El Nino Could Ruin the 2010 Olympics

Anyone who has lived through El Nino can tell you it is miserable. I lived through El Nino back in 1997. It was fun having to worry about your house being flooded and being in a constant state of panic.

In case you were wondering, El Nino is a weather system that comes up through Mexico. The surface temperature in the Pacific Ocean rises, so when it rains, you get warm water. Also, when it rains it pours, causing the threat of floods in the valley of California. So yeah, I have lived through El Nino and it can be a scary thing.

It's especially scary for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. Meteorologists are predicting another El Nino system is expected to hit the entire West Coast. And with that it could ruin the Vancouver Olympics.

And with the warmer weather, means no snow for the mountains surrounding Vancouver until late December.

"If (El Nino) happens then chances are we would have a warmer-than-usual winter . . . that's not a good scenario for the Olympics," he said. "(But) it's still early in the game."
El Nino ruins a lot of things, and the 2010 Olympics could be next.
