Cleveland 4 Washington 9: StrasburgMania took it's act to Cleveland. Strasburg's start didn't last as long as his debut (5 1/3 innings) but he was just as dominate. Strasburg gave up 2 hits, 1 one, 5 walks, and struck out eight. Strasburg has 22 strikeouts in 12 1/3 innings of work so far this season. I want to see Strasburg though face a team with a real lineup though.
San Francisco 6 Oakland 2: The A's swept the Giants in Oakland last month, so the Giants repaid the favor in San Francisco this month. The Giants swept the A's behind another great Matt Cain performance. Cain gave up eight hits, one run, four strikeouts in seven innings of work. Aubrey Huff hit two home runs in the game to go along with a home run by Juan Uribe.
Boston 3 Philadelphia 5: Cole Hamels was able to cool off the Red Sox bats and help the Phillies salvage the weekend series with Boston. Hamels pitched seven innings giving up five hits, one run, one home run, two walks, and eight strikeouts to pick up the victory. Raul Ibanez hit a two-run home run to go along with RBIs from Jayson Werth, Juan Castro, and Ben Francisco.
NY Mets 11 Baltimore 4: Kevin Milwood's stats through the year: 0-8, 4.64 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, 44 ER, 16 home runs. Not exactly ace of the staff type of stuff. Milwood against the Mets gave up 11 hits, eight runs, in 5 1/3 innings of work. Meanwhile Mike Pelfrey is 9-1 on the year and the Mets are 1.5 games behind the Braves for first place in the NL East.
San Diego 2 Seattle 4: Despite a Tony Gwynn Jr. inside-the-park two-run home run, the Padres came up short against the Mariners and Felix Hernandez. King Felix pitched 8 2/3 innings giving up four hits, two runs, one walk, and striking out nine. Milton Bradley has his head on straight and jacked a homer against his former team.
Arizona 7 St. Louis 5: Chris Young homered twice for the Snakes, including the game-winning homer. Young homered off of Kyle McClellan in the bottom of the ninth to win the game for Arizona with a walkoff. Chad Qualls blew his fourth save of the season for Arizona in the game.
Chi Cubs 1 Chi White Sox 0: Ted Lilly and Gavin Floyd flirted with no-hitters as both Chicago offense showed how inept they are. Floyd lost his no-hitter in the bottom of the seventh. Lilly lost his no-hitter in the top of the ninth when pinch hitter Juan Pierre singled to center. Chad Tracy drove in the only run of the game in the seventh inning.
Do the Good Guys and the Royals count as real teams?
ReplyDeleteIn the mean time, my friends who follow the Natinals are becoming arrogant jackasses. I now know why so many NHL fanbases despise the Caps fanbase.
