Video: Crazy High School Football Ending

Kentucky is known for a couple of things: Horse racing and bourbon. We can add a third item to the list: crazy high school football endings. In an ending reminiscent of Cal-Stanford, Butler High completed several laterals on a kickoff return with just a few seconds remaining returning the kickoff for a touchdown to defeat Pleasure Ridge Park High. Just like "The Play" from Cal-Stanford there was a controversial lateral completed during the play. The amazing part about this sequence is that Butler High had to complete a two-point conversion just to defeat PRP High.

This will be a night surely none of the players in the game will forget.

The Worst High School Football Play Ever?

Yahoo's sport blog Prep Rally seems to think so. I've seen some bad high school football. Hell my senior year we didn't win a single game. I've never seen anything like this though. Jim Marshall running the opposite way for the Vikings against the 49ers thinks this play disintegrated. No one is sure when or where this play took place, making this the Zapruder film of high school football. (Via Prep Rally)

I'm mad at myself for not catching this sooner. Especially since this happened by where I live. In a high school football game in Woodland, California, Pioneer High School ran "The play" to beat Woodland High School. Watch for yourself.



Talk about bad luck. Let's just say that one of these high schools is going to the playoffs, while the other finished the season 1-9.

Nepotism Starts Early

Today high school All-Americans convene to San Antonio to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

The game started in 2000 and was the high school football version to the McDonald's All-Star game.

This is the game of course where high school recruits stand in front of a table with three hats of schools they might attend. Then they tell the world what school they will be attending. And people wonder why athletes are so jaded.

It starts earlier and earlier. Kids who haven't graduated high school yet are told how great they are at what they do. They get their butts kissed by everyone including, parents, coaches, announcers, and writers.

This is why so many athletes today feel a certain entitlement. They are told early they can do no wrong because they can run fast or catch a ball. They are simple meal tickets for people around them.

So when you see an athlete arrested, remember they can't do no wrong, because they were told so.
