Must List: Week 10

Sorry for not posting the Must List yesterday on Thursday like I usually do. I was looking for a bong for Tim Lincecum could smoke his week. My apologies.............

I want everyone to thank the BCS for turning the college football season into complete wasted of time (wait............applauds.........standing ovation.) College football Saturday's should be a celebrated event, with multiple games to watch from the early mourning to late at night. Instead the BCS has turned college football into a scavenger hunt. You have to look hard to find a game that is worth watching.

This week there are only three games worth watching. Only three! That is outrageous. We should be trying to make the life-altering decisions as to what games we should be watching, instead the BCS did our work for us(Applauds again). Now will everyone see why college football is in need of a playoff. The BCS has turned the college football regular season into a game of survival. Survive this week and move on and hope the BCS doesn't punish you to severely.

Anyways here's the games you should be watching. Also here's the announcing schedule.

Northwester @ Iowa (ESPN, Noon)- Iowa thought they had an easy game last week against Indiana. They had to survive to beat Indiana. This week they play a sneaky Northwestern team. Now if your like me and don't want another crappy Big Ten team in the national title picture, then you should be rooting for Northwestern in this game. Also this game marks the return of Bob Griese to the booth after this unfortunate comment.

Ohio State @ Penn State (ESPN, 3:30PM)- You can wear your Terrelle Pryor t-shirt. Also this game will prove if Daryl Clark or Terrelle Pryor are the worse quarterback in the Big Ten not named Juice Williams.

LSU @ Alabama (CBS, 3:30PM)- This game has all of a sudden become a must-watch every year. We can thank Nick Saban for that. Remember last year when Saban made his return to LSU? I wonder how Alabama fans will greet LSU? This game is also exciting because this is Alabama's last test and last hurdle before the SEC Championship game. If Alabama wins here, their next toughest game is against Florida in the SEC Championship. If LSU wins, then all hell breaks out.

Oregon @ Stanford (FSN, 3:30PM)- How will Oregon respond after a huge victory over USC? How will they travel? Hopefully Oregon smokes those nerds on The Farm.

UConn @ Cincinnati (ABC, 8PM)- Poor UConn. They still haven't won since the tragic death of Jasper Howard. They were hammered at West Virginia, then had their hearts broken by Rutgers. Cincinnati on the other hand is looking to stay undefeated and stay in the national title picture. Who knew a Big East game would be so exciting?

Recipe of the Week, Pumpkin Chipotle Soup: Since the recipe for Garlic Fries was so popular, I thought I would leave you with another recipe.

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
4 cups vegetable stock
1 (29 ounce) can pumpkin puree
2 chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, minced
1 1/2 cups half-and-half cream
2 tablespoons sofrito
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon paprika

Directions:
Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook until the flour has turned golden brown, about 3 minutes. Whisk in the vegetable stock and bring to a boil over high heat. Whisk in the pumpkin puree until no lumps remain, then add the chipotle peppers, half-and-half cream, sofrito, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and paprika. Return to a simmer, then reduce heat to medium-low, and cook for 8 minutes until thickened and hot.

Beer of the Week, Harvest Moon: Nothing like drinking a Blue Moon seasonal to go along with your Pumpkin Chipotle Soup. I would drink a Harvest Moon along with your meal. Harvest Moon is one of the best seasonal beers in the World. It goes down smoothly and it's a perfect compliment to go along with your meal on a cold fall night.

Two Movie to Sunday: If college college football isn't your deal and you just want to get to the NFL Sunday, then here is two movies you could watch.

1) The Fourth Kind- I've seen so many previews for this movie, that I don't even want to watch it now. Plus I'm not big into the whole UFO, Area 51, and Roswell thing. If your into aliens and alien abduction, then this should be your kind of movie.

2) The Men Who Stare at Goats- This movie looks like it has an American Beauty/The Big Lebowski type of feel. A comedy/drama that maybe only a select few would enjoy. If the Arizona State-USC game becomes dis interesting, I might check out this movie.

  1. Sounds like a good reecipe. I might add some pumpkin chunks.

I guess I'm the only one awaiting the Maryland/NC State showdown?
