Foul Ball: Vogelsong Returns Home

San Francisco 3, Colorado 0: Ryan Vogelsong started his first game in a Giants uniform at home and didn't disappoint the Giants crowd. Vogelsong took a perfect game into the fifth inning against the Rockies before allowing a leadoff single to start the sixth inning. Vogelsong on the day only gave up one hit and one walk while striking out four. Javier Lopez and Brian Wilson finished the game and the sweep of the Rockies. Cody Ross drove in all three runs for the Giants including two runs on a home run.

Philadelphia 2, Atlanta 5: Freddie Freeman, Alex Gonzalez, and Eric Hinske all homered for the Braves as Atlanta took two out of three from the Phillies. Jair Jurrjens scattered eight hits, but only gave up one run.

Toronto 2, Detroit 5: The day after Justin Verlander's no-hitter, Brad Penny shut down the Blue Jays. Penny went 7 2/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs. Austin Jackson went 3 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs his second consecutive three hit game. Toronto probably doesn't want to see Detroit again after this series but will have to play one more game against them this series. John Olerud ain't walkin through that door Toronto.

Florida 8, Washington 0: Anibal Sanchez once again flirted with a no-hitter until it was broken up in the seventh inning. Sanchez would go on for the day to give up no runs, two hits, while striking out a career high eleven batters. The other Sanchez on the Marlins drove in three runs and homered. Greg Dobbs out of all people drove in two runs for the Marlins.

Baltimore 3, Tampa Bay 5: When BJ Upton isn't arguing with umpires and getting suspended, he's driving in four runs against the Baltimore Orioles. The Rays avenged their sweep at the hands of the Orioles at the beginning of the season by sweeping the Orioles in Baltimore. The Rays have also now won eight straight games on the road.

Joe Maddon Quote: From the AP: “Yeah, he felt really strongly about playing here,” manager Joe Maddon said. “Nice job.” The more this man speaks, the angrier I become.

Seattle 2, Chicago 5, 10 Innings: Paul Konerko had five hits on the day but drove in no runs and scored only one run. That's hard to do. Alexei Ramirez drove in the game-winning run in the tenth inning for the White Sox and two more runs were driven in to drive the stake through the heart of the Mariners.

Ozzie Guillen Quote: From the AP: “Hopefully, the first of many ones,” Guillen said. “Hopefully, we can turn it around and it will give us confidence as a team and confidence as individual players.” I like grumpy Ozzie more than cheerful Ozzie.

Chicago 0, Cincinnati 2: Johnny Cueto made his season debut for the Reds and threw a shutout in six innings while striking out four. The two runs driven in by the Reds were by Ramon Hernandez and Drew Stubbs. The Cubs left nine men on base including six in scoring position with two outs. /sad trombone Cubs fans
