Foul Ball: The Earth Shakes During Blue Jays-Padres Game

San Diego 3 Toronto 6: Southern California was rocked by an earthquake last night that was felt during the Blue Jays-Padres game. I love how in the middle of the quake, Blue Jays 1st baseman Lyle Overbay doesn't freak out but instead adjusts his cup. John Buck homered twice and drove in three runs to go along with the 3 RBIs from Aaron Hill. Shawn Marcum picked up the victory for the Blue Jays. The Padres are clinging to a half game lead in the NL West over the Dodgers and Giants.

San Francisco 10 Baltimore 2: Signs of a bad baseball team: terrible starting pitching, worse bullpen, and none of the calls go in your favor. All three happened last night for the Orioles. First starting pitcher Chris Tillman gave up six runs in only two innings of work. Then reliever Frank Mata gave up two straight walks with the bases loaded. Even worse it was against a Giants lineup that swings at everything. And two huge calls went against the Orioles last night, including a home run by Ty Wigginton that wasn't called and a double play where Freddy Sanchez never touched 2nd but still got the call. My deepest apologies to Kris and the rest of the Orioles fans.

Los Angeles Angels 2 Milwaukee 12: Quite a night for Casey McGehee and Ryan Braun. McGehee homered when the ball hit Torii Hunter's glove and went over the wall. McGehee also knocked Eric Aybar out of the game with a hard, but clean slide into 2nd base. Ryan Braun hit a grand slam in the game, his third career, off of Joe Saunders(the first he's ever allowed).

St. Louis 9 Seattle 3: Luckily for the Orioles, they have company in the bad baseball hell. Only the Mariners can take a 3-0 lead in the first inning off a Ichiro homer, then never lead again for the rest of the game. Luke French and new reliever Ian Snell gave up four runs to St. Louis in only six innings of work. Adam Wainwright picked up his ninth victory of the season.

  1. Mark Grant was WAY too excited about that earthquake.
