perfect game could inspire Joe Blanton not to give up eight hits, six runs, in six innings of work.

Joe Blanton Quote: The Phillies players are suffering from "Losing Syndrome" like the Giants were a week back. From the AP recap, “It just seems that everything that can go wrong does.” Blanton said. “We know we’re a good team.”

Pittsburgh 2 Chicago Cubs 1: Only the Cubs could lose on a Bobby Crosby pinch-hit go ahead run. The Pirates have used the Cubs as a pinata this year. The Pirates are 8-1 against the Cubs dating back to last year. They were 1-6 coming off a road trip and still managed to beat the Cubs.

Houston 4 Washington 14: The Astros and Roy Oswalt continue to lose. Oswalt was actually ejected in the third inning of the game for arguing balls and strikes. It didn't matter as Oswalt picked up the loss after giving up four runs and four hits in only 2 1/3 innings of work. I bet he can't wait to get the hell out of Houston.

Seattle 4 Minnesota 5: Three home runs by three different Twins players was enough to give Minnesota their fifth straight victory. Justin Morneau continues his hot streak with two doubles, 3 hits on the day to raise his league-leading average to .377 on the year. Doug "Chip Caray's favorite player" Fister lost his AL leading ERA in the game.

  1. Ugh, the Phillies are just flat out playing bad baseball at this point. It's really starting to become hard to watch.

  2. God bless the MLB Network. I got home last night just in time to see the walk-off balk by the D-backs to gift wrap a victory for Casey Blake and the Dodgers.
