The Roundup 3/8/2010

Don't Piss Off Presbyterian Fans
Remember that Presbyterian fan that was kicked out of the Dean Dome by UNC coach Roy Williams? Brian King was the Presbyterian fan that was kicked out of the building by Ole Roy. Well, King has emerged as a Cameron Crazy. The Duke fans reached out to King and he agreed to be a Cameron Crazy for Duke's game against UNC on Saturday. He yelled the same thing during Saturday's game, that got him kicked out of the game in Chapel Hill at the beginning of the year.

A Bold Prediction
We all know how bad the Pac-10 is this year. Cal won their first Pac-10 conference title in a very long time, but no one cares because the Pac-10 sucks this year. Well because the Pac-10 is having such a down year, it gave Oregon coach Ernie Kent the courage to predict the Ducks will be in the NCAA Tournament. This despite the fact that there are rumors that Oregon is close to firing Kent, something he won't comment about.

At the team's banquet, an emotional Kent predicted Oregon will win the Pac-10 tournament according to, The Register-Guard:
"There were a couple of other times when Kent had to pause to gather himself when he was speaking to the 200 people in attendance. He made no specific mention of his uncertain job status, but rather emphasized the fact he feels his team has “a lot more” basketball to play.

He predicted the Ducks will win the Pac-10 tournament, which would earn Oregon a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Beyond that, Oregon officials confirmed that paperwork has been submitted to the NIT with the intent of receiving an invitation."
Oregon has to get through Washington State to even face top-seeded Cal in the tournament. So it will be a tough task for Oregon and Kent to win the tournament. I expect Kent to be fired after the end of the Pac-10 Tournament.

Bobby Gonzalez Is Crazy
Seton Hall coach Bobby Gonzalez is one of the most interesting coaches in America. He's the only Big East coach who has been suspended by the conference for sideline misbehavior and criticizing officials. He even once got into a fight with one of his assistants. That's why this New York Times profile on Gonzalez is so fascinating. The story talks about Gonzalez's intensity, that borders on crazy. The story also talks about Gonzalez's efforts to recruit to Seton Hall, a small Catholic university in New Jersey. It's a fascinating profile that I do suggest reading.

Who?
It's been two days since Louisville upset top ranked Syracuse, and people are still amazed with Louisville player Kyle Kuric. Kuric came off the bench in the 2nd half for Louisville and scored 22 points in a barrage of dunks and three-point shots. It also happened to be the last game for Louisville in Freedom Hall so all the legends of Louisville's past were in the building. They were treated to quite the show from Kuric and Louisville who most likely punched their ticket to the NCAA tournament with that win.

Sorry for the text in the middle of the video. It was the best video I could find with Kuric and Saturday's game.
