Didn't take long for the pitchers to become the dominate theme of the season last night. Yu Darvish was one out away from a Perfect game. Madison Bumgarner looked sharp in 8 innings. Ryu was steady but unspectacular in his Dodgers debut (the Giants saved him by hitting into a million double plays). Heath Bell still sucks. David Price was shaky in his season debut. And then there is R.A. Dickey with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Dickey didn't look sharp at all in his debut with the Blue Jays going 6 innings giving up 5 hits, 4 runs, 4 walks, 4 strikeouts, and one spectacular home run to Asdrubal Cabrera. And then there was his catcher J.P. Arencibia. Ole J.P. struggled catching that Dickey knuckleball for the first few innings allowing 3 passed balls in barely 2 innings of work to set the Blue Jays franchise record. Thankfully for J.P., Dickey threw a wild pitch so he wasn't credited with 4 passed balls.
What did Bob Uecker always say about catching a knuckleballer? Wait for it to stop rolling and then pick it up? Yeah I think was right. Well Arencibia spent a lot of time last night just picking up the knuckleball.

How do you let that pitch get by you? My goodness JP.
