Foul Ball: Go Cubs Go

Cincinnati 5 San Francisco 6: In one of the more bizarre games that I have watched, the Giants somehow managed to come from behind to pick up the victory. Juan Uribe drove in four runs including the game-winning runs in the seventh inning. This was Uribe's first game ever driving in four runs without hitting a home run. Brian Wilson didn't pull his usual high wire act and picked up his 15th save of the season.

Pittsburgh 1 Chicago Cubs 6: Got to love random rain-out make up games. Because of last Wednesday canceled game, the Cubs had to travel back to Pittsburgh to play the Pirates on Monday. Carlos Silva is off to the best start by a Cubs pitcher in 43 years by going 8-0 on the season shutting out the Pirates in eight innings. In the MLB Draft, the Cubs selected Hayden Simpson which irritated Cubs fans over at Bleed Cubbie Blue. They were reprimanded by Al Yellon in epic fashion.

This is always a good laugh, once a year.

Texas 2 Seattle 4: Cliff Lee wasn't Cained by his lineup in the game and was actually able to pick up the complete game. Lee was actually given four runs of support and he made the best of it. Lee pitched a complete game giving up four runs, seven hits, and striking out seven.

Cleveland 1 Boston 4: Dice-K managed to extend his scoreless streak to 15 innings, by shutting down the Indians. Dice-K gave up four hits, no runs, two walks, and struck out five to pick up his fifth victory of the season. Four different Red Sox player drove in runs, including former Indian Victor Martinez.

Oakland 2 Los Angeles 4: The Angels have come back to take the AL West lead. Bobby Abreu hit a two-run home run, and Scott Kazmir won for the third time in his fourth start. "The Angels are 8-1 since Kendry Morales broke his leg during a walkoff celebration." I love how AP decided to run that stat in their story. Poor Morales will never celebrate anything, ever.

Video of the Day: Here's another video for a good laugh.

  1. I remember getting into a heated argument in the Wrigley bleachers (after several Old Styles) about who the Cubs should trade for: Nomar Garciaparra or Randy Johnson. I got my wish that year...

    /facepalm

Keith, are you throwing up an open thread tonight for Strasburg/NBA Finals?

  2. @RJBO: I'm not going to be around for most of the day, so there won't be any other posts except a Strasburg/NBA Finals open thread.
