Foul Ball: A New Beginning & Remembering a Legend

Minnesota 5 Boston 2: The Twins are finally in their new ballpark. They're out of the old and decrepit Metrodome and into the beautiful Target Field. The most surprising aspect of the day was the beautiful weather in Minnesota. It was a spring like 65 degrees in Minnesota while it was rainy and cold in Northern California. Go figure. Jason Kubel hit the first home run in the ballpark and hometown kid Joe Mauer knocked in two runs to give the Twins the victory.

Chicago Cubs 9 Milwaukee 5: Xavier Nady got a warm welcome to Wrigley Field. Nady hit a two-run home run in his first game with the Cubs at home. Nady, Aramis Ramriez, and Jeff Baker all homered for the Cubs in the game. Ryan Dempster picked up the victory going six 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and five runs.

Cleveland 2 Texas 4: Who is Nelson Cruz? Nelson Cruz is the guy who has hit five home runs in seven games including a game-winner against Cleveland. In the tenth inning against the Indians, Cruz hit a two-run home run off of Jamey Wright to give the Rangers the victory. Interesting fact of the game, Indians catcher Mike Redmond was hit with foul balls in the knee, thigh and right shoulder—all in the same inning.

St. Louis 5 Houston 0: The Astros are bad. I'm mean real bad, like 62 Mets bad. Once again the Astros were shut out, this time by the Cardinals to improve their record to 0-7 on the season. The Astros have only scored 13 runs all season and have been already shut out twice on the year. It's going to be a long year in Houston.

San Diego 17 Atlanta 2: Sunday's four hour rain delay in San Francisco didn't help the Braves out at all. The Father's exploded for a ten-run fourth inning against Atlanta and then added six runs to drive a dagger in the hearts of the Braves. Amazingly the Padres power hitter Adrian Gonzalez only had one RBI in the entire game. That's how bad a game Atlanta had.

Toronto 7 Chicago White Sox 8, 11 innings: Canada's own son broke the hearts of the Blue Jays. Mark Teahen tripled home the go-ahead run in the eleventh inning against Toronto. Old man Omar Vizquel scored the winning run for Chicago. This was Chicago's first win in Toronto since 2007.

Ozzie Gullien Quote: From the AP: “I want them to give me a headache when I make the lineup,” Guillen said. “I don’t want to try digging through players, trying to make a lineup that can hit. If you hit, you’re going to be in the lineup somewhere.” Ozzie playing the part of Mr. Obvious.

San Francisco 9 Pittsburgh 3: I would like to thank Mr. Hensley Meulens. I have no idea what he has done to the Giants lineup as their hitting coach, but it's working out. I would also like to thank Mark DeRosa and Aubrey Huff for making the Giants lineup more balanced and shifting Bengie Molina to a more natural sixth spot for him. Molina went 4-for-4 with four RBIs and a home run in the Giants win. Barry Zito improved to 2-0 on the season by going six innings giving up five hits and three runs.

Video of the Day: Today is the anniversary of the passing of legendary announcer Harry Kalas. Here's a tribute video one of the games best. JFein has a great written tribute to the man.
