Foul Ball: Why Isn't there more games?

Foul Ball is your daily baseball recap

For two Monday's in a row, MLB only scheduled a small amount of games. There should have been more games. This Monday, there was two National League games and two interleague games. Anyways, here are some headlines.

- Carlos Beltran is the latest Mets player to go on the DL

- Ryan Howard could return to the Phillies lineup after staying in the hospital with flu-like symptoms

- The Yankees filed a protest after loss to Florida

- Donald Fehr is stepping down as the MLB Union head. A lot of people blame him for the troubles that faces baseball right now.

6 Mets 4 Cardinals: Daniel Murphy homered and Omir Santos went 4 for 4 to help the ailing Mets beat the Cardinals. Tim Redding went seven innings giving up five hits and four runs for the Mets. New York reliever Brian Stokes got Albert Pujols to ground into a crucial double play in the seventh inning. Redding was making a spot start for New York, because of all the injuries affecting the Mets.

2 Braves 0 Cubs: Nate McLouth and Chipper Jones knocked in the only RBI's of the game. Javier Vasquez went 6 2/3 innings giving up nine hits and zero runs. Three Braves relievers combined with Vasquez for the shutout.

5 A's 1 Giants: I hate Jonathon Sanchez. He is the one weak link in the Giants rotation. He gives up too many walks and then he starts losing control. And once he loses control he starts giving up a lot of runs. Sanchez was suppose to be good this year, for we could trade him for a bat. Now he has no trade value. So once again, I hate Jonathon Sanchez. By the way, oft-injured Bobby Crosby knocked in three runs for the A's.

11 Rockies 1 Angels: No one is stopping the Rockies at this point. The Rockies tied an NL-record by going 17-1 in the last 18 games. Brad Hawpe hit a three-run home run and celebrated his 30th birthday. Vlad Guerrero has not hit a home run in 25 straight games for the Angels. Where's those magical eye drops that Big Papi used?
