Well we have two more weekends of college football. This is also the weekend where rivalries meet up with each other and play the family feud. Florida vs. Florida State, Clemson vs. South Carolina, and Georgia vs. Georgia Tech all play today. Enjoy the rivalries and leave comments. I will try and update this thread as often as possible.
Here's the Announcing Schedule.
-Say what you want about USC, you have to admit this story is inspirational. USC fan Jake Olson, who lost his eyesight to cancer, has become an inspirational figure for the USC football team.
- Well the Gameday crew was in Gainesville today for the Florida-Florida State game. I think everyone knows that Corso attended Florida State. So he dressed up for the part.
- Then Corso put on the Gator mascot head when making his predictions.
- For anyone who didn't see this news, Louisville has fired football coach Steve Kragthorpe. Kragthorpe of course replaced Bobby Petrino at Louisville after Petrino left for the Atlanta Falcons job. Kragthorpe couldn't continue the success that Petrino found at Louisville in his three seasons there.
- If the Tim Tebow circle jerk couldn't get worse, CBS's Tracy Wolfson wore some of Tebow's magical eye black with a Bible verse written on it.
C.J. Spiller just returned the Kickoff for a touchdown for Clemson vs. South Carolina.
ReplyDeletesomewhere Mookie is demanding the Seahwaks draft that guy...
ReplyDeleteFinally Allen Iverson and the Sixers are waking up.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/11838893/18581096
Good news, kt: Roethlisberger's been ruled out for Sunday Night's game! If the Ravens can't beat Dennis Dixon with his likely back up being Jeff Garcia, then I don't know what to tell you.
I'm going to watch the Oklahoma-Oklahoma State game. Boise State needs Oklahoma to win that game.
ReplyDeleteSomeone reported last night that the Fiesta Bowl would consider Boise State-Oklahoma State.
ReplyDeleteTouchdown Holy Cross. They've just tied Villanova in a playoff game 14-14.
I'm still rooting for Oklahoma to beat OK State. Can't leave any room for error, that could lead to BSU looking from the outside.
ReplyDeleteNow Oklahoma fumbles in the red zone and OK State recovers.
ReplyDeleteNow OK State fumbles and Oklahoma recovers! I swear every other play has been a fumble in this game.
ReplyDelete@Jay: This game already has a weird feel to it.
ReplyDelete@49er16: Agreed. There has been turnovers, shitloads of penalties, and punts in this game. And no score.
ReplyDeleteAnother fumble in the Okla-OK State game. Very weird game.
ReplyDeleteThere has been so many fumbles and booth reviews in the Okla-OK State game, that the 1st quarter has almost taken a full hour to play.
ReplyDeleteI see I did not miss much.
ReplyDeleteGood grief, Toston lost the ball on that play. Lucky for him he was able to recover.
@JFein: Grambling and Southern play today on NBC. If you've never seen their bands preform, then I suggest watching halftime of that game.
ReplyDeleteTouchdown Oklahoma!!!
ReplyDeleteThe TD is being reviewed and it will likely be brought back to the 1-yard line or so.
ReplyDeleteIt's good and OU takes a 10-0 lead. Good, Boise State needs OU to win this game.
ReplyDeleteThey rule it a TD.
ReplyDeletePAT is barely squeezed in there. 10-0 Sooners.
I see Baltimore is interested in oft-injured pitcher Ben Sheets. I wonder how KT feels about this?
ReplyDelete@Everybody!
ReplyDeletePaul McGuire is calling the Grambling-Southern game with Tom Hammond!
Paul Mcguire???
ReplyDeletePass.
@JFein: Haha!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering though the other day what happened to him.
He's calling one game a year on NBC.......that's what I call a broadcaster who is no longer relevant. Then again, I don't think Paul McGuire has ever contributed anything relevant to football.
ReplyDeleteYour right, Justin. It's pretty pathetic when the one a year you call is the Grambling-Southern game.
ReplyDeletehey, Paul McGuire did UFL for Cubes on HD Net..
ReplyDeleteand yes, JFein, if the Ravens can't beat the Steelers w/out Big Ben and Polamalu, then they should just tank the rest of the season
can you believe i'm actually enjoying watching Wake Forest play Duke and it's not basketball?
ReplyDelete38-28 Nova in the 4th quarter!
ReplyDeleteFinally these awful Holy Cross radio announcers tell us that there is 7:46 to go in that game.
ReplyDeletecrazy play in the Duke game..guy dove at the end zone and touched the ball on the pylon before going out of bounds...
ReplyDeletei think they're going to overturn the TD and rule Duke down inside the 1
Holy Cross turns the ball over on downs with 5:43 to go!
ReplyDelete"It was a well executed play except for the results." - Holy Cross radio analyst
TD Duke
ReplyDeleteand i believe Duke had more fans at MSG last night than are at Duke's football stadium watching this game
Nova is going to the FCS National Quarterfinals!
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile S. Carolina is handing it to Clemson.
Mmmm....Mexican style nachos are great on a cold day.
ReplyDeleteNC State beats UNC.
ReplyDelete@ 49er16: Yum. I'm jealous.
ReplyDeleteDoc "what was the last bowl game you played in?"
ReplyDeleteTim Brant: "well, i played in the Turkey Bowl Thursday with my family with my cousins and brothers"
Oklahaoma 13, Okie St. 0
ReplyDeleteGood ole Houston Nutt is losing to a team that he shouldn't lose to. Miss State is most likely going to beat Ole Miss.
ReplyDeleteNow OU picks off OK State and are already in the OK State red zone.
ReplyDeleteAnd just like that, OU scores.
ReplyDelete20-0 OU over OK State
Boston College.
ReplyDeleteMaryland.
only 1 will survive.
only on ESPNU!
@KT: LOL, I was going to make some smart ass comment about that game when is came on.
ReplyDeleteVerne Lundquist just grew a few inches....
ReplyDelete@JFein: I'm avoiding that game like the plague. I will only watch it with the mute on.
ReplyDelete@JFein i assume you mean wider
ReplyDelete@Keith i believe this is MD's 6th ESPNU apperance...i mean that's gotta be a selling point for recruits, right?
This hard on is sickening.
ReplyDeleteI'm blindly hoping that Florida State pulls the upset and breaks the hearts of every one in Gainesville.
ReplyDelete@JFein: That's why I'm avoiding that game.
ReplyDeleteAlso the Grambling-Southern game is almost to halftime. I do suggest watching that halftime because of the bands.
the Fiesta Bowl can't take OK State after this performance and have any credibility, right?
ReplyDeleteAgreed, kt. Not even crazy BCS would take a 3-loss team when there are others to choose from such as unbeaten Boise, right?
ReplyDelete@Kris: No way. Also I think the BCS bowls are going to have to accept a Boise State.
ReplyDeleteas soon as i say that, OK St blocks the FG attempt
ReplyDeleteOk, the greatest halftime show ever is about ready to go underway.
ReplyDeletei agree with you guys, but i can also see a USC worming their way back into the top 14 and getting picked
ReplyDeletei'm going to enjoy this now, because MD is leading 3-0
Here we go. Southern is going first.
ReplyDeleteThe Battle of the Bands always brings a smile to my face. Just incredible performances.
ReplyDeleteSt. Timmy of Gainesville has given his benediction to the masses...and i'm better for it
ReplyDeleteand here go the Gators...
ReplyDeleteit really is a shame Ponder can't play for Free Shoes U today
Oklahoma State will not be going to the Fiesta Bowl.
ReplyDeleteTouchdown Florida. Verne and Gary will be admitted into a hospital after this game.
yep. BC now leads 7-3 and somehow, we get a University of Toledo ad during this game
ReplyDeleteI know you guys don't like Notre Dame and neither do I, but I want them to beat Stanfurd today.
ReplyDeleteI refuse to watch the Florida-Florida State game. Florida is going to thrash them in that game.
ReplyDeleteBC leads 10-3
ReplyDeletesorry Keith, but I hope Stanford destroys ND
Johns Hopkins, right down the street from my place, is into the D3 quarterfinals!
ReplyDelete@kt: I probably won't watch the ND-furd game. I will most likely watch the Georgia vs. Tech game.
ReplyDeleteyou know, it kills me that D-3, which has schools that are far tougher than places like Florida and Ohio State, somehow manage to run a 32 team nationwide tournament, but the FBS can't even get a 4 team tournament done.
ReplyDeleteI agree with wanting Stanford to destroy Notre Dame. Weis is gone either way, therefore, I want the thrashing to be as painful as possible and humiliating as possible. Those sanctimonious overrated frauds deserve it.
ReplyDeleteMay Gerhard have 300 yards.
@Keith i think ND-Ford is likely to be a lot closer game, than the battle of Georgia
ReplyDeleteOMG Maryland has tied this game at 10
ReplyDeleteFlorida State needs to start moving the ball and scoring otherwise the Gators will make it ugly both on the scoreboard and in Verne and Gary's pants. Aspeaking of Verne and Gary....
ReplyDelete"I only get to do this promo once a year." - Verne Lundquist on the Victoria Secret Fashion Show
"Is there only one Black Eyed Pea group? I've seen them everywhere." - Gary Danielson, pop culture buff extraordinaire.
How does Florida catch so many breaks? They caught another one today with Christian Ponder out with a shoulder injury.
ReplyDeleteFlorida's defense is too good for FSU.
ReplyDeleteGO BAMA!!!
JFein, you have to take a pic of you in your eye black and post it...
ReplyDelete"Look at me! I'm even paying tribute to Tim Tebow today!" - Tracy Wolfson who is wearing the eye black in honor of Tebow that every other Florida fan is wearing at the game.
ReplyDeleteI'll have it up in a jiffy, Kris....
ReplyDelete/sarcasm
Here's the latest Notre Dame coaching rumor. Tony Dungy the next Irish coach?
ReplyDeleteEverybody is cuming over Tebow when really it's the Florida defense that is the showstoppers this year.
ReplyDeleteTebow will be an NFL RB/TE/WR that will occasionally take Wildcat snaps. His NFL career won't be anything special.
Is it far-fetched to say that Brandon Spikes could be an NFL great?
Please not Dungy!!! I have way too much respect for Dungy for him for this to happen.
ReplyDeleteIf he signs with ND, I might be physically ill.
@JFein: As long as Spikes doesn't eye gouge somebody, then he could be an NFL great.
ReplyDeleteNot as good as Patrick Willis though ;-)
If FSU can't play offense, they can at least play defense. Apparently they can't even do that. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteReally? FSU has not beaten Florida the last 5 times?
c'mon JFein QB's always get the credit & attention, as well as the blame...
ReplyDeletebut I agree Spikes is a beast who'll get picked long before Tebow next spring
Tebow takes it in for the touchdown.
ReplyDeleteGO ALABAMA!!!
Besides, if Alabama wins next week, then we will likely get a reprise of Thom Brennaman gushing over Tim Tebow!!!
ReplyDeleteBrennaman is so over-the-top that the entertainment of the game comes from Brennaman gushing over Tebow, not the game itself.
BC regains the lead 13-10
ReplyDeleteTim Tebow has just surpassed Herschel Walker.
ReplyDeleteCould this get any worse?
FSU needs offense, stat!
Tim Tebow has just surpassed Herschel Walker.
ReplyDeleteCould this get any worse?
FSU needs offense, stat!
AFLAC Trivia question: Who coached FSU before Bowden?
ReplyDeleteOMGWTF WHY IS IT NOT ABOUT TEBOW!!!!!!!
of course, maybe you believe Mike Freeman that Urban Meyer is going to be heavily pursued by the Deadskins in the offseason
ReplyDeleteHerschel Walker though created that record in only three years at Georgia.
ReplyDelete@KT: Mike Freeman is also someone I avoid like the plague. I hate his writing.
ReplyDelete@Keith i agree with you completely, bet i felt like stirring things up...
ReplyDeleteof course if MD is going to fire Ralph and James, they better fire the OL coach too...the OL already got 1 QB KTFO for the season, so why not go for another?
Wwoing Urban Meyer to your school/team = useless.
ReplyDelete16-10 BC at halftime
ReplyDeleteRob Stone while the hi-lights showed Tebow running out of the tunnel: "Tebow couldn't have been the only one without wet ears in Gainesville"
ReplyDeleteASU just ran a commercial promoting their school with Obama speaking. I'm sure that commercial inspires a lot of people to want to attend ASU.
ReplyDelete@Keith that ASU commercial is especially cynical because they were the school who refused to award the President with an honorary doctorate.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't give Obama or any other President an honorary doctorate if they never attended my school. So I don't blame ASU for not giving Obama an honorary doctorate.
ReplyDeletegotta love the CBS montage of Tebow highlights as their SEC moment...i'm sure JFein's head has 'sploded
ReplyDelete@Keith i agree with you about honorary degrees. but to snub the guy and the use a part of his speech as part of your marketing campaign can't be anything but cynical.
ReplyDelete@KT: I will say it again, I'm avoiding that game like the plague.
ReplyDeleteWhich also got me thinking. I pretty sure next week everyone except Florida fans and Tebow worshipers will be rooting for Nick Saban next week.
@KT: I don't expect anything else from a school like Arizona State. A lot of scumbags attend and run that school.
ReplyDelete@Keith the SEC Championship is going to be great
ReplyDelete@KT: I don't think you were around when Justin and myself talked about this. But we are live blogging the games next week, because it's the last Saturday for college football of the year.
ReplyDeleteUh......the FSU right guard just went a whole play without getting up from his stance....
ReplyDelete@JFein: I was reading Dr. Saturday's tweets, and he was making fun of FSU for that.
ReplyDeleteTebow to Cooper for the touchdown.
ReplyDeleteMontana was losing to South Dakota State 34-14 at halftime in the FCS, but came back to win 61-48
ReplyDelete@Keith i'll be here for that live blog, but i'll probably be watching some of the UNC/Kentucky game instead of the Big Least de facto championship
ReplyDelete@Kris: That's fine. I will probably watch some of the Kentucky-UNC game as well.
ReplyDeletemissed BC field goal means the score stays 16-10 BC
ReplyDeleteCJ Spiller and Suh. Book it.
ReplyDeleteSEA! HAWKS!
If the Offsprey get Suh, then I'm rooting for another team besides the Niners.
ReplyDeleteSuh has been described as a mix of Bruce Smith and Reggie White. Scary stuff.
I'll be watching the Big East Championship while keeping an eye on a Villanova stream somewhere.
ReplyDeletePlus the Conference-USA championship is on then as well.
Aspeaking of Suh and Nebraska players, Zac Lee better be ready to go against Texas this Saturday. Otherwise Texas will do to them what Florida is currently doing Florida State.
ReplyDeleteKeith according to SteveR44 the announcers for Niners/Seahawks next week are....
ReplyDeleteWait for it.....
Keep waiting............
Chris Myers and Ross Tucker (who?).
Yeah we've hit bottom.
Ross Tucker is a columnist for SI. He used to play in the NFL until a neck injury forced him to retire. I've heard him on various radio shows and think he will be just fine calling an NFL game.
ReplyDeleteChris Myers on the other hand.......
Won't matter because the Seahawks will murder Alex Smith.
ReplyDeleteAaron Curry is licking his chops.
Ross Tucker is another analyst out of the Tim Ryan/Brian Baldinger school of lineman who become broadcasters...
ReplyDeletei heard him doing a game on the radio earlier this year
Things have sunk that low for the Seahawks and Niners??? Ross Tucker????
ReplyDeleteOy ve.
I'm not getting into that right now. I'm already tired of the NFL and just want baseball to start.
ReplyDeleteTebow!
ReplyDelete@Keith 128 days to Opening Day...
ReplyDeleteActually JFein because Thom and Mangina will be a part of the BCS Selection Show there will be a Barry Tompkins sighting for an NFL game.
ReplyDeleteDick Stockton will be paired with Brian Billick.
Maryland just got stuffed on 4th and 1
ReplyDeletewhy would Fox need Thom Brenneman on their BCS selection show? what expertise will he be bringing?
ReplyDelete@ kt....probably following Cincy or Ohio State's reaction as they make a BCS game.
ReplyDeleteand BC gets stuffed on 4th and 1!
ReplyDelete@SSR that's just crazy. i was thinking the Jim Nantz role during the basketball selection show, bitching about the big conference teams that get left out...
ReplyDeleteFinally! Some other games are starting to kickoff in the next hour. I'll be watching the Texas Tech-Baylor game until the Georgia-GA Tech game kicks off.
ReplyDeleteApple Cup to begin soon! HUSKIES!
ReplyDeletei really wish Ralph Friedgen would put Jamarr Robinson back in...i realize it's Chris Turner's last game, but the O has done nothing with him in the game
ReplyDeletei love when MASN plays their Nats commercial that features Alfonso Soriano. it eats up my Gnats loving friends everytime it gets run
ReplyDeleteLOL, Mookie
ReplyDeleteI think the only people able to watch that game are in the Northwest.
Maryland goes for it on 4th and 1 at their own 30 and are pushed back....this game is over
ReplyDeleteVirginia Tech fumbled the ball at the Virginia 15 and it rolled into the end zone....recovered by a Va. Tech player for a touchdown.
ReplyDeleteGoodbye Al Groh.
42 yd FG is up and good and BC now leads 19-10
ReplyDelete@SSR yup, and i think Mike London is going to replace Groh
ReplyDeleteArizona beating Arizona State only 17-10.
ReplyDeleteASU is going to have a chance to tie the game.
ReplyDeleteTorry Smith! Touchdown Maryland!
ReplyDelete19-17
whoever is doing this game keeps talking about Maryland getting to 3 wins like it's some kind of accomplishment
ReplyDeleteBC recovers the onside kick and that is that
ReplyDeleteTomorrow is Brian Russell's Texans debut.
ReplyDeleteBC wins 19-17
ReplyDeletethat is Maryland's first ever 10 loss season.
and i think Ralph Friedgen is done
Yep. The Cougars muff a punt and the Huskies idiotically try and pick it up instead of fall on it. Cougars ball still. Fire the special teams coach.
ReplyDeleteWow! ASU ties the game in spectacular fashion.
ReplyDeleteASU muffed a punt return and Arizona recovers in ASU territory and can kick a game-winning FG.
ReplyDeleteUNLV beat Louisville today in basketball. Rough couple of days in Louisville.
ReplyDeleteZona wins on a game-winning FG. Poor Kyle Williams. He goes from hero to goat.
ReplyDeleteRiesing just got tackled in the end zone for a safety...KU leads 39-38
ReplyDeleteIf Mangino doesn't get canned for pushing players, then he should get canned for that play-calling.
ReplyDeletesadly, i think you're right
ReplyDeletegood lord that was horrible tackling at the point of attack by Kansas
ReplyDeleteI think good ole Mangino signed his own death wish in this game.
ReplyDeleteWashington is beating Wash State 3-0. The Apple Cup is streaming on the internet if anyone cares?
ReplyDeletei agree Keith about Mangino...
ReplyDeleteand i think i'm going to pass on the Apple Cup...the Red Jesus is in action at the moment
And Missouri beats Kansas on a last second FG.
ReplyDeleteFIRE MANGINO NOW!
I'm going to eat dinner. I will be back for the Georgia-Tech game.
ReplyDeleteLOCKER TO KEARSE! TOUCHDOWN WASHINGTON! 10-0 Huskies.
ReplyDeleteWhoa. Sad yet creepy story.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.latimes.com/news/la-me-mike-penner29-2009nov29,0,3898738.story
@Mookie: I feel bad for Wazzu. Injuries have decimated this team for two years now. I think it's going to be a while before that team is ever good again.
ReplyDeletei'm guessing Brent is going with the Irish tonight...
ReplyDeleteI love how ABC sends Herbstreit/Musberger to be the preachers to Weis' funeral.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course there is nobody in Stanford stadium.
I cannot believe they sent Herbstreit to Stanford when Ga. Tech/GA was far better.
ReplyDeleteThen I realized this was ND.
@Mookie: Not only that, Herbstreit had to travel cross-country. He was in Gainesville this mourning.
ReplyDeletei guess i'm the only one who thinks that GA Tech is going to destroy the Bulldogs
ReplyDeleteSean McDonough calling the Georgia/Georgia Tech game.
ReplyDeleteCondi Rice was the honorary captain for furd this week. That worked really well last week with Tiger and furd.
ReplyDeleteSo much for that blowout, Kris. 7-0 Georgia
ReplyDeleteStanford just kicked a FG to make it 10-7....
ReplyDeleteit's still early Keith
Who would have thought it would be Georgia running all over the opposing defense?
ReplyDeletenice fumble Dawgs
ReplyDeleteNow Josh Nessbit is hurt. Not good for Tech.
ReplyDeleteJaybo Shaw is the new Tech QB. People sure do give their children weird names.
ReplyDeleteJaybo Shaw???
ReplyDeleteMy aunt married a man whose last name was Shaw, but Jaybo? Can't say I've ever heard that name before.
@JFein: You enjoy your dinner?
ReplyDeleteAlso turn on the Tech game to enjoy Jaybo.
And according to the506, that Barry Tompkins sighting will be accompanied by an Eddie George sighting!
ReplyDeleteThat will be a dreadful broadcast.
Haha, Furd
ReplyDeleteNotre Dame takes the lead over furd.
Very much so. We went to one of those Japanese Steakhouse where they cook the food in front of you; it's so good.
ReplyDeletemaybe GA should stick to the ground
ReplyDeleteThe Atlanta Thrashers are beating the Flyers 1-0 in the 3rd period.
ReplyDeleteJust for some historical significance, it's been 4 years since Atlanta beat the Flyers.
And they just cheap-shotted JVR. Ugh.
I just saw the Va Tech.-UVA score........Fire Al Groh.
ReplyDeleteBYU beats Utah in overtime on a 25-yard touchdown pass.
ReplyDeletenice Tigers hat Stafford
ReplyDelete14-13 ND over Stanford.
ReplyDeleteDon't think the usage of the nickname "'Furd" has gone in vain, I nearly typed that a few times instead of "Stanford" as I've been doing these comments. ;-)
It's okay if you type furd ;-)
ReplyDeleteNotre Dame is running all over furd. And it's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThere is something really wrong about Jimmy Football advertising during Flyers hockey games....
ReplyDeleteIf you want to see some hideout unis, check out LSU on ESPN.
ReplyDelete@JFein: I've already seen LSU's unis. And they are truly hideous.
ReplyDeleteGeorgia kicks a FG to make the score 10-3 Georgia
@ Keith: Send me the producers email for the live blog tomorrow. Now my dad might just drop me off at BU then leave in order to beat the traffic as it's supposed to be really bad tomorrow, so I might be around for part of the Eagles game after all.
ReplyDeleteI should definitely be around for the late games if not the Eagles.
@JFein: I didn't know we were doing a live blog tomorrow? I guess I can set one up.......
ReplyDeleteNow Georgia Tech throws an interception.
"I still don't think a lot of people have the FCS and FBS part figured out." - Sean McDonough after mentioning Division I-A
ReplyDelete"I've got the BS part figured out." - Matt Millen
I always thought we were.....
ReplyDeletei believe Brent just used the word "tough" 5 times in 2 sentences
ReplyDelete@JFein: I wasn't sure because of the Holliday weekend. I will set up the live blog though.
ReplyDeleteSounds good!
ReplyDeleteTOUCHDOWN GEORGIA!
Touchdown Georgia!
ReplyDeleteGood night GA Tech.
Flyers powerplay with 5:25 to go in the game.
ReplyDeletethe moral of the story: ACC football sucks
ReplyDeletewhat was I thinking?
