College Football Open Thread: New Year's Day

Because of a last minute change of plans, there will not be a live blog. I do though, plan on live blogging the national championship game. Instead I'm posting an open thread for all of the New Year's bowl games. You can even comment on college basketball games or the Winter Classic. So leave comments, enjoy the day, and don't be a troll.

Konica Minolta Gator Bowl
: Florida State vs. West Virginia 1:00 (CBS - Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson, SR: Tracy Wolfson)

Capital One Bowl
: LSU vs. Penn State 1:00 (ABC - Brad Nessler and Todd Blackledge, SR: Erin Andrews)

  1. Lee Corso just tried to reach out and shake the hand of Jake Olson. Remember him? He was the USC fan kid who is blind and for some reason is now joining the Gameday crew as their guest picker.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Oof........good thing I didn't do a live blog today. I'm sort of hungover.

    ReplyDelete
  3. @JFein: I did see where Corso tried to shake Jake Olson's hand. Fowler thankfully saved face.

    ReplyDelete
  4. @JFein I think the reason Olson was the guest picker is pretty obvious because of his story and the close proximity of LA and Pasadena. Corso was trying to be a good guy, it came out a little awkward since Fowler was between Jake and Corso.

It really was a great segment. Jake gave lots of stats and analysis during his picks. The guys were really impressed. Usually the guest picker just goes through the motions and it's boring until Corso puts on the headgear. Today was fun.

  5. NBC on the air w/ pregame coverage of the Winter Classic in Boston. Prepare for no earlier than a 1:30 faceoff.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Bob Costas joking that 6'9" Zdeno Chara will be the first to know if it rains or snows.

    ReplyDelete
  7. i said it before...Fenway's a dump

    ReplyDelete
  8. agreed Keith agreed

    /beware the Red Sox borg

    ReplyDelete
  9. @49er16 I think the view is okay unless you're in an obstructed seat. Football is awful too. I went to the Deadskins/Cowboys game in Week 16 2007 (clinched playoff spot w/ win) and my family got me seats where all I saw was a roof!

They were so scared I would get wet and cold from the rain that I couldn't see the field looking straight. I had to bend down to see under the overhang of the seats above us.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I guess I'll be the NBC/hockey shill then. People only care about the hockey game because it's outside and it's Fenway Park! Costas has to explain the historical context.

    ReplyDelete
  11. @Al: I understand the historic standpoint of this game and the venue, but I don't need it shoved down my throat.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Bobby Orr looks damn good for his age.

    ReplyDelete
  13. @Al

    LOL about Arenas.

and I don't recall Costas doing the history of the Buffalo Bills a couple years ago

    ReplyDelete
  14. @kt1000

I really don't know what to say about Arenas or the Wizards anymore. Awful! 10-20 and our star player has unloaded guns in his locker and Shaq is allegedly cheating on his fiance.

"This is not good, folks..." /Duane Kuiper'd

BTW, I'm putting up with the Fenway/Red Sox junk only today if it means baseball fans watch hockey and then become a fan.

    ReplyDelete
  15. "We've got an NFL doubleheader tomorrow" Verne

someone tell him its Friday, not Saturday

    ReplyDelete
  16. @kt1000: Okay, Verne has entered the "Keith Jackson-Too Old Zone"

    ReplyDelete
  17. Wow! The B-2 flies straight through the light standards. Game on at Fenway!

    ReplyDelete
  18. someone tell Mike Emrick the fans aren't standing because they're excited, its because they won't see if they sit down

and i'm flipping to FSU because i refuse to watch State Penn...

    ReplyDelete
  19. @kt1000

I was ten minutes off on the start.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Lots of hitting early on in Boston but scoreless.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Emrick is way too hyper...

    Free Gary Thorne

    ReplyDelete
  22. The Goodyear blimp is surprisingly effective for this event.

    ReplyDelete
  23. The field for the Penn State-LSU game is a disgrace. It's been raining and the field before the game even started looked like a war zone with huge divots.

    ReplyDelete
  24. of course Florida State looks incredibly incompetent

"I think Florida State rushed its decision" Gary

    no.

    ReplyDelete
  25. @Keith they did just play a game there Tuesday night

    ReplyDelete
  26. Deion just compared Bobby Bowden to Gandhi.

please excuse me as I barf up the rest of last night's whiskey

    ReplyDelete
  27. Nessler is apologizing for the field as we speak. Says they replace the sod with field turf next year. A little too late for that.

    /Erin Andrews Sighting!

    ReplyDelete
  28. @kt1000

If Emrick is hyper then what does that make Thorne...seriously, Gary yelled alot during hockey games.

I think Hughson and Cuthbert are the best of conveying emotion and not overdoing it. I love lisetning to Doc but I even admit he sometimes gets a little excited.

    ReplyDelete
  29. @Kris: Wow Deion!

I also see WVU is beating the shit out of FSU already.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Which is worse? Field at the Capital One Bowl or field during Miami-Pittsburgh MNF game a couple years back?

    GO FLYERS!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Figures that thug Carcillo would get in the first fight.

    ReplyDelete
  32. FIGHT! Thornton for BOS and Carcillo for PHI.

    ReplyDelete
  33. DAN CARCILLO JUST WON THE FIRST FIGHT IN THE 3-YEAR HISTORY OF THE WINTER CLASSIC!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. can't wait to see the Team USA roster that finishes 5th in the Olympics

    ReplyDelete
  35. @ 49er16: If there is one thing that us Flyers fans love, it's "thug" hockey players.

They just irritate me when they get stupid penalties. But winning a fight in the Winter Classic is AWESOME!

Gotta go. Talk to y'all later tonight maybe.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Carcillo got the win w/ the right hand. Olzcyk also notes the fans are standing...insert your joke.

    ReplyDelete
  37. This is my favorite Carcillo moment.

  38. 0-0 at intermission

BRB, I have to pay my rent.

    ReplyDelete
  39. now that Emrick has settled into the game, i withdraw my earlier comment

i still think Gary Thorne should be announcing the NHL somewhere though

Florida State's D juts cannot stop West by god Virginia

    ReplyDelete
  40. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  41. 14-13 West Virginia

    Halftime

Northwestern has the ball at AUB 40 with :49 to go

    ReplyDelete
  42. NW will have a 43 yd FG to win...

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm back after I had to do some chores. Tim Thomas, WHAT ARE YOU DOING????? He shoves Hartnell for no reason and loses track of Sveret(sp?) shot, 1-0 Flyers.

    ReplyDelete
  44. And about the Outback Bowl overtime...NOBODY CARES!!!!!! /Gary Radnich'd

    ReplyDelete
  45. @AL: Now you just dropped a Radnich line? What's with your obsession with SF announcers?

    ReplyDelete
  46. @Al

i'm sorry but i'm sick of the NBC announcers making tortured baseball analogies. just call the damn game

    ReplyDelete
  47. Giroux just missed on a breakway, Thomas may have gotten a piece!

    ReplyDelete
  48. i'd like to make some Franz Kafka jokes, but i'm afraid no one would get them

    ReplyDelete
  49. @49er16 Radnich is funny as hell. I like his sayings.

@kt1000 I understand the game is the big story but your bitterness toward Fenway and the Red Sox is REALLY showing up. I hate them too but you know any U.S. hockey announcers would work the baseball park angle.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Flyers blow a power-play chance, still 1-0.

    ReplyDelete
  51. What an appropiate ending to the Outback bowl.

    ReplyDelete
  52. that was not a fumble...

part of the problem Al is that you have 2 offensively challenged teams playing

    ReplyDelete
  53. Roughing the Kicker! Unbelievable!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I can't believe the ending to this game. Northwestern has been given several breaks in this game.

    ReplyDelete
  55. The game ends on a Fake FG

    Just WOW

    ReplyDelete
  56. LOL, Northwestern loses on a fake play. An truly unbelievable game to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  57. @kt1000 Yes they don't scre alot but the game is close and mostly well-played .

BTW, what was worse on the last play of the Outback Bowl, the awful camera angle or the play call?

    ReplyDelete
  58. @Al: The camera angle on that last play was purely awful.

I like to forget about that game.

    ReplyDelete
  59. The Outback Bowl has left me speechless.

    ReplyDelete
  60. great, great football game

and i liked the Fake FG call..You Play to Win the Game!

    /Herm'd

@Al give me Caps/Pens at Heinz Field anytime

    ReplyDelete
  61. Flyers 2 on 1 and the pass blocked by the Bruins defense at the end of the 2nd period. 1-0 Flyers. Darren Pang just interviewed Zdeno Chara, and back in the 1st period Chris Pronger. Talk about your size mismatches!

    ReplyDelete
  62. For the record, the Outback Bowl WAS NOT a great football game. It was a game played by a.) two teams who are extremely mediocre, b.) allergic to playing defense, c.) don't know how to close out wins, and d.) it was a freaking exhibition game!

Auburn gained no national chammpionnship from the bowl victory. Yes, I'm a party-pooper

    ReplyDelete
  63. Sturm shoots one from center ice...off Leighton and then off the post! Bruins nearly score shorthanded.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Bruins power play, Carcillo hooking for PHI.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Flyers killed off the penalty, lead 1-0 w/ 12:00 left.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I hope this game doesn't end up being a 1-0 shutout.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Ten minutes left in regulation at Fenway Park.

    ReplyDelete
  68. @49er16 Who the hell cares if it's 1-0 (outside of Thomas who screwed up)?

    ReplyDelete
  69. Now this Sweet Caroline thing w/ Denis Leary and Lenny Clarke...that's stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Blackhawks/Red Wings on Jan. 17th will be the first indoor game on NBC.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Under 6 min. left, Bruins had a good surge in the first 10 minutes of the period but Flyers have settled down.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Ryder stopped, Flyers penalty. Timonen trips down Chara. Bruins PP.

    ReplyDelete
  73. SCORE!!!! BRUINS TIE IT!!! MARK RECCHI TIPS THE DEREK MORRIS SHOT!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Savard tripped behind the net. Flyers penalty, Bruins PP.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Two things, before the goal Chara nailed Hartnell in front of the net which could've been called. Then, a Flyer had the puck covered for a long time at the end of the 3rd.

    ReplyDelete
  76. BOSTON WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    What a great OT period.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Flyers do everything but score after the penalty...Boston scores! They win 2-1!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Flyers suck, just like JFein does. Happy New Year all! Here's to a great 2010 and new decade!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Marco Sturm tipped home Patrice Bergeron's pass. I haven't seen a replay of the Bruins line change as Edzo said Boston may have gotten away w/ too many men on the ice.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Dick Clark was just traffic to listen to during the special last night. He messed up the countdown. I know he had a stroke and all but it's time to retire.

LSU just about to lose the game.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Way to make your presence known, Chuck in Jersey.

    ReplyDelete
  82. @SSR: Yeah Clark was terrible. He messed up the countdown and just needs to retire.

    ReplyDelete
  83. LSU about to lose. Think Les Miles is gone?

    ReplyDelete
  84. Rose Bowl predictions, guys? I think in a defensive struggle, OSU wins 13-10. Bowden victorious in his final game.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Yes! Joe Pavelski is on the US Olympic team.

@Chuck: No I don't think Miles is gone. And yes I think the Rose Bowl will be closer than people think, but Oregon will win.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Any word on if Verne will be doing NCAA b-ball tomorrow?

    ReplyDelete
  87. FSU is about to send Bobby Bowden into a retirement w/ a victory.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Oregon will destroy Ohio State.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I'm glad I chose FSU in my bowl pick em.

    ReplyDelete
  90. @Chuck Verne is scheduled to do the Louisville/UK game w/ Clark Kellogg.

    ReplyDelete
  91. @ Al: any word on who is doing the other games on CBS tomorrow?

    ReplyDelete
  92. This is the only way LSU can possibly lose.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Criqui/Raftery for Gonz/Ill and Dedes/Anthony for Ariz/UCLA via CBS Press Express.

Tracy Wolfson's mic goes out at the worst time. Bowden interview has to wait.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Still big mic problems but at least we can hear Bobby.

    ReplyDelete
  95. That Orlando field sucked today. They should be ashamed of it.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Does anybody know if JFein will be making an appearance today at some point?

    ReplyDelete
  97. I think Oregon will beat Ohio St. in the Rose, I'll be back for the Tebow lovefest...ur...Sugar Bowl.

    ReplyDelete
  98. JFein might not be around till a little later. You get out of line though Chuck and will have to delete your comments. This blog isn't for personnel attacks on other people.

If you want to shit talk about sports fine, but personnel attacks won't be tolerated.

    ReplyDelete
  99. No worries, I'm here for the sports, don't have a score to settle with JFein.

Finally a microphone that works for CBS.

@Keith: Did you mean PERSONAL attacks?

    ReplyDelete
  100. Trophy presentation and another try at a good mic in the Bowden interview, third time a charm?

    ReplyDelete
  101. @Chuck: Good, and yes I meant Personal attacks.

    /still nursing a hangover

    ReplyDelete
  102. This isn't the first time your spelling has been miserable. Dictionary.com is a decent site; you should check it out sometime.

    //Learn to spell

@Keith: Your official score prediction for the Rose?

    ReplyDelete
  103. @Chuck Don't feel bad. I was ripping kt1000 earlier for complaining about the hockey game, NBC announcers cause he's an Orioles/Caps fan who hates the Flyers and anything Fenway Park/Red Sox.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Chuck, one of these days Keith will spell morning correctly. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  105. @Keith: What were you drinking last night?

I'm gonna run for a bit.....will be back by the second half of the Rose.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I'm getting better ;-)

I was drinking crown and coke last night.

    ReplyDelete
  107. BTW, that field in the Capital One Bowl was terrible! I know it rained but can you say FieldTurf? Les Miles and Gary Crowton (off. coordinator) are on the hot seat.

    ReplyDelete
  108. This is going to be hard for me to root for Oregon. I hate that state, team and the fact that Nike basically owns that school.

    ReplyDelete
  109. What is this? I've watched five minutes of an Ohio State game and was entertained?

    I like 2010 already.

    ReplyDelete
  110. D-Clark did not blow it. I am amazed.

Thank you Les Miles for once again proving that you and Jordan Jefferson suck at clock management.

    WE ARE!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Your back early JFein. I thought you wouldn't be around until later in the day.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Ah, I see I suck because I'm a Flyers fan.......

    ReplyDelete
  113. Same here. Then again, that is what happens when you visit your grandparents who like to eat dinner at 3:30 PM....

    ReplyDelete
  114. Oh, sounds like my grandparents. Then they are in bed by 6PM and up by 5PM no matter what the day is.

    ReplyDelete
  115. sorry to see the Flyers lost that Red Sox infomercial, er hockey game

    ReplyDelete
  116. I absolutely despise Ohio State but a part of me actually wants them to win this Rose Bowl for the sake of the Big Ten not getting humiliated yet again in a big game.

And I curse Northwestern for ruining the Big Ten's chances at a perfect bowl record....

    ReplyDelete
  117. I want Ohio State to win because quite frankly, I despise everything about Oregon.

    ReplyDelete
  118. @ kt1000: Yeah it sucked. Especially seeing the Bottom Line at 1-0 with 5:00 left in the game or so and then see Flyers 1, Bruins 2 F/OT (at least we got one point out of it). I wanted to watch it and would have watched it (I did see the 1st period before leaving) but my grandfather is a big Penn State watcher and refused to turn off that Crapital One Bowl.

    ReplyDelete
  119. @JFein from what I saw at a bar(after trying to play some football) was that the Flyers got hosed.

    ReplyDelete
  120. If it isn't JFein........how's it going?

    ReplyDelete
  121. Yeah, I'm not exactly crazy about Oregon football.

And am I the only one shocked at the fact that Todd McShay has Daryll Clark has the #6 QB in this year's draft? People say he is real good (my grandfather likes him) but whenever I see him I see a horrible QB who constantly makes bad decisions....

    ReplyDelete
  122. So apparently I suck, eh, Chuck?

I'm sure you were quite amused by the Flyers choke job today........

    ReplyDelete
  123. @ JFein: It was pretty amusing. At least you've got the Eagles (and a 2008 baseball World Championship). How did you ring in the New Year? Why don't you still do the weekly NFL prediction video postings?

    ReplyDelete
  124. "To say it bluntly, he's a load." - Brent Musburger after LeGarrette Blount scored a TD.

    Oh Brent.....

    ReplyDelete
  125. "To say it Blountly, he's a load."-Brent

    Shoot me now.

@Justin: Remember it's been a year since Nathan Brice took over the Awful Announcing Rose Bowl thread? I remember leaving that thread because he was driving me nuts.

    ReplyDelete
  126. if you say Nathan Brice 3 times does he appear like Beetlejuice

    ReplyDelete
  127. @ Chuck: I will feel a whole heck of a lot better about the Eagles if they can beat Dallas and get that 1st round bye.

I did DVR that game and I may watch the last 2 periods later on tonight after the football games; I am reading that despite losing, they played well for the most part which is an encouraging sign.

Re: the YouTube predictions: I got lazy and doing YouTube videos with a webcam is a pain in the butt because YouTube always cuts it a minute or so short. My college work started piling up and believe it or not, those videos take awhile to make. Having set up a few podcasts as well, I can tell you that is also a pain in the neck.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Does somebody have to ruin every blog?

    ReplyDelete
  129. @ Chuck: Sadly, yes.

Please tell me 49er16 is here to delete him....

    ReplyDelete
  130. I just revisited that AA thread from last year..........talk about people with no life. And no clue.

    /Nathan Brice'd

    ReplyDelete
  131. "Trying to bang his way for the first down." - Brent Musburger

    ReplyDelete
  132. Can you post the link to that referenced Rose Bowl blog from last year?

    ReplyDelete
  133. Ohio State will need to do more than just settle for field goals in order to win this game.

    ReplyDelete
  134. @JFein I saw the Winter Classic start to finish. I think the Flyers got hosed a little bit and also got what they deserved at the end. The Timonen and Briere penalties were obvious trips of Bruins players behind the net.

Before the Bruins tying goal, Chara knocked Hartnell down in the crease. Howver, at the end of regulation a Flyer player had the puck underneath for a good 10 seconds which should be delay of game. On the winning goal, Edzo thought the Bruins cheated the line change and had too many men but NBC didn't show a wider angle.

It was a normal game officiated by Kerry Fraser and Chris Rooney, terribly inconsistent. Flyers got a point which puts them 8th in the East.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Not only is the team in Tampa not the Rowdies or Mutiny, but they don't even exsist anymore, Brent!

    ReplyDelete
  136. Yeah, here is the Nathan Brice, er, New Year's Day Bowl Games Open Thread at AA from last year.

    http://awfulannouncing.blogspot.com/2009/01/new-years-day-bowl-games-open-thread.html

    ReplyDelete
  137. BTW, ESPN spent 2 minutes of highlights on the hockey game on a 30-minute sportscenter. No Melrose or Levy at all, not even from Boston where they alledgly were. Pathetic.

    ReplyDelete
  138. @Al it was no different than any other game played at Fenway Park...

    /bitter Orioles fan'd

    ReplyDelete
  139. An on-screen keyboard? Sorry. I've never used one of those in my life...

/Waits for laughter about how he needs to wake up to the 21st century

    ReplyDelete
  140. I can only use some keys and can never use the space key.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Wow, a Masoli INT and the Buckeyes might score again before the break. As much as I hate that it has to be Ohio State, it is refreshing to see a recent Big 10-PAC 10 Rose Bowl that is not a blowout at halftime.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Holy crap! He can kick a 63-yarder????

    ReplyDelete
  143. I need help with the keyboard. Anyone know to fix this?

    ReplyDelete
  144. As a kid, my aunt was on the same softball team as Lisa Salters and my mom knew her as well.

Supposedly she was very fast back then.....

    ReplyDelete
  145. @kt1000 Yeah, I understand that sentiment. Can you give it up though until baseball season starts? Bruins are much more likable than the Red Sox. /Extreme hockey fan'd

    ReplyDelete
  146. I've never used an online keyboard before, but did you try resetting the keyboard and/or your computer? That frequently works for me when something of modern technology is not working. Aside from that and trying to access the help menu, there is not much I can tell you.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Is that the Back to the Future theme that was played by Oregon a while back or am I nuts?

    ReplyDelete
  148. I was not paying much attention, to be honest.

    ReplyDelete
  149. It doesn't matter, what matters is how long this halftime is taking.

    ReplyDelete
  150. @Al

yes, it was the Back to the Future theme the University of Nike...i mean Oregon band played

and imagine if the Stars played the Winter Classic at Jerryworld and you got Cowboys shoved down your throat for 3 hours, i take it you'd be understanding about it as well?
anyway, that's the last i'm going to mention it.

    ReplyDelete
  151. @ Al: That's why I was not paying attention. College halftimes are too long that I just have it on in the background and turn my attention to other things.

    Oh, it's back.

    ReplyDelete
  152. @ kt: We will see a Winter Classic in JerryWorld before it's all over. Jerry Jones is the exact opposite of Dan Snyder. The Plastic Man makes sure that every event possible is at his stadium whereas Snyder makes sure that no other event besides his precious Redskins is at FedEx Field. And yet, both are equally awful.

    ReplyDelete
  153. @kt1000

Well if you put it that way w/ the Cowboys shoved down my throat during a hockey game. I get it. Hockey is my favorite sport so I get pretty defensive when a special game gets ripped for some reason. At this point, all we'll hear about now during hockey games is hockey things only.

    ReplyDelete
  154. @JFein i agree completely with you there'll be a Winter Classic at Jerryworld one day. but, to be fair to the Deadskins, Indiana will be playing State Penn there next year. There will also be a Va Tech/Boise St game at FedEx as well.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Did anyone notice Bobby Bowden got to throw Chief Osceola's arrow down today before FSU's game? Awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  156. @Al i agree it was a great game in a special place. i guess i disagree with how it was covered

    1st and Goal Ducks

    ReplyDelete
  157. Indiana/Penn St.- Great, I watch one crappy team played there 8 times a year and we get Indiana in the fall. Who came up w/ that idea?

    ReplyDelete
  158. @Al

the same Indiana AD who hired Kelvin Sampson?

    Ducks lead

    ReplyDelete
  159. This sucks. I don't know what to do? I'll your comment but don't epect much from me.

@Justin: how do you reset the keyboard?

    ReplyDelete
  160. Aspeaking of ESPN graphics, am I the only one that does not like their new graphic scoreboard at all?

The one they had for the season was many times better.

    ReplyDelete
  161. @kt1000

This will end my thoughts on the winter classic but I was talking about the game and its surroundings. You were right, the TV coverage was bad, NBC didn't need to stuff the baseball down our throats for 3.5 hours.

We've met a medium and Levy/Melrose are in Boston they did a bump to commercial on SC. Now to football.

    ReplyDelete
  162. @ 49er16: I don't know. I just figured that something virtual like that would have a reset option or something.

You don't have a non-virtual keyboard for your computer?

    ReplyDelete
  163. Keith,

that sux man. sorry i have no idea how to help you out

    ReplyDelete
  164. for some reason the on-screen one works. but the actual physical one only certain keys work.

    ReplyDelete
  165. @JFein The scroeboard looks 2010 if that makes sense. The old one was good but looks ancient. Same thing for CBS's NFL (new) and College (old) game scoreboard, not the constant ticker.

  166. is it just me or is Brent making the leap into Verne/Dick S/Dick E territory? he's been off today

  167. Prior missed a open receiver because he threw it quick, FG though gives OSU the lead.

  168. @ kt: It's not just you. On the play where the tOSU receiver was flipped (I forget who it was), Brent called it caught and did not realize it was incomplete or that the ball was even on the ground until 5 or 10 seconds after it visibly hit.

  169. where was Pryor throwing that pass?

  170. It truly is amazing the contrast in the field conditions from the Crapital One Bowl to the Rose Bowl. The Rose Bowl is always immaculate. The Florida Citrus Bowl needs to be destroyed now.

  171. I'm out guys. I'll keep reading your comments though. I'll have to take the computer to the geek squad.

@Justin: will you create a thread for the games until i get this fixed?

  172. @ kt1000 and Al: Are any of you in the Salisbury, MD or Norfolk and Richmond, VA markets or get their Fox affiliates? If so, congratulations, you have been flexed from a useless Deadskins/Chargers game to Eagles-Cowboys!

  173. I haven't listened enough this year to honestly say if he's losing it. Enberg (only really good on slow-paced tennis), Stockton, and Lundquist are at the end.

  174. @ 49er16: This one is fine for now.....if trolls start showing up then I'll create a new one here and delete their comments there.

And Tahiti. And It's morning in Japan.

  176. @JFein

please don't mock me with such comments. as it is, i'm reduced to hoping the Skins play like their bus is double parked.

Don't judge the Rose Bowl field until next Thursday. the Citrus Bowl did try to play 2 games in 72 hours on that field

  177. @Justin: I can still delete comments. it's just a pain in the ass to type.

i just need a thread for tomorrw until i get this fixed.

    ReplyDelete
  178. @ 49er16: Oh, you meant for tomorrow. No problem, I can do that.

Good luck with the Geek Squad!

    ReplyDelete
  179. @ kt: Well it is not getting eaten up like the Citrus Bowl was in the Champs Sports Bowl, so we've already got some improvement already!

I love the Rose Bowl field. There is just something about it that makes it so pretty and fun to watch.

  184. Big 25-yard pass, Prior to Ballard. He went up high to catch that one.

@JFein I'm in Silver Spring, MD and my FOX comes from Washington D.C. so I'm stuck w/ the Deadskins.

    Cue the TPIR losing horns.
