Baseball Update: The Draft and Jose Reyes Landing Spots

What Pitch Is That?: Grant over at McCovey Chronicles posted this .gif and asked a simple question. What is this pitch that Brian Wilson? Is it a cutter or a changeup? Also that's not the first crazy pitch Brian Wilson has thrown this year. (Note: Don't look at this Kris. With the Orioles closer situation, you'll just stare at this .gif and start crying.)

Mock Draft, Baseball Style!: John Sickles of Minor League Baseball has posted his first mock draft for the baseball draft. There's one thing clear about this year's baseball draft is that there is no Bryce Harper or Stephen Strasburg to choose from. There isn't a clear cut number one choice. Just the Pittsburgh Pirates luck. Sickles has the Pirates taking Anthony Rendon with the first pick, a third baseman from Rice. The other player the Pirates could possibly choose is Gerrit Cole a pitcher from UCLA. Overall this draft class looks very weak.

Where Will The Mets Trade Jose Reyes?: There's two things clear about the Jose Reyes situation in New York. He's going to be traded and will be traded for young prospects. Jon Heyman lists the six possible teams that could trade for Reyes; Cardinals, Giants, Brewers, Red Sox, Twins, Mariners, and Yankees.

Just kidding about that last team. The Cardinals and Giants could certainly use Reyes because both teams are currently starting Cubs rejects Ryan Theriot and Mike Fontenot at short. The Brewers and Red Sox have nothing to trade. The Mariners are a year away from contending. The Giants and Cardinals make the most sense for a landing spot for Reyes but at what cost do those teams want to make that trade? Giants GM Brian Sabean proved last year that he isn't going to give up pitching prospects for hitters who are about to become free agents. So is there another team out there that could give the Mets what they want for Reyes? Will a team like the Red Sox be willing to trade for Reyes even though he might only be a rent-a-player? One thing is for certain, Reyes is now the Carmelo Anthony of baseball.

Bloopers!: How can anyone not enjoy bloopers?

Haha: This story made me laugh. The Red Sox have made "contact" with free agent catcher Bengie Molina but aren't ready to sign to him yet. I'm sure he won't pout or anything if the Red Sox decide not to sign him.

You'll Enjoy This Story: This great story is about a Michigan family that always stops by the site where old Tigers Stadium used to be. The baseball diamond from Tigers Stadium is still in the same location, but the stands are gone and the field is nothing but weeds now. It's fun being nostalgic though and remembering the great times you had at the classic ballpark.

Pitching Matchup of the Week, Josh Johnson vs. Roy Halladay on Tuesday: This matchup should get even the on the fringe baseball fans wet in their pants.

Speaking of the Phillies: The Fightins finally discovered the Citizens Bank Ballpark trash can hippie!
