MLB LDS Day 2 Open Thread

Finally, we get to see some real baseball get played (aka the American League). Here are today's games and remember to leave comments!

NLDS Game 2 Pirates at Cardinals (MLBN: Bob Costas, Jim Kaat, Sam Ryan) In which we get to see how hard Bob Costas gets over postseason baseball in St. Louis.

ALDS Game 1 Rays at Red Sox 3:00 ET (TBS: Brian Anderson,Joe Simpson,John Smoltz, Rachel Nichols ) Any chance at all that this game takes less than 4 hours to play?

NLDS Game 2 Dodgers at Braves 6:07 ET (TBS: Ernie Johnson, Ron Darling, Cal Ripken, Jr., Craig Sager) I'm not prepared to live in a world where Don Mattingly is a World Series winning manager.

ALDS Game 1 Tigers at Athletics 9:37 ET (TBS: Don Orsillo, Dennis Eckersley, Buck Martinez, David Aldridge) I can't be the only one rooting for Eckersley and Buck to verbal wrestling match at some point in this series.

And George Lopez weighs in:

  1. So, apparently Bob Costas had a flashback to his early NFL play by play days and referred to Andrew McCutcheon as "Lawrence McCutcheon."

  7. Rachel Nichols' eyes creep me out.

  8. Brian Anderson makes me want to take a nap. Is there a more generic announcer than him? I'd rather listen to Hawk Harrelson call these games.

    1. It'd be interesting hearing Hawk call these games. No White Sox so he'd probably be really fair.

    2. Probably why he's so appealing to broadcast execs.

  9. I see Dusty Baker pulled out the race card on his way out of Cincinnati. He pulled the same card out in San Francisco when his time was running out.

    1. A part of me would laugh on the inside if the Nationals made him the successor to Davey Johnson.

  11. Simmons is in a race with Peter King over who can have the more longer, bloated football column. At least Kings moves on from topic to topic. Simmons wastes a 1,000 words on the Jags.

  12. Joe Maddon obviously planned that play by Wil Myers.

  13. Yes, Brian Anderson just used the phrase "a spot of bother" on a National TV broadcast.

  15. So when do the other games start?

  16. It took an hour to play the first 3 innings, now it's taken more than an hour for the next inning and a half plus.
