Foul Ball: Giants Beat Dodgers!

Foul Ball is your daily baseball recap

The Mariner-White Sox game was postponed due to rain. The two teams will play a doubleheader on April 28.

5 Giants 4 Dodgers: Even though my San Jose Sharks choked again in the playoffs, my San Francisco Giants beat the Dodgers. Not only did they beat the Dodgers but the Giants beat them by going small ball on them. In the eighth inning the Giants had two infield hits which would drive in the winning run. Brian Wilson redeemed himself by picking up the save. There was also an Barry Bonds sighting at the ballpark.

6 Rangers 4 Orioles: Michael Young's home run is just what the Rangers needed against the Orioles. The Rangers trailed 4-1 against the Orioles before Young's home run. Matt Albers gave up three runs in 2/3 innings, picking up the loss against the Rangers.

4 Tigers 2 Yankees: Justin Verlander pitched his finest game of the season so far. In the meantime the Tigers remain hot, and the Yankees continue to slide. Verlander pitched seven scorless innings and striking out nine. Magglio Ordonez hit a two run-home run off Yankees pitcher C.C. Sabathia. Sabathia's record goes to 1-2 for the season with an 4.73 ERA. Michigan St. head coach Tom Izzo threw out the first pitch of the game.

3 Cardinals 2 Braves: Two run scoring singles by Rick Ankiel would be all what the red hot Cardinals would need in their win against the Braves. Joel Pineiro continues his hot start with the Cardinals by pitching in 6 2/3 innings allowing two runs and no walks. Ryan Franklin picked up his sixth save of the season.

Worst of the Night:
The Yankees left seven men on base in their 4-2 loss to the Tigers.

The Braves hit into two double plays in their loss to the Cardinals.

The Marlins continue their suckiness. They lost 7-1 to the Mets to continue their losing streak to seven.

Kerry Wood blew his first save opportunity of the season. He gave up a game winning three-run home run to Boston's Jason Bay.

Baltimore pitcher Matt Albers gave up three runs in 2/3 innings, picking up the loss for the Orioles.

The Nationals scored 11 runs but gave up 13 to the Phillies.

Toronto pitcher David Purcey gave up six runs, three home runs in five innings in a loss to Kansas City.

Even though the Rays beat the Twins, they gave up a total of four stolen bases.

The Reds lost once again at their own ballpark. They are 3-6 at home.

The Dodgers hit three double plays in their loss to the Giants.

Gerald Laird Quote: The Tigers catcher had this gem about Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander,“When he’s ahead in the count, he’s almost unhittable.” That's what Tigers fans have been saying all season.

Lance Berkman Quote: Berkman always does well at the plate in Cincinnati. He has been slumping this season, until the Astros first game in Cincinnati. Here's his quote about his performances in Cincinnati, "It seems that even when I'm struggling, I start feeling better and I look up at the schedule and we have a trip in here. It's weird how that happens."

C.C. Sabathia Quote: Even though C.C. gave up a home run and four runs and picked up the loss against the Tigers, he felt like it was his best performance of the season. “I was attacking the zone and I was able to get swings early in the count,” he said. Yankees fans disagree.

Picture of the Night: Dreamy Mark Sanchez threw out the first pitch at the Mets game.

  2. In the spirit of Kid Rock throwing out the first pitch at Comerica a few weeks ago, Tom Izzo wore Joe C's autographed Tigers' hat last night.
