This series has been back-and-forth so much, I have no clue who is going to win. One game the Lakers look great. One game the Celtics look great. I hate using cliches like "This is a must win for (whatever team" but this is a must win for either the Celtics or Lakers. With the series tied and going back to Los Angeles for Game 6 and 7 neither team wants to go back to the Staples Center on the verge of elimination.
The Celtics are hoping the Big 3 have a complete game together. All three players have been inconsistent throughout the series. The Lakers are hoping for better defense and rebounding in Game 5. Also the Lakers have to get something out of their bench. Lamar Odom has pulled one of his usual disappearing acts so far in the series. The Lakers need more out of him since Andrew Bynum will be hobbling around on a bum knee.
Once again watch out for the refs. I thought the refs did a good job in Game 4, but you never with these guys. As always leave comments and don't be a troll.
This NBA Finals has been nearly unwatchable.
ReplyDeleteCeltics by 18.
I think Kobe wins this game for the Lakers. He's due.
ReplyDeleteFinally a "traditional" playing of the National Anthem
ReplyDeleteAnd we're due for one decent NBA Finals game, aren't we?
ReplyDeleteDoc pregame: "The more we sweat in peace, the more we rest in war."
ReplyDeleteI would make a "these games must be peaceful because dude's face usually looks like the BP oil spill" joke, but only Keith would get it.
/Brad in Corona'd
Nice reference, RJBO.

ReplyDeleteBynum needs to stay out there for the Lakers to win. He's looked good early. Let's see if he can gut it out.
ReplyDeleteNice counterprogramming, ESPN. Good Guys-Cubs. A 3 hour loop of the commercial with Ozzie & Piniella rapping would be more entertaining.
ReplyDeleteBig Baby does look like an Ogre.
ReplyDeleteKendrick Perkins should never lead the break again. Ever.
ReplyDelete@RJBO yes. ESPN would have done a lot better with Mets/Orioles
ReplyDelete/sarcasm
seriously, how did you ever survive 2003?
Perkins leading the fast break made me fall off my couch laughing.
ReplyDeletekt, I was a Cubs fan from afar and got to Chicago after the '03 meltdown. My hard times surviving were 2004 (they choked away a wild card spot) and 2005 (watching the Good Guys win as the Cubs struggled).
ReplyDeleteENOUGH GROWNUPS PROMOS!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Lakers are only shooting 29% and the game is tied? Celtics are in trouble
ReplyDeleteNeed a Big Baby sighting!
ReplyDeleteTo your point, kt, Cs shooting 61%.
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked Joey Crawford got that call right.
ReplyDeleteBad news for the O's, Kris. The Giants are red hot right now. They swept Oakland and are looking great on offense. Aubrey Huff hit two home runs today.
ReplyDeleteSheed has had some nice D inside this quarter.
ReplyDeleteGoran Dragic is probably having a nice laugh at Sasha's "shooting" right now.
ReplyDelete@Keith the Giants should be ashamed if they don't take at least 2 from the Zer-O's. Good to see Audrey's getting ready for it.
@Kris: Agreed. The Giants should take 2 out of 3 from the O's. Watch, they will lose 2 out of 3.
ReplyDeleteI turned to the baseball game just in time to hear the guys going on about gum. Once Jon Miller did the "Doublemint Gum" song, the channel quickly changed.
ReplyDeleteVujacic with the 3.
With each Nate Robinson basket, a piece of each Knicks fan soul dies.
ReplyDeleteBreen on Rondo's scoop: "That's a pretty move, Mark."
ReplyDeleteJackson: "That's takin' it to the streets."
Rondo versus Artest. It's like a cat versus a pitbull.
ReplyDelete/The Lox's "Money, Power, Respect"d
that's a dumb T by Rondo.
ReplyDelete"[Rondo] weighs 112 lbs and Artest weighs 280"
LOL Artest & Rondo
ReplyDeleteJVG: "Say 'Queensbridge' now, Artest. 'Queensbridge!'"
ReplyDeleteHilarious!
Frankly, Rondo shoving Artest may have awoke the Celtics.
ReplyDeleteOwn Goal from Gasol!
kt, no one doesn't even does that in schoolboy play, let alone the NBA Finals.
ReplyDelete/Martin Tyler'd
Btw, if Rondo gets a T for touching Artest, why didn't Kobe get one? Is it because Artest is a potential homicidal maniac?
ReplyDeleteThat's a nothing call on Rondo.
ReplyDeleteI believe Mookie will now chew you out for mocking Martin Tyler, RJBO
ReplyDeleteshould be some fireworks in the 2nd half
ReplyDeleteGreat half by Boston.
ReplyDeleteHe should. "No one doesn't even 'does?" What have I been drinking?
ReplyDeleteKobe better snap out of this funk fast.
@RJBO South African water?
ReplyDeleteDetroit water through a Brita water pitcher would be South African water.
ReplyDeleteBen McDonald is doing the Super Regional game on ESPN2?
@RJBO Ben McDonald has been horrible on MASN. His accent is only slightly less thick than the Scotsman ESPN had on the Germany game this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteAgreed on Ben's accent, kt.
ReplyDeleteESPN's found some interesting people to do the Super regionals: Morgan Ensberg, Eric Byrnes, Nomah, and I think Beth Mowins & one of ESPNU's basketball analysts were on the UVA Super regional together.
Eric Byrnes? Isn't he suppose to be playing softball in the South Bay right now?
ReplyDeleteEric Byrnes did the regionals in Miami last week & the Super Regionals in Gainesville this week.
ReplyDeleteNo runs, no hits either way in Chicago so far.
@RJBO is it Dan Bonner? He goes right from ACC Basketball to ACC Baseball. Shockingly, he has nothing insightful to say about baseball.
ReplyDeleteI love Jon Miller, but he is terrible on ESPN. I blame the presence of Joe Morgan.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I have no idea, kt. I think he played basketball or football in the SWAC. That might rule out Dan Bonner...
ReplyDeleteNice block by Perkins leads to the Pierce 3!
the Celtics have awoke
ReplyDelete@RJBO yeah. the SWAC would rule out Dan Bonner.
ReplyDeleteKobe woke up this half, too.
ReplyDeleteTed Lilly with a no-hitter through 6.
ReplyDeleteGavin Floyd with a no-hitter through 5. Heh.
Only the Chicago teams could no-hit each other.
ReplyDeleteOdd because Lilly is 1-5 & Gavin Floyd is usually only capable of beating the Tigers.
ReplyDeleteSix no-hit innings for Floyd.
Ray Allen & Derek Fisher with the double Ts.
ReplyDeleteWow, Kobe, wow
ReplyDeleteHOLY SHIT KOBE!
ReplyDeleteKobe having the Lakers' last 21 points and they're still down by double digits.
ReplyDeleteTed Lilly a no-hitter through 7.
ReplyDeleteCs are gonna pull away at this rate.
ReplyDeleteJon Miller talking about the "best & worst umpire" poll. Stunned CB Bucknor finished last ahead of Joe West & Angel Hernandez.
Gasol scores the first non-Kobe points of the 2nd half.
ReplyDeleteSoriano with a double to end Floyd's no-hit bid.
Gavin Floyd just lost his no-hitter.
ReplyDeleteFantastic 3rd quarter
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that I agree with Joe Morgan......
ReplyDeleteLilly a no-hitter through 8!
ReplyDeleteTed Lilly has a no-no through 8....
ReplyDeletePierce didn't need to 'sell' that foul call.
ReplyDelete/JVG constantly through tonight's game'd
"It's all Chicago tonight." - Jon Miller
ReplyDeleteShit! What do I watch? 4th quarter of the NBA finals or the top of the 9th?
ReplyDeleteThey would play through a monsoon in order to get this no hit bid through the 9th.
ReplyDeleteJon Miller, Zambrano's no-hitter against the Astros happened in Milwaukee because of Hurricane Ike, not Katrina.
ReplyDelete"Not a very good throw- but a VERY good...execution by Piersynzki there" -Joe Morgan
ReplyDeleteTop of the 9th upcoming....
ReplyDeleteSomeone called Bruce Froemming and he didn't leave an expletive-laced voicemail in response?
ReplyDeleteBase hit by Juan Pierre. Heh.
ReplyDeleteBASE HIT!
ReplyDeleteWhy is Spike Lee at the Garden??
ReplyDeleteJackson: "I call it 'Grand Theft Rondo.'" Bleh.
ReplyDeleteMark Jackson--"That is Grand Theft Rondo"
ReplyDeleteWHAT A GREAT TIP-IN BY RONDO!
ReplyDeleteRondo! Just wow
ReplyDeleteThis game has been awesome
ReplyDeleteRondo has been incredible this quarter. Wow.
ReplyDeleteJackson: "What a flop by Pierce. Learned from Derek Fisher."
Fisher was never wheeled off the court before, Mark.
Got to admit I can't wait to see the Cubs blow this
ReplyDelete"Just like the Blackhawks goaltender in the Stanley cup Finals- Nemmi"
ReplyDeleteoh Jon Miller, you're going over the cliff
Cubs hang on
Jon Miller: "(Koyie Hill) needs to be like the Blackhawks goaltender in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Nemi...Niemi was so good." ?
ReplyDeleteKobe fouled on a 3 attempt. Wow.
ReplyDeleteoh what is Ray Allen thinking?
ReplyDeleteJVG's reverse psychology idea was the 2nd worst concept I heard in sports today.
ReplyDelete/Dick Stockton suggesting Strasburg should be on the All-Star team this year
Keep it classy, Boston.
ReplyDeleteDid that ball hit the rim?
ReplyDeletewhen did a West Virginia game break out?
ReplyDeleteJVG "why don't they just point out the moron and throw him out?"
I don't think the ball hit the rim at all
ReplyDeleteBut the Cs got the ball anyways.
ReplyDeleteBud Selig approves of no replay on that 24 second call.
ReplyDeleteWow. are the Celtics trying to give the game away?
ReplyDeleteof course Artest had to help the Celtics out
ReplyDeleteArtest just gave the game back missing those 2 FTs.
ReplyDeleteRONDO AGAIN!
ReplyDeleteRondo did it again!
ReplyDeleteRONDO'D
ReplyDeleteJackson: "You talk about Rondo being the best QB in Boston, well Pierce proved he was a good receiver, too."
ReplyDeleteCs with a chance to close it out in Staples Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteCrazy Pills lost this game for the Lakers.
ReplyDeleteThat's it. I'm taking all money and putting everything on the Lakers Tuesday night.
ReplyDeleteNo Caliendo Hats tonight?
ReplyDeleteEasy, kt. Stern might want this series to go 7.
ReplyDelete/conspiracy theory'd
@RJBO huh? of course this is going 7!
ReplyDeleteDamn. I am drunk.
ReplyDelete/goodnight, fellas!
Goodnight fellas
ReplyDelete
